Mickey's Halloween Party and Halloween Time Superthread 2018!!

I went to the party on the 23rd-yep it was packed. But I was one of the dummies who camped out for fireworks for 3 hours-basically the sole reason I went to the party. But I did notice how packed it was moving from land to land after the fireworks. I stayed until midnight taking pictures and there were a good amount of people still in the parks when I left huddled on MS. I got stuck over by ROA when the Cadaver Dans came out at 10 between those crowds and the immense treat lines over there. But I was able to make my way back over to IASM to see the second parade.

I was hoping to only have to sit in a spot for about 2 hours for fireworks, just casually casing the area in front of the castle, hoping no one would put any blankets down too early, no such luck. A huge party of about 8 adults and 10 kids plopped down 4 blankets before I could even blink. Fortunately, they were very nice and let me squeeze in amongst them so I could set up to take pictures unobstructed. It was probably a good hour before anyone else sat behind them, so I think might have been an anomaly on how early peeps camp out-maybe. They had a good game plan and a ton of snacks, some would stay while others took the kids to the treat lines, I even held down their fort for a while when most of them decided to go get some ice cream right before the parade. All very cordial, I was actually surprised that no one tried to slip into a spot last minute up front. Those that did fill in behind them gave everyone plenty of space.

Friday the 26th was brutal at DCA when the party started at DL. I met my DD for dinner at Lamplight, we actually got a table upstairs in like 20 minutes to my surprise. They were busy though, we got our food before our drinks. The potato skins are legit as was the crab and tuna roll. At 7 pm, 90 minute standby for Indiecoaster and 140 for Guardians, yikes. And, wait for it, 45 minutes for Ariel. We walked around checking out the decorations, got a pumpkin churro, not that great, then headed over to the Grand to hit DTD around 9.

So if you have a party ticket can you start out and then go to DCA during the party? We’re going to the party tonight and while I know DCA gets slammed once the party starts, we’ve never seen cars land after dark or done radiator springs after dark. Thinking about leaving Disneyland for a bit and going and doing the single rider line, then going back in, didn’t know if the party tickets will let you do that, or if you can only go to DCA during the preparty hours.

Thoughts?

Yes you can. You can hop as much or as little as you'd like.

By any chance does some know or can recall the "poem" that is said before the headless horseman arrives during the parade??? Thanks and Happy Halloween.

This was the poem in 2017 (I think it was the same this year):
In the woods of Sleepy Hollow...long, long ago tip-toed Ichabod Crane nervously slow...for he heard the dreadful legend the townsmen told...of a Halloween spirit fiendish and bold...beware the Headless Horseman on a midnight steed...he's searching for somebody to supply his cursed need...scurry faster school master, tonight you're not alone...the Horseman's the riding after you...it's time that you head home...travel quickly, cross the bridge, don't look back, do not delay...if the Headless Horseman gets you, you won't see another day!

Happy Halloween! Any reports on Monday's party? And, has anyone seen the scarecrows at any of the parties? We didn't see them on the 12th, but it was raining, so we assumed the weather prevented them from appearing. But when we didn't see them on the 26th, we wondered if they were around at all this year.

We didn't see the scarecrows on the 26th either! I'm sad cause I really love them and thought they added quite a bit. They always picked on my friends' mom - she was the Maleficent in our group and always gave her a hard time for her crow, Diablo. :sad1::rotfl:

Thank you SO much !!

I forgot about the scarecrows! They were great last year.
I didn't see any scarecrows this year either. I was at the party on Oct 23rd & 29th. What is interesting is that I just got a survey about the party and it asked about the scarecrows.
My biggest complaint about the party was lack of Halloween merchandise for sale. The poison apple steins were gone by the 23rd of October and I got the last of the popcorn caldrons at that party. By the 24th the caldrons were gone. I never saw the Oggie Boggie bucket - I didn't want it though. Most of the other merchandise was gone as well and they were in full Christmas mode.

We just got back from our Halloween trip. We went to the Halloween party on 10/31 and it was the busiest party I've ever been too. It was like a regular park day. I'll never go on Halloween again. There were no live scarecrows, no cadaver dans on the river, no cupcake girls or pumpkin guys on stilts at the toontown pre-party. I brought back the smallest amount of candy I've ever brought back in my 5 years of going. It was just ridiculously packed. It felt like a July park night during fireworks and the second parade. I had a fun time but we brought family and wanted them to experience what we have experienced the last five years and it was nothing like it at all. It was a disappointment IMO. Halloween time is my favorite time of year at DL so, we will return again just go back to the original weekend we usually go.

That’s so interesting- I guess we’ve only been on Halloween so it’s all relative...but we felt like we got done what we wanted to. I guess if lines had been shorter maybe my kids would have wanted to meet Minnie, but we just expect all character lines to be long so we do other stuff. I will say paying $130 and having to sit for the parade 2 hours in advance is annoying.

that said - halloween day for us has consistently been killer, 5-10 mins waits all day for everything except RSR, so as out of towners it’s worth it to go then and have a busier party.

I had some similar thoughts about the 10/31 MHP. I brought my dbs and I was disappointed in the overall feel. It did seem crowded and I missed the scarecrow and presence of villains. What I noticed, and maybe this was from the crowds trying to move around, was a lack of Joie de vivre from others. We still had a great deal of fun dressing up and playing with each other and loved the fireworks and the parade and we did get a lot of candy in the few later evening treat trails we did.

Interesting..I will say, this year there seem to be such a wide range of reports from people. As for the candy, yes, I thought they were stingy this year with it. At one trail I asked the CM's if I could get a handful, and they were nice and gave me a handful. At golden horseshoe, they only said 3 pieces..which makes no sense when you have tubs and tubs of candy.

Ya they were only giving 3 pieces each. I usually fill up the Halloween tote I buy from DL but only the bottom was filled. Dont get me wrong I did have fun but it just wasnt the same experience I usually experience. Lines for everything were long everywhere for everything (treat trails, character meets, just everything). We went to CDL during the day and there were a lot less people but DL during the party was insane. I'll stick to the 3rd weekend in October going forward as I know what to expect even with Utah schools out for break was much less people than Halloween night.
