Summer deals/availability?

Hello!

I'm from the U.S. and we are headed to France for our summer vacation in July of 2019. We are going to spend a night/two days at DLP as part of our tour of France. I have a few questions for anyone out there!

1. When should I expect to see summer deals or hotel availability published?

2. How different are the deals from country to country? Is it worth it to try different countries' website to find a deal?

3. How much planning does 1-2 days at DLP need? I've got an 8 and 10 year old who are used to WDW and DL and we do a fair amount of planning for those trips. However, I'd rather spend the bulk of my mental energies on the rest of our visit in France.

4. My daughter is princess crazy. How easy is it to meet the princesses (especially Aurora? She's my daughter's favorite)

Any tips or advice that you have would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you!!!

1. Start checking around Christmas / after the holidays.

2. Yes, it could differ, and it's definitely worth checking.

3. Not a lot. Arrange your hotel and park tickets, have a basic idea of what you want to see. Keep in mind that it's the summer holidays and the national holiday on the 14th of July is going to be busy. With 2 days you should be able to see most the two parks have to offer. With one day you need to make more choices what you do / don't want to see or do. Focus on the rides / shows you do not have in the US.

4. Unfortunately, this needs a little bit of luck. Aurora does meet regularly in the princess pavilion, but the system is 1 princess in the morning, and a different in the afternoon. It's not published in advance which princess it'll be. Shortest waiting times will be during the EMH, go to the back of the park to see which princess is meeting and make your decision. You do have the princess lunch/dinner in the Auberge the Cendrillon, where she also meets often, but she's not guaranteed.
Occasionally you could find roaming characters, last Monday we saw both Rapunzel and Cinderella for surprise appearances, but this is also about luck.

For other tips:
Lately there have been several topics of people used to the US parks asking for advice, just scroll through the topics on the last few pages and you should be able to find plenty of tips.

Thanks! Do you know if I'll be able to book just one night in a DLP hotel? We'd rather stay onsite than off. Thank you!

I would definitely advise to stay onsite. With the summer crowds, travelling with kids, and the short time you have, you want to take advantage of EMH. I read the other day that the Disneyland Hotel sometimes requires a minimum of a 2 night stay, but the other Disney hotels don't. To be honest, I personally wouldn't spend too much money on the hotel, as you probably don't have time to take full advantage of the hotel.

I know it's not the American way ;-) but get used to walking. There are buses back to the hotels, but usually walking is quicker, and on a beautiful summer eve it's a nice stroll.
Disneyland Hotel: At the entrance of Disneyland park.
Hotel New York: 5 minutes from Disneyland park.
Hotel New Portbay / Sequoia Lodge: 10 minutes from Disneyland park.
Hotel Cheyenne/Santa Fe: 15 -20 minutes from Disneyland park.
The gates of Disneyland Park and The Studios are very close to one another, like Disneyland Anaheim & DCA, probably a little further. But you get the idea.

I say get there in the afternoon, check in, and leisurely explore the park, get familiar with it, already do some rides or shows when you come across a short queue, see the fireworks. And on the second day make sure you tick off everything you want to see/do.

No offense taken as we live in a large city and are used to walking. One of the reasons why we enjoy Western Europe so much is a break from driving! I honestly don't care where we stay as long as it is onsite. I doubt we will spend really any time at all in the hotel. We plan on being at DLP by lunchtime or soon there after and have all the next day to explore too. Thanks for all of your suggestions! We are excited to add our third Disney park. On to Asia after that!

2. Yes, definitely check other countries' deals. The French site often has an 'under 12s go free' offer which, with your children being 8 and 10, could save you a fair amount. UK is usually under 7s free.

We got a "4 nights for the price of 2" deal for May 2019 in June 2018. It is definitely not too early to look.

I have been looking for July ‘19 also since last April/May but so far the only deals I’ve seen have been those mentioned above- stay x/ get x free. We are only staying 2 nights so waiting for a % off room rate to be released. So far they go through April 2019 so I’m hoping around the end of November/ early December new dates will be released.

Yeah, we are doing one or two night in the midst of a larger France swing. Coming from the US, I can't spend 4 nights at DL Paris. I keep looking too!

New offers are up for Summer '19 on UK and USA website! For 2 or more nights I am seeing 20-25% off room and tickets plus free half board. Temped to wait for room only discounts on 3rd party sites to come up, as I only need 2 days of tickets, but this discount seems pretty decent!

I'm in the same boat as you! Going July 19-21st. Thank you for the heads up on the deals. I'm trying to also price out offsite hotels with shuttle service to the parks to see if it's worth the extra hassle and cost-savings, but I like the idea of free half board...
