Official Disney Cake Chatter - Part V!

Does anyone know if amorette's delivers their larger cakes to resorts or restaurants? Placed a phone call to them but only got answering machine.
just received the answer to my own question, at this time only Disney springs restaurant delivery.

When I was emailing Pat at the Grand Floridian to get a birthday cake for my DD, my ideas were being shot down for various reasons. One of the reasons, FWIW, is they cannot do multiple individual princesses, but they can do ONE picture with all the princesses. In addition, Pat had initially started off asking me about basic flavors (chocolate or vanilla), and I immediately said I wanted a more custom cake - I found it much easier to email than to discuss it on the phone.

At any rate, I did not have a real theme going, I just wanted a cake, so I started with my basics - $75, with my DD's name and age somewhere. I stated that I wanted a chocolate cake with cookies and cream filling. I was open to icing versus fondant to cut costs. Pat was great and emailed me back suggestions for a Cinderella theme (we will be eating at 1900 Park Fare). I thought this might be helpful to others looking for ideas and to plan. These are all for a 6 inch cake.

For $75 we can make a 6-inch round cake with any color buttercream icing with mini white dots on the sides, topped with a big 2 in any color fondant and any Color bow around the base of the cake and 4 pink hearts on wires.

Or for $75 we can make a 6-inch round cake with any Color quilted fondant topped with a picture of the Cinderella Carriage, flowers, two each 3D pumpkins, 4 pink hearts on Wires.

Or for $75 we can make a 6-inch round cake with any Color buttercream icing with nice piping on the sides of the Cake topped with a picture any Princess or all the Princesses, flowers, 4 pink hearts on wires.

Or for $75 we can make a 6-inch round cake with any Color fondant with mini flowers on sides topped with a picture any Princess or all the Princesses, flowers, any color bow around base of cake.

Or for $75 we can do a 6-inch round topped with any color butter cream icing mini white dots on the sides topped with a 3D white crown made from a mold and flowers and any color piping around the base of the cake.

I opted with a buttercreamed Cinderella Carriage cake with more decoration, and I can't wait to see how it turns out!

Thanks so much! This is perfect. I need to call this week to start the process with Pat. My daughter wants "all the princesses" so I think we'll go with option 4. Was it difficult to get her to give you her email? I was under the impression from earlier threads that it was sometimes difficult.

I thought I would post my progress in ordering cakes so when we get them in 2 weeks, I’ll have my 10 posts to upload pictures I worked with Stephanie at Boardwalk Private Dining for an 8” 25th Anniversary cake with white fondant, vanilla cake, strawberry mouse, vanilla buttercream under fondant, silver Mickey stamps and silver detail and I wanted the bride & groom ears on top. After some sharing of pics via email, she said they found a white chocolate bride & groom to put on top. Other suggestions were a screen printed standing white choc piece or 2 circles and a tail. I chose the figurine. Total price $90. Stephanie was so great to work with and start to finish was 5 days to confirm design/order.

I am still working with Jane at WL private dining. Started yesterday with these. After some phone tag we connected and I requested 5, 2 tier mini customized cakes for a family birthday celebration at Artist Point (table of 16 please). Her 1st response was we no longer customize mini cakes. I said “I don’t think that’s true, could you double check?” She did and the pastry chef said OK and I emailed her my inspiration photos. She wanted to make sure that I didn’t want any custom cake flavors or fillings which I do not. So that process continues.

So far, all of this has been very smooth and easy, thanks to the wealth of information here

I was speaking with Jane at WL this morning too to order my son's birthday cake for December. She told me she didn't think she could do some things too but then double checked and then was able to. I don't know if she was having a bad morning or what but she came off to me kinda harsh/salty. I truly wasn't trying to make her life difficult, I just have a particular idea in mind for my son's cake so I'm hoping it turns out good. I emailed pictures of what I want and they said they can do it, so I'm going to keep my fingers crossed for success. This site/thread has been fantastic for information, thanks to everyone who has submitted things!

Nope! I called her originally, and she returned the call. I asked if I could email photo ideas, and she said sure.

I really do not get why they could not do the individual princesses, but I did not push it because my daughter is turning 2 - with my luck, she's going to be blown away by the frosting LOL! Pat specifically said ONE picture of all princesses is fine. They just couldn't do five individual pictures.

