Ample Hills or Beaches and Cream?

If there are any food allergies (or you just want regular flavors without stuff in them),Ample Hills mayor be the best bet. At least if they only have the “pretentious” flavors they have at the one close to me in Brooklyn. Absolutely NO “plain” flavors as I was told when I asked.

You mean like oatmeal lace?:D.
I think the wildest flavor mixture she likes is chocolate mint. But she'll pick some place this weekend.

I think B&C is worth it for The Kitchen Sink, once, if you've never done it. It's a fun experience. Quality-wise, Ample Hills blows B&C out of the water.

A bit off topic but I am super psyched because I just found out that Ample Hill locations outside of Disney are going to have the Disney-specific flavors to celebrate Mickey's birthday. Totally going to be getting some of that!

I’ve never heard of Ample hills. We always enjoy beaches and cream and love Stone Cold Creamery in Celebration x

I'm thinking DGD would enjoy sitting in an ice cream parlor but am not sure which venue has the best ice cream. I'm happiest with just a scoop of gelato or sorbet but she likes the whole gloppy melange complete with rainbow sprinkles, LOL.

Which place do your kids or the kid in you like better?

There's no ambiance AT ALL at Ample Hills!! Doesn't do a thing for us. We love the banana split and hot fudge sundaes at Beaches and Cream and go every trip for that. We don't make ressies, and seldom have a very long wait for the counters. Love the feel!!

Well, I've been given my marching orders and the winner for this trip is...drumroll please!....L'Artisan des Glaces. DGD looked at picture after picture on the 'net of all the suggested ice cream places before making her choice. I suspect that when she figures out the Beaches and Cream is the place near FF that she always looks at longingly she'll regret the choice so I'm holding on to the B+C ADR until the last possible moment. Knowing her grandfather he'll probably wonder why there can't be 2 ice cream visits, LOL.

Thanks to all for helping to make this life changing decision :D:cool:

If you are looking for amazing sundaes, Beaches and Cream does a very good job.
If you are looking for unique flavors, Ample Hills wins by a landslide.

I agree! I love the No Way Jose at B&C. B&C does have adult floats if that is an interest. Ample Hills does have more options if you want flavor.

If your trip is long enough do both!

The ice cream at Beaches and Cream is commodity food service ice cream. Not worth it.

That's true, I think it's just Edy's. I wouldn't go there for a plain scoop of ice cream. But the sundaes are a different story - massive, great toppings to choose from, generous portion of toppings. It also makes for a good dessert option for someone using the dining plan, because the large sundaes are included. I also think the diner style atmosphere is cute and endearing - more interesting than quick service, at least.

Why can't there be? I am still wondering...

... said the mom who got her kids Berthillon every night after dinner on our trip to Paris. What can I say? It was right on the corner. We have pictures of the 2yo eating her regular chocolate ice cream cone (it was always chocolate), just wearing different clothes each day.

BTW - we have gone to all 3, more than once. But we haven't sat down at B&C - we will do that someday. I think you need to do a taste test of your own and report back.

We had lunch at B&C yesterday, and it was amazing. The look on my kids' faces when we received the Kitchen Sink was priceless. Highly recommend for the experience.

If you want sundaes, Ghirardelli is the best, hands down. We go there all the time and it's fantastic. They have the absolute BEST hot fudge I've ever had!

Ample Hills is completely overhyped. If you like chewing your ice cream, you'll love it. For me, it was just overkill with the "mix ins" and it was overwhelmingly sweet, not very well balanced flavors at all. My teeth hurt for an hour afterwards (they are sensitive to cold and sweet and it was just awful how much I had to chew something so cold).

Beaches and Cream is super fun if you are going to do the Kitchen Sink, but I think their sundaes are way too big for most kids. Plus, you need an ADR which can be hard to get.
