Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

Anyone there right now and could post updates on Halloween activities today? Particularly interested in characters and trick or treating. We will be arriving next year on Halloween!

I sent a room request fax through Touring Plans and it was obvious it had been received and honored, even though I did book through a TA. I requested bldgs 3 or 4, 4th floor, lake view, non-connecting room and received exactly that.
Good to know! I am faxing the resort myself for our trip next week with the same exact requests, except for buildings 4 or 5. Hopefully they'll be able to honor them - would be nice to be in a quieter area with easy access to AoA. And I hate those connecting room doors, you can hear everything through them!

Could you please give me the fax number for Pop Century? First time at this resort and arriving 11/23. Can't wait! Thanks.

I did not see either on the list that was posted on a board coming out of the lobby. Possibly it was posted elsewhere? I know there was Halloween trivia at the pool. A candy corn counting game in gift shop. Props to take pics with in the lobby. Sorry, We were not interested in anything because we are old lol but I was curious to see if they offered trick or treating/characters but did not see anything listed.

So question for everyone. It seems as though a lot of people using touring plans for requests aren’t getting their requests. For those of you that got your room requests granted, how did you make the request? Via phone or another option?

With the release of AP Discounts for Winter/Spring 2019 yesterday, I've been looking at what's available for my upcoming February trip and saw a new refurbishment notice for Pop Century.

The notice reads as follows:
Beginning winter 2020, the Hippy Dippy Pool will be closed for refurbishment. During this time, you can still make a splash at our Bowling Pool and Computer Pool—while little dippers can enjoy our kiddie pool. Also, Petals Pool Bar will be closed and Movies Under the Stars will be offered in an alternate location. You may notice construction noise while this refurbishment is underway, but the noise should not be heard from Guest rooms between dusk and 9:00 AM.

It seems like Disney learned their lesson from the Animal Kingdom Lodge pool refurb where there was a lot of negative feedback so they are trying to provide an extended notice. I'm assuming "winter 2020" means January - February 2020 timeframe, maybe into early March. Just a heads up for anyone who might be staying at POP during this timeframe.

This boggles my mind... is it cheaper for Disney to clean a room booked at a discount through a TA?!

Apparently someone in management has a difficult time wrapping their mind around a guest getting too good of a deal! :scratchin
It makes no sense to me either. Why would moderates get it and not Pop? My daughter just got back and they had no problem at all getting it.

I use Touring Plans and my requests have been successful. I don’t know if it makes it easier when they’re assigning rooms, but our stays aren’t more than 4 nights- maybe that helps.

We stayed at POP from 9/2-9/18 and we got the room we wanted. We had a room only reservation on 9/2 and 9/17 and we were able to stay in our room for our whole trip. I requested 60's lake view and we were in room 4159. It was perfect and I requested by using touring plans also.

Could it be because of the discounted package booked Disney is alreadyvat their break-even point so by basically discounting the room by an additional $10 they would be losing money?

I kind of look at it as not allowing people to ‘stack’ discounts. As a Canadian I can get a discounted room plus the CDN ticket discount at the same time but I cannot get the CDN ticket offer when booking the FD bounceback that was available until yesterday. I’m guessing that is the case because the FD is already a great discount so they cannot offer me the CDN ticket discount at the same time without going over some discount threshold?

Could that be part of it? I’m not sure how great of a discount you may have received via your TA?

I see it similarly to staying with other hotel chains. If I book my stay using a discounted third party site I normally do not earn reward points with the hotel chain when I stay there. I see Disney not offering the additional $10 discount for foregoing mousekeeping as the same way. They are paying the mousekeeping staff regardless as they still need many on site.

As a Canadian, not allowing discounts to be stacked is very common. It’s one of the many reasons I enjoy shopping in the US because allowing this appears to be much more common.

I always call a few weeks ahead to make requests, and then send a fax 3-5 days before our trip. Usually I am given the exact room I request, and occasionally a room a few doors down. I'm not sure which is more effective, calling or faxing, so I just keep doing both! Good luck : )

What number do you call?
