Eat and drink till we drop! An Adults Only Trip! - Updated 12/30 & Completed

Train Station Area
The whole thing is really beautiful up there. The view, the area.
Looks like the perfect place for a bar to me :drinking1

debated getting a candied bacon skewer but decided against is, as I was saving up for Food & Wine.
What is this? I haven't heard of it!

Citrus Swirl Float
This was soooooo good!!! I loved it. The new orange soft serve is more creamsicle tasting. And so good. And I loved the orange soda with it. And with the heat, it was very refreshing. It def hit the spot!
Speaking of things I haven't heard of this looks and sounds amazing. Move over dole whip here I come....

Big Thunder Mountain was posted at 30 minutes, but I think it took maybe 20 to get to the front.
:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Andy said that we have never been up on the Train Platform. So, we looked at each other and said let's go!
Funny the little things you don't do with your kids! I do like the view from up there.

The Country Bears scare me just a tiny bit.

As we were walking over, we noticed a plane spelling something out. Andy made us wait for it to finish. It did give us this photo!
Aw, what a perfect shot :goodvibes

Awesome! I've never been up there either--it looks gorgeous.
I mean there isn't that much up there, but it is a really nice view from up there.

Sounds like a fantastic morning at the Magic Kingdom! Can't wait to hear about Epcot :)
Hopefully coming soon. We are busy doing Halloween stuff today, carving pumpkins and stuff!
I love your pic on Big Thunder with the post about your kids being at school! :rotfl2:
Thanks. Andy was particularly proud of it.

I'm late but in, looks like you had a great time , loving the drink selections btw thanks for sharing!!
:welcome: Better late than never, right? There are more drinks to come!

Muppets and a yummy orange swirl, sounds fun so far!
Thanks!

Speaking of things I haven't heard of this looks and sounds amazing. Move over dole whip here I come....
So, they kept changing it but they ended up with both versions of Orange. The original Orange which was more like frozen orange juice, and then this orange that is more Orange soft serve and not as tart. They did the float awhile ago but at the time they only had the tart orange option. And it was just too much orange. I really liked this much better, and is tough call for me between the two. Pineapple soda would be awsome with the dole whip too!

What is this? I haven't heard of it!
It is a that weird food stand in Liberty Square, where they sell turkey legs and hot dogs. They came out with a candied Bacon Skewers and a chicken skewers as well. It has had mixed reviews. But I def want to try it!

I like the way you think.

Funny the little things you don't do with your kids! I do like the view from up there.
Isn't it. It wasn't a big thing to do. But we are usually pretty set on heading into the part when we go, so it isn't JUST the girls fault. I think the fact that we were just going with the flow in general this trip helped to.

There was EMH but we decided to skip that and shoot for "regular" park open. As we didn't want to get there too late but also really didn't want to get up at the crack of dawn. Cause, you know we didn't have kids!
Didn't Tinkerbell leave you and Andy any surprises in the morning!? I'm missing those from this TR :)

And it was nice to watch it without the girls complaining that it was BOOOOORRRRRINNNNGGGG.
#kidfreetripperks

Big Thunder Mountain
We took this pic on the ride. And Andy posted it later that Fun Fact, our kids were in school right now! Ha! Too funny.
I remember seeing that post and cracking up!!!! So funny :)

Day Two: Is Food & Wine worth it?

We finished off our ride on Space Mountain and headed out. I want to say it was about 12:50 when we did. Our fast pass was at 1:00 and I have pleased that we were at least done with Space as a walk on before our fast pass window. We headed pretty much straight out. Maybe we stopped in at the Emporium, I already can't remember.

I do remember that we didn't wait too long for a monorail to show up. We hoped on and was glad to be sitting and that our car was in fact air conditioned. As the doors were closing we saw a VERY pregnant lady walk up. She looked miserable! Hot and very preg-os!

We got to the TTC and made the walk to the transfer to EPCOT. And then we waited and waited and waited. I am sure part of it was that is was STARVING but we def waited awhile for a train. The pregnant woman that we saw made it while we were waiting and she still looked pretty miserable.

While we were waiting also, a gentleman came up and asked the CM working on the platform what this whole Food & Wine thing was and whether it was worth checking it out. I kind of chuckled to myself, yeah buddy, it is practically the whole reason we are hear. But in his defense it was him and his wife with an infant, so prob there first trip.

