Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

I have already stayed in a refurbished room but, it was only for a couple of days so I didn’t use the clothes hanging rack and I paid no attention to it. (Don’t know what else to call it since it’s not a closet) We are going for an 8 day trip in December and will have clothes to hang. Anyone have a clue how many hangers can hang now?

First time staying at POP... very impressed! Great detailing for a value resort. It even has that feel where you enjoy being there, which I’ve never felt with the All Stars.

One thing that I absolutely love is that right now the soundtrack in the lobby and main building is all old Halloween-themed music! That’s the kind of little things that make me love Disney so much!

Quite a few. I think they supply 10 and I normall pack 10 more myself and they fit inside the closet, without the extension bar being used.

99 days until we're at Pop for our first-ever onsite stay! Booked the first day packages were available, so it feels like it's been forever getting down to double digits. Unfortunately, I was unable to apply a discount to my reservation because Pop was all booked up long before discount day (15's, Cheerleaders, etc.) I've been checking the website almost daily for possible availability from others' changed plans, but I'm wondering if maybe I should just stop until closer to arrival. Like is there a specific number of days out that held blocks get released back to the general public?

Thanks to this thread and the renovations thread, I know I want to request lake view, shower-only. Otherwise, we're just not that picky about decade/building or floor.

I have a CPAP machine. This will be my first time traveling with it (other than to my parents' house last Christmas), so definitely first time flying with it. Is it true that distilled water is available at the gift shop upon request? I won't really mind paying the Disney markup; I just kinda hate that I'll likely be wasting a lot of it. I assume it's sold in gallon jugs, but I think I use only about a quart a week.

Yes, you can purchase distilled water in the food court for your CPAP. You will need to request it. It is such a waste for sure as you will barely deny the bottle.

I will admit when we visit Disney ( normally for 8 night stays) I just use the tap water for those nights. I figure once or twice a year will not hurt me snd I’ve been doing this for years.

There have been times too when I have filled smaller water bottles with distilled water, wrapped them with a towel and placed them in s container which is then wrapped in a plastic bag, in my checked baggage. Such a hassle though!

I also use CPAP. Yes, distilled water is available in the gift shop. Sometimes you have to ask for it, but I’ve never had any trouble getting a jug (only a gallon jug the last time I was there). You can also ask your doctor if it’s ok to use regular water for a few nights. Mine has said it’s fine to use tap water on occasion for a few nights. Usually our trips are long enough for me to justify buying a whole bottle, but if we’re only traveling for 3 nights or less, I use tap water.

I almost didn’t see this. You quoted the wrong post. Lol. Oops I got it though and thank you so much! I now know I can pack all I need. Thanks again!!

Oops! Glad you found my response.

I’m sure you can request additional hangers too. I just find it east to toss in some light plastic ones that take up less space than the wooden ones in the closet.

I got home last night from my first stay at Pop. I was a solo traveler on a "mom-cation" this time and the resort fit my needs nicely. My experiences with a few things I've seen mentioned lately:

1) I was told I was not able to decline housekeeping and get the gift card since I booked at a discount through a TA. I didn't push the issue because it would have only been for two nights worth anyway.

2) I was able to request a box fan and it was brought to my room right away

3) I sent a room request fax through Touring Plans and it was obvious it had been received and honored, even though I did book through a TA. I requested bldgs 3 or 4, 4th floor, lake view, non-connecting room and received exactly that. The room number was 3417 and it had a tub.

4) The room was clean and the floors were mostly clean. It was obvious that they had swept and mopped but there were particulates left that were kicked up from mopping. I usually go over the floor again with a vacuum after mopping at home but I am a bit of a freak about clean floors.

5) They had 24 packs of the small Dasani water bottles in the food court by request. It was $7.99 and I was able to use my TIW discount which made it a no-brainer compared to buying individual bottles.

I enjoyed staying there and liked the room. It was comfortable and I didn't have any problems with noise from neighbors. I used both the box fan and an app on my phone for white noise. I was really impressed with the amount of storage in the rooms, even though I didn't need much for just a 3 night solo stay. I wish DVC rooms had this much storage!

The bus service worked well for me, I usually waited less than 5 minutes on either end except for leaving MK after close. Even though it was over an hour past closing time, the queue for Pop buses took up the space of 4 bus stops and it was overflowing!!! I got in the AOA queue instead because it was like a bus stop and a half. It was the right choice because a double bus came for AOA and fit almost everyone in while two buses came for Pop and barely put a dent in the line.

The only thing I didn't enjoy as much was the food court, lobby and main pool areas. It's a matter of personal preference though, I prefer the quiet ambient music that you hear at AKL or WL over the loud, boisterous pop music. The bowling pin pool was quieter though and I liked it there. I would definitely stay here again, especially for a solo trip when I'm not spending much resort time at the pool or common areas.

Haven't been there yet but I've looked at several videos on the refurbished rooms. There are 12 hangers on the rack.

Here now and About to run out of water so thanks for posting about the water.

Great review! I am also planning a solo trip after my conference.

It's nice to hear that you felt comfortable solo here. I enjoy a boisterous pool, especially solo, so I think that the main pool will be good for me. I have not stayed at a value resort, so I enjoy hearing good things about this resort.

Great tip about taking the AOA bus if POP is too full.

I have stayed solo at Pop many times and felt very safe there, even during late nights and early mornings. I stayed before and after the renovations and I feel the renovations make the rooms ideal for solos. It feels so spacious when you don’t need to have the Murphy bed down (although sometimes I use the Murphy even when solo, as it is very comfortable, especially for reading in bed, and I love Pluto!). Another thing I like about Pop is hearing the non-Disney music on the buses. As much as I love Disney, sometimes it’s nice to mentally step back for a few minutes and the retro tunes bring back a lot of childhood memories.

This boggles my mind... is it cheaper for Disney to clean a room booked at a discount through a TA?!

Apparently someone in management has a difficult time wrapping their mind around a guest getting too good of a deal! :scratchin

Thanks for the trip report/update. Always appreciate hearing about people’s experiences.

Glad to see the 24 pack of Dasani bottles for $8 are back! I hope they stick around for awhile, since they are a much better deal than the 6 or 12 packs that seem to replace the 24 packs for longer period of times.

The only thing I want to know is how's the gondola station coming along? Does it look like it will be done by June 2019? Or sooner?
This post shows pics posted Oct 25th. https://wdwnt.com/2018/10/popartskliner1018/

An official opening date has not been announced. I don’t believe we can guess an opening date based on appearance. People are guessing ‘Summer 2019’ but that is a 90 day time period so nobody truly knows until Disney mKes an official announcement.
