Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

Just read they are now trying a different method to enforce parking fees at the resorts. They are stationing non security CM at the guard shack to confirm people checking in that they have a car. One of the resorts mentioned was YC/BC. Can anyone confirm this? I think they rolled it out this past Sunday.

Yes, we just returned home and I can confirm this is true at the BC.

I'll look around myself, is anyone at the resort know who could post or send me a copy of the November activities calendar? If you have a club level stay later in the month, you can also request to have one emailed to you.

:thanks:

As noted on the Nov rec calendar, there are a number of new activities at YC/BC for everyone. The former Sandcastle Club, renamed Seaside Retreat and located adjacent to the BC Marketplace, is the location for some activities.

Martha's Vineyard Lounge, located at the BC, is the home for painting lessons late afternoon on Fridays. There is live music at the lounge on Monday evenings.

Thanks for posting! I was looking for this this morning hoping it was out already.

Does anyone have a description of the activities? We will be at the resort Tuesday and some of Saturday. I'm curious what the Changing of the Guard, Candy Sink and Critter Round Up are. Are the campfires fun?

Not sure about the Candy Sink or Critter Round Up, so others will have to post about that.

Changing of the Guard (I think) is a choreographed line dance routine by the lifeguards as they are changing shifts. Here they are performing to the Cupid Shuffle.

Just a reminder for those interested in participating in YC/BC activities that occur at Stormalong Bay - you must be a YC/BC registered guest to enter the gated area at Stormalong Bay. The CMs will scan your MB or view a wrist band. Later in the evening, though, it appears that the scanning is sometimes hit and miss.

I think critter round up is when they dump a lot of colored rubber small animal toys into the pool and have all of the kids gather them up by color and take them back to rings they put beside the pool then the kids with the most animals at the end win.

Sorry for that description, it’s hard to put into words :P

WWYD? I currently have a split stay at YC/BC booked but some new rooms just became available.

What I have:

3 nights YC Garden View (magical holiday rate)
5 nights BC Garden View (rack rate)

What I have found as a new option:

3 nights YC Garden View (keep same)
3 nights YC Water View (magical holiday rate)
2 nights BC Garden View (rack rate)

This would save me only about $75 on the room rate overall. But it would also let me add the DDP for that middle 3 nights which happens to be when all our expensive character buffets are and I would definitely come out ahead on that and I could use the mugs for the rest of the trip. Would YC take pity on me and put me in the same room for the consecutive 6 nights if I said it was okay to downgrade to Garden view the whole time? WWYD?

Personally I wouldn’t go through all of that trouble to save $75 dollars. That isn’t a ton of savings and it would be a hassle if they couldn’t let you switch rooms.

I’m the wrong person to ask. I just changed my Easter reservation. I had 4 nights garden view club then 3 nights regular garden view room, both with the visa discount. With the AP rates that just came out, I could have changed the last 3 nights to a waterview club room (the price increased of course). So I would still have to change rooms, but both would be club level. Or for $775 more than that, I could get a waterview club room for the whole week. And that’s what I picked. Even tho it was a good bit more, I just didn’t want to have to move to another room in the same resort midweek.

I have heard it is possible to ask to stay in the garden view room for the second stay. But I have no personal experience with that & didn’t want to gamble that I would have to move. I don’t mind occasional split stays, but for different hotels. Doing a split at he same hotel seems kind of annoying to me. If it was absolutely the only way to stay at the hotel I want, I would. But not if their is another option.

I love split stays for convenience, but I agree with previous posters that it would be too many splits for me. I would not like being without a room potentially 3x between 11am - 3pm at the same resort.

More things may open if you keep checking!

I have a similar scenario for March. I have BC booked at a decent rate for 4 nights. I can get YC at a great AP rate for the first two nights and save $89 per night. There is nothing at either resort now (even rack rate) the second 2 nights. I just could not bring myself to turn my Epcot/MK split into an Epcot/Epcot/MK split for the money.

Since you're paying rack rate the last two nights of the scenario, could you see if you could get YC water view full price? It may off-set the $75 in savings, but be one less split

We just returned from WDW yesterday. We did a split stay with 4 lovely nights at PORFQ followed by 4 amazing nights at the YC.

Our stay at the YC was perfect and I can't think of one thing that I would complain about.

We booked a garden/woods view room and requested a view of the wedding gazebo. We were in room 2067 which is labelled as a garden room view on the map, but I would definitely consider it a splendid water view as it looked out over the boardwalk and marina. The room is located near the elevator and exit door closest to the marina so it was super convenient.

The condition of the room was perfect. The refurbished rooms are beautiful with tons of storage space. I would like to take that room home with me. And the housekeeping was perfect.

At the resort, we ate at the Yachtsman the first night and it was very good. On day 2 we had a drink at the Ale and Compass lounge which was nice, but I like the Crew Cup lounge better. On day 3 we had supper at Beaches and Cream. I couldn't get a B&C reservation before our trip, so the day before we decided to go there I went to the concierge desk and they were able to get a reservation at 8 pm. On our last day, we tried to do a walk up breakfast around 9:15 am at the Ale and Compass restaurant but they were full up until 10:30 am. So we didn't get to eat there as we didn't want to wait around. We headed to the Grand Floridian Cafe instead and since we didn't get there until around 10:30 am it was easy to get in.

And of course, I was able to spend some time at Stormalong Bay. I made good use of the lazy river and hot tubs during some afternoon downtime.

I love the closeness to the International Gateway at Epcot. The construction did not intrude on our walk over in any way. We mostly used the boat to go to HS. We did walk over towards HS on night one to watch the fireworks from the walkway. We did walk back to the YC from HS one day and we didn't like having to walk around all the construction. It isn't too bad a walk, but it does add about 10 minutes walking through green construction corridors that, while neat and tidy, aren't that pleasant.

All in all, I highly recommend the YC and BC. They are just lovely resorts.

I’m glad you had a great trip! We did a similar split between POR and YC in June. We loved the newly refurbished rooms at the YC! I wouldn’t change one thing about the YC. We love the BC, too, but for us, the YC gets the slight edge.

Good Morning!
I am heading to Orlando for a convention next week, and then spending three glorious days at the BC! This may seem like a strange question, but if anyone is there now, can you post a picture of the current refillable mug display at the BC Marketplace or the YC Ale and Compass store? Just wondering what colors they have there, and if the Holiday mugs have arrived. Do they still have the white handles or is there a new design? I was just looking through my mug collection and it needs an update!
Thanks!