Eventually a train did come and we made it the rest of the way to EPCOT! I love making the loop before getting to the stop. And it had been awhile since we had actually taken the monorail to EPCOT. And MAN is that walk off of the monorail LONG!!!! Why don't they have stairs as an option as well?!? I know they need the ramp for ADA and strollers, but could you put some stairs in as well? Oye!

Bag check wasn't too bad, and soon enough we were finally in! At 1:54! A full hour after getting off of Space Mountain.
Spaceship Earth

I was soooo ready for something to eat, so we headed straight back to get something to get us started. We headed for the area with (3) Booths, Active Eats, Coastal Eats, and Earth Eats.

We stopped at Coastal Eats first.
Crab Cake & Scallops
Andy got the Seared Scallops and I got the Lump Crab Cake. I am not a big scallop fan but Andy is, so we eat got our own.

The Seared Scallops official description:
Seared Scallops with Roasted Corn, Butterbean Succotash and Chili-chipotle Butter Sauce

Andy said they were really good. I tried a tiny bite, but really scallops just don't do it for me. They are always just meh. He said his were cooked just right and I think it really hit the spot for being Hangry.

The Crab Cake Official Description:
Lump Crab Cake with Napa Cabbage Slaw and Avocado-lemongrass Cream

This was a good crab cake but nothing extrodinary about it. The Avocado Cream was REALLY good. But again, it hit the spot for being ready to eat my arm off.

While Andy was getting those items, I checked out what was on the menu at Active Eats, as it was right there. The food was calling to me, but I decided to try the Hard Water.

Hard Water? I wasn't completely sure if it was alcoholic or not when I ordered it. But I figured it would be cold non the less.
Hard Water
M.I.A. Beer Company HRD WTR Pineapple Coconut Hard Sparkling Water
This was good, Andy said it tasted like it had alcohol in it but I am still not sure... It was only $4. I feel like it had to be non-alcholic if it was that price point. Anyone know?

Andy looked at the menu at Earth Eats since it was right there, and decided he wanted to try the mini burger.
Burger
The IMPOSSIBLE™ Burger Slider with Wasabi Cream and Spicy Asian Slaw on a Sesame Seed Bun

This was just ok. Our burger was VERY dry, but at that tiny size, I am sure it is SUPER easy to over cook them. If you didn't have the wasabi cream in the bite you took it was like cardboard. Blek. I let Andy eat most of it, as I wanted to save room for more things to come.

While we were inhaling our food, I was also texting with @pepperandchips! She was in the park with her DH and Mother and were already in EPCOT! I was super excitied to meet another dis-er. They were slowly moving around the world showcase, so, we just kept texting updates on where we were.

Andy and I decided to head towards Mexico, in order to try and "run" into Melinda. We stopped at Hawaii next.

I said that the hash had gotten good reviews, so we agreed to give that a try!
Spam Hash & Pineapple Sparkling Wine
I also had to try the pineapple sparkling wine!

Teriyaki-glazed SPAM® Hash with Potatoes, Peppers, Onions and Spicy Mayonnaise
This was good. The Spicy mayo def added to the flavor. I had a hard time telling what was potato and what was spam. Andy thought I had lost it, and I don't know why I couldn't tell the difference but it's the truth. This was also a good filler up as well.

The Pineapple Sparkling Wine was good but probably not worth the cost. It was fun to try and I am glad I tried it. But not so amazing that I want to find it at home to drink.

We had been in EPCOT for half an hour, and it was HOT!!!! We were checking out the menus as we went and we started to be a little more picky about what we were trying now that we had a few things. We hit Mexico, and decided to pass here. We have a SUPER amazing Mexican restaurant by our house. Like they have goat and catus on the menu....

Anyway, instead of food we decided on libations...
Margaritas
Margaritas to be exact! We ordered full size drinks from the new outside stand in Mexico, Choza de Margarita. There was a bit of a line, but it moved fairly quickly.

I ordered the
Acan Grapefruit
Avión Tequila, Combier Grapefruit Liqueur, Elderflower, Lemon Juice, Cardamom Bitters and Ginger Beer

And Andy went with a frozen version:
Classic Lime
Tequila, Lime Sweet and Sour, Orange Liqueur. Served with Salt on the rim

Both we really good. We have yet to get a margarita from inside, so I am not sure how they compare, but the non-frozen ones are hand mixed and they are good enough for me! I still need to try the Jalapeño one....

