Yeah, it is a tough compromise. We were surprised at how much the trees at the end of the North wing by the boat dock were cleared out in the last year. There's definitely some natural variation.I love your WL pictures. I think that the courtyard trees are getting too big. They really block the gorgeous view.
Our first time was walking back from the buses late at night during our honeymoon, and it was walking right across the main walkway to the arcade. We couldn't believe our eyes, and thought we might just be really tired. Then I saw one down by the main pool a couple of years ago, and now my friend at Geyser Point. They're out there...I keep looking for armadillos and have never seen one. I guess I need to look in the bushes next time.
It can be really good food, and the atmosphere is hard to beat. We like having a mid day ADR to cool off, and BOG is as good as a Table Service in that regard.I love to eat lunch here because the braised pork is delicious. We ate here last month and it was really nice to sit in an air conditioned restaurant. It was really hot out.
Yeah, Allie wasn't feeling it that day, and we knew better than to push her. Oh well, we all still had fun.I would be a little sad, too, if the kids didn't want to participate. This show is adorable and I really enjoyed watching our grandchildren participate.
We've never seen them in CA either! They seem to do a good job avoiding people, but they're there.I'm keeping my eyes peeled for armadillos when we're there! Definitely don't see those in Maryland!
Yeah, and it's a shame because they're so cute. That's about all they're good for, a pretty picture. The broccoli tasted way better than the meatloaf, which is sad..I got both my kids that meatloaf because they love meatloaf at home and it is just not good.
Yeah, she felt she was robbed of a second chance to ride 7DMT. She got to pick Carousel of Progress though, and she would get another chance to ride 7DMT, so all was not lost.Love Allie's face on People Mover. I get that face often from my kids if we steer them in a direction they don't agree with. All part of the Disney fun. LOL.
Oh I know, us too! It is my favorite place anywhere, and I could take pictures of it all day. We can't wait to be back.Your pics of WL are making me miss it so much! I loved staying there this summer
It wasn't that disappointing for most of us, Allie just has bad luck here. We still enjoyed our food, and loved the atmosphere. It's a shame BOG was a disappointment. We weren't thrilled with it in July of 2017. We felt the food quality was really lacking, but the atmosphere is still AMAZING!
Great! Thanks for joining in, and we are glad that you are enjoying the report. You should love WL, it is even better in person than the pictures show. Your trip is almost here, we're excited for you.I am really enjoying your report. I have a 7 yo and 22 mo and we are going to WL for our first Disney vacation in a little over a month. Love your pictures - getting me super excited for our trip.
Ahh yes, the age old stroller dilemma. We debated about what to do this time, but it worked out well. We brought our City Mini double, and a Baby Jogger Tour that we used at the airport and whenever we wanted to be more mobile. For a double the City Mini really does pretty well on the boats and buses. One of us handles it and the other takes the kids. As long as there isn't too much underneath it it folds up nicely, and we can usually keep it out of the way on the bus. The big boats are no issue at all (since you can push it right on), and the smaller boats are ok, you just have to fold it. I like that it is narrow enough for most doorways, so it isn't too bad to push.I have a question about your stroller use. I noticed you are using a double stroller - how was it on the bus/boat? Enough space for the double stroller on the bus/boat?
We don't have a double stroller and at home the 7 yo doesn't use stroller anymore, but I really do think he will probably need one in Disney. So I'm trying to decide if I should bring our single Britax stroller and rent a single Disney stroller for the 7 yo at the parks. Or just rent the City Mini double stroller from Kingdom Strollers (we won't bring our own stroller so no stroller for the airport for the toddler - but I think it'll be okay as it's a direct flight).

We got a good deal on our City Mini Double by buying it used, and since it travels for free it works out for us to bring it. Having used it for a few trips now we are definitely money ahead over rentals, and it was close after one trip.
We aren't huge fans of the in park stroller rentals, but that would be an option for you if you find you need it. We do a lot of travel outside of the parks, and we use the strollers for that. We really enjoy checking out the resorts and Disney Springs as much as the parks, and we find the strollers to be useful there after a long day.
In your case we'd probably go with renting (or buying used) for a double as long as your 7 year old would be interested in riding in it. Ours really likes the double, and likes riding with her little brother. When we took the single, she wanted to ride when he was walking, and he didn't like that so he wanted to ride, and then the competition was on... We still haven't done the airport without a stroller, since it doesn't cost anything to bring one and he is often asleep while we travel through Orlando. We have direct flights too, but navigating MCO can still be a bit of a trek.
Good luck and feel free to ask any more questions that you may have.