If you want anything different, just ask. The carriage cake I picked was originally with quilted fondant, but I opted to do frosting and more decoration. The picture is a screen print that Pat said would sit up on the cake. I think they then use the other decorations around it - I like the combo of 3D with a screen print to dress it up. Pat said they would decorate around the cake since I'm doing frosting. I refused to go over $75 - it's a 2 year old birthday, and she gets a cake, but I can't justify more money on it. If budget is important and the theme is open, I'd start with the budget.

Ha! Totally get it! I'm really trying to reign myself in here. I've saved all sorts of photos from this thread and showed to my daughter (who'll be turning 5 on our trip). The one she likes the most is a picture with all the princesses, frosting scrolls and roses. I want the quilting, but the reality is that SHE isn't going to care whether it's quilting or frosting scrolls! LOL! Oh the temptation!

Yeah, she was pretty short with me also. I sent her the email Wednesday, right after I spoke to her, and have not received a response. I will email her again tomorrow. If she doesn't respond I 'll call back Monday. Monday will be 12 days out.

Hi,
Just wondered if anyone can help.
I’m from the UK and have been trying to arrange a birthday cake for my sons 1st birthday.
I called the cake hotline (twice) and left a voicemail and have not heard back; it’s been over a week.
We have breakfast at Crystal Palace, lunch at be our guest and a dessert party @ Tomorrowland terrace. Any suggestions? All I can think of now is to order from Amorettes patisserie, stick the cake in a locker and hope it doesn’t melt until the evening.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

The Magic Kingdom doesn't offer custom cakes anymore. However, you can get the Mickey Mouse dome cake pictured in Post #1 of this thread (which is like what they serve at Amorette's) by requesting it at the podium when you check into Crystal Palace or Be Our Guest. Alternatively, each restaurant inside the Magic Kingdom offers one unique celebration dessert that can be preordered via WDW.Magic.Kingdom.Specialty.Desserts@Disney.com. You can see them all here: https://disneytravelbabble.com/how-to/order-cake/magic-kingdom-specialty-desserts/

On our next tip to The World we will be celebrating my birthday (the day after we arrive); Our 19th Anniversary (25 before we arrive); DH's 50th B-day (16 days after we leave) and DD's High School Graduation (1 month after we leave). So that is 4 celebrations. I have 4 separate meals planned. Of course I want to make everything special but there is no way we would be able to eat 4 cakes in the span of 8 days. Any suggestions. The restaurants are Tokyo Dining, Rose and Crown, O'hana, and Crystal Palace. I thought about doing cupcakes from Sprinkles. But, it appears that I would need to order a dozen in order to have delivery. I do not mind sharing with people in the restaurant, but I do not know if anyone would want cupcakes from a stranger.

honestly, in my experience people will definitely accept cupcakes from strangers. we’ve had cakes delivered at different restaurants over the years and every time we’ve gotten lots of attention from people at other tables. people would happily accept a slice of cake, so cupcakes feel like an easy share to me! i say go with the celebration options that feel best to you and fit in your budget—you’ll definitely be able to share your extras instead of wasting them.

There have also been reports of being able to get custom cupcakes in the past. You could choose the meal that feels most “special” to you and contact their cake line and ask about getting four custom cupcakes: one themed to each celebration.

Thank you! That is a great idea!

Thank you! I love my yummies! I will try not to feel like the weird lady offering cake to strangers :)

I don't care what my mother said—I will ALWAYS accept cupcakes from strangers! :teeth:

Tokyo Dining is not serviced by a Disney pastry team and Crystal Palace (and all the restaurants in MK) no longer offers custom cakes. So your best bets are O'hana and Rose and Crown. And since O'hana's cakes are made by the Grand Floridian pastry team, they might be the easiest to get ahold of and work with.

Years ago I got a custom cake at Disneyland (sadly they wouldn't do anything fancy like WDW so I didn't post it here but it was one of the tastiest cakes I ever had) and we shared with the tables around us. You'd think they'd won the lottery -- people were so excited! Definite pixie dust.

If a stranger came up to me on the street I'd be nervous but in a restaurant I think it's fine. In our case our waiter helped us serve it to the tables that accepted our offer.

As an aside, we've got a fancy cake ordered for our trip next week. We're having lunch at the Grand Floridian. I didn't order it but gave my cousin all the info from this board and he said it was easy. He dealt with Elizabeth and was able to email a pic of our cake inspiration. I can't wait to share it with you all! We both like simple so are just doing white cake with vanilla buttercream but wanted a pretty fondant covered cake. It's red quilted fondant with ribbons in white & green to be a bit Christmassy. We were quoted $120 for an 8 inch. He had asked for a 6 inch and they said no. I'm not sure why but he was fine with more cake. LOL.