I really wanted to order the Guacamole here as well, but I refrained as I knew it would fill me up. It seriously is one of my favorites! I love all of it.

After we got our drinks, we stopped and pulled out our wet rags, because it was HOT! While we were doing this, I texted with Melinda and we decided to meet in Africa.

With our plan, in place, Andy and I slowly walked towards Africa. We checked out the booths as we walked. But nothing caught our eye. We eventually made it to Africa and found @pepperandchips!

And all I can say is Melinda is Fantastic! Along with her mother and DH! We had a nice chat under the shaded area. (See also, where kids bang on drums!) But seriously, it was so great to stop and talk with them. And Melinda.... came with gifts!!!! What did I bring... nothing... I am terrible, and clearly need to up my game. I mean both dis meets so far, I have been gifted things, and I have been empty handed.

ANYWAY, Melinda made and gave me some awsome Food & Wine Ears! I was so surprised and super excited about them.

Melinda & Me
We both decided that we look pretty good considering the fact that it was sooooo hot!

We chatted for a bit and then headed our seperate ways. I am so glad we met up, Melinda! And I do hope we cross paths (trips) again!

Up later, more food & wine!

Bag check wasn't too bad, and soon enough we were finally in! At 1:54! A full hour after getting off of Space Mountain.
The ordeal of going between MK and Epcot especially makes me miss the Express buses...they were awesome...

After we got our drinks, we stopped and pulled out our wet rags, because it was HOT!
Did those work? We had them, but never actually used them 'cause it seemed like a pain.

Cute Dismeet! :D

Did those work? We had them, but never actually used them 'cause it seemed like a pain.
kind of... They def didn't hurt. They cool you down for a little bit but then you need to re-wet them. But they did help. This was the second time we used them. I bought them for our trip last September and they def were helpful to have.

As usual, I'm late to the party but I'm here and caught up! Sounds like a wonderful start to your child-free vacation! It must have been such a different kind of trip for you both, and I hope you really enjoyed some couple time... and it looks like you did already! :goodvibes

Excited to read more! :thumbsup2 And glad your Dis meet worked out!

Hard Water? I wasn't completely sure if it was alcoholic or not when I ordered it. But I figured it would be cold non the less.
Hmmm, the price leaves me a little confused, but it sure sounds tasty, especially if it was super hot out!!!!

I had a hard time telling what was potato and what was spam. Andy thought I had lost it, and I don't know why I couldn't tell the difference but it's the truth.
THis just made me laugh!!! My Dad is a huge lover of spam--he used to make it for us for breakfast when we were little and my Mom was horrified!!! It's hilarious that you couldn't tell the difference between spam and potato. It is a mysterious food for sure LOL

Anyway, instead of food we decided on libations...
Sounds like my kind of philosophy!!

Adorable :)

Right!!! Where was that fairy!?! Sleeping on the job!
:tinker:

Happy Friday! I hope everyone survived the week! We did but man alive, Halloween Hangover is a real thing people! Morgan and Gwen were soooo crabby yesterday!

I am hoping to get another update in, as Morgan is off to a sleepover and Gwen has a friend staying the night here. So, I will hopefully get to relax at least a little bit!

As usual, I'm late to the party but I'm here and caught up!
Glad you are here!!! I am late half the time too. (in real life and here on the boards)

It must have been such a different kind of trip for you both, and I hope you really enjoyed some couple tim
It really was a different trip. For sure.

Hmmm, the price leaves me a little confused, but it sure sounds tasty, especially if it was super hot out!!!!
Right. It tasted like those hard sparkling waters but the price is way too cheap for Disney! :confused3

Day Two: More Food & Wine

After meeting with Melinda, Andy and I continued around the world showcase counter-clockwise.

We decided to try something at the China Kiosk, the Duck Bao Bun
Pork Belly Bun
Beijing Roasted Duck Bao Bun with Hoisin Sauce

This was really good but it wasn't necessarily super different. It was covered in Red Onion and Andy gets heartburn from onion, so I tried to pick them off for him, But he decided mostly to just skip it.

We moved along after enjoying out Duck ala Garbage Can. (aka we had to eat it on a garbage can)

We stopped in Germany, and picked up Schinkennudeln. Melinda and company suggested it. So, we figured we would give it a try. I apparently don't have a picture of it...
Schinkennudeln: Pasta Gratin with Ham, Onions and Cheese
This was good, but it was warm, as it should be but I was starting to hit peak hotness, and eating the hot food in the heat was starting to get to me. So, Andy ate most of this.

We continued on, I think we stopped in the American Pavillion to see what they had for merch. Andy was looking for another baseball hat. But didn't fins anything good.

I feel like we did something else in here, as it took us an hour to get from China to the next pic but I am not sure what that would have been. :confused3

Guardians Building
I had heard here and there about how the Guardians Building was going to be seen from the World Showcase. Yup!

We went into the Japan Pavilion to get some gifts for the girls. They always get some good stuff in there. So, I knew anything from here would be a big hit.

Japan Plush
I saw this wall and knew they would love all of these, but there were pretty plush and we only took 1 suitcase. So, I ended up passing on these, but if they are still there in February and I almost garentee that they will be featured then.

I ended up getting them a much slimmer plush and some Candy. We saved some of the candy for Christmas gifts. I also picked up little lucky cats for the lovely folks that were taking care of our kids!

Actually around this time, Andy's parents were picking up the girls from school. So, when they got to the house, we were able to text them. I texted the girls my awsome new ears.
Untitled

After all of our purchases in Japan, we decided to backtrack and go back to China to see the movie in China, rest our feet a little and get out of the heat.

China Pavillion
We headed in, explored a little and then found a seat on a bench with the rest of the folks waiting.

China Pavillion Dome
It really is beautiful in there!

But then, I did this...
Tired Me
I was hitting the wall!

And as we were waiting, I said to Andy that I thought you might need to stand for this show. In which Andy said he wasn't sure he wanted to stand. So, we waited for the doors to open and yup, standing only. So, we passed on the show.

We decided to head back to the room and rest for a bit. As we wanted to see Illuminations tonight, and there was just no way I was going to make it. So, we made our way around to France, where I HAD to get a drink...

Martini Slush
This is the food & wine Slush.

La Passion Martini Slush: Vodka, Grey Goose Le Citron, Cranberry and Passion Fruit Juice
This hit the spot!

With a drink in hand, we headed out of EPCOT and to the buses.

Up Next, will we make it to see Illuminations?

As the doors were closing we saw a VERY pregnant lady walk up. She looked miserable! Hot and very preg-os!
Poor thing. I did Disney in September pregnant with Casey and it. was. not. fun.

Bag check wasn't too bad, and soon enough we were finally in! At 1:54! A full hour after getting off of Space Mountain.
Yikes. That is crazy

Andy got the Seared Scallops and I got the Lump Crab Cake. I am not a big scallop fan but Andy is, so we eat got our own.
I'm totally with Andy on this one. Love, love, love scallops.

Hard Water
M.I.A. Beer Company HRD WTR Pineapple Coconut Hard Sparkling Water
This was good, Andy said it tasted like it had alcohol in it but I am still not sure... It was only $4. I feel like it had to be non-alcholic if it was that price point. Anyone know?
Sounds refreshing. I can't speak to this one specifically but most hard sparkling waters are made from malt liquor. Think Zima or a Bartles and James :-)

Burger
The IMPOSSIBLE™ Burger Slider with Wasabi Cream and Spicy Asian Slaw on a Sesame Seed Bun
Ugh i tried one of these once (not at Disney) and I must say despite the name it was entirely possible to know this was not meat.

Margaritas
Margaritas to be exact! We ordered full size drinks from the new outside stand in Mexico, Choza de Margarita. There was a bit of a line, but it moved fairly quickly.
Funny you've never been inside to get a marg and I've never been outside :drinking1

ANYWAY, Melinda made and gave me some awsome Food & Wine Ears! I was so surprised and super excited about them.

How awesome you too got to meet. Love, love, love the ears!

I'm so jealous of everyone meeting Melinda @pepperandchips and can't wait to meet her in 2 weeks
Now I'm jealous :P

We moved along after enjoying out Duck ala Garbage Can. (aka we had to eat it on a garbage can)
:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Funny you've never been inside to get a marg and I've never been outside :drinking1
The important part is that there were margaritas consumed!

I'm totally with Andy on this one. Love, love, love scallops.
I don't hate them, they just aren't that good to me. It' like Lobster to me, it's too $$$ for how much I like it.

Poor thing. I did Disney in September pregnant with Casey and it. was. not. fun.
I forgot the whole point of the story. We ended up walking behind her into EPCOT and she was carrying a full size pillow with her! Poor lady!