Yes, we love BabyJogger. We have five different models of their strollers and love them. They are way nicer to use and fold than other brands we've had. Our City Mini single is our workhorse and has been through both kids. It might be hard to give that one up when the time comes.I can vouch for the brand BabyJogger. We have a City Mini GT Double and absolutely love it. Our 9 year old still wishes she could get in it on long walks, but unfortunately for her the stroller is now being used by her 4 year and 2 year old little sisters.
We had a journey like this back in March of 2017 when we were going to AKL for dinner at Boma. We thought it would take 45 minutes, tops and it took about 1 1/2 hours. To kick off the journey, we arrived at the bus stop at 4:05. We figured we'd go to MK, and get an AKL bus from there.
Our bus driver was kind enough to slow down when she saw deer and point them out to us. I enjoyed that part.We got to Fort Wilderness at 4:20. On the way back we saw deer, which was neat.
We had gotten off at Kidani on an earlier trip and the lobby isn't very exciting. We got to Kidani at 5:14, and finally Jambo at 5:20. We had planned to get off at Kidani and walk around, but we figured we didn't have time before our 5:45 reservation, so we saw it from the bus.
Your food looks delicious. I've heard good things about Jiko.I went with the steak, while Melissa chose a beef roast, with both of us figuring that we could share.
We always seem to get the large van-taxi when we order a Mears cab. Your cost of $17 was much cheaper than a Minnie van, too.Brandy asked the valet about getting a Taxi, and right at that moment a taxi van pulled up. Not only was he available with a big enough van for us, he had a car seat for Marshall.
It never did look like a dolphin to me.That makes way more sense then calling it the Dolphin.
Your Illuminations cruise looks like a lot of fun. I didn't know that they went past the resorts and DHS, too. The rumor is that they are ending Illuminations and bringing out a new show next year. So it is a good thing you saw it now.It was an incredible view and we are totally spoiled for watching it any other way.
You got lucky on that one.we got to the boat dock at 11:28, which was just in time for the last boat of the evening back to WL
Yeah, we've had a few of those, and that's enough to keep us from stating there for now. We still like to visit, and will try to head over there from AK next time. (Although we've had that take over 30 minutes before). We had a journey like this back in March of 2017 when we were going to AKL for dinner at Boma. We thought it would take 45 minutes, tops and it took about 1 1/2 hours.
Yeah, that's neat when they do that. The deer there always impress me.Our bus driver was kind enough to slow down when she saw deer and point them out to us. I enjoyed that part.
We have walked around there before, and while it is nothing compared to the Jambo lobby we kind of liked it. We wanted to show Jon and Brandy since that is where we'd probably stay since we could get a dedicated two bedroom there. Oh well, it won't be where we stay next trip.We had gotten off at Kidani on an earlier trip and the lobby isn't very exciting.
We enjoyed it. The food was very good, and it had a nice fancy atmosphere without being stuffy. We'd definitely go back.Your food looks delicious. I've heard good things about Jiko.
Yes, we were super happy, and the fact he showed up at just the right time was perfect. We really appreciated it, and he got a nice tip.We always seem to get the large van-taxi when we order a Mears cab. Your cost of $17 was much cheaper than a Minnie van, too.
Captain Ron explained that to us, it is supposed to be a "Dolphinfish", which is also known as Dorado and Mahi Mahi. The statue still looks more like a carp to me.It never did look like a dolphin to me.
Yes, we are glad we got in before the end of the show. It was just perfect, we are so glad we got to do it.Your Illuminations cruise looks like a lot of fun. I didn't know that they went past the resorts and DHS, too. The rumor is that they are ending Illuminations and bringing out a new show next year. So it is a good thing you saw it now.
Yeah, we knew we'd be cutting it close, and sure didn't want to have to walk back over to MK to get a WL bus.You got lucky on that one.
That will be coming up soon. We've got to pack up and check out of the 2 bedroom and head to Hollywood Studios in the next update, but then we get to return "home" to a cabin. At this point we were very curious about which one it would be.Can't wait to hear all about the cabins!
It's coming up. We took a couple of pictures too...Oooh excited to hear about the cabins!
I adore AKL! I stayed there in March (regular room), but rented DVC points for a suite in Jambo house in my trip in a month, plus am doing a 1-night there to surprise my mom in February. It's such a beautiful resort and we actually contemplated doing a split stay here for our next trip.
I thought that was going to be the plan, and while everybody enjoyed seeing the animals, we started to question the idea of this split stay while we were there. We rely on buses, and just haven't had the best luck in the past getting to and from there, even to AK.
We tied the boats up just after the bridge to France and we had the front row seats we wanted for over a year. Captain Ron gave us a fact sheet that he typed up himself about Illuminations. We also noticed that he had a blue name tag, indicating that he had been recognized for excellence by his peers.
We got lots of pictures as the show went on, and everyone had a ball.
We've always had horrible luck with AKL busses Every....Single....Time.I thought that was going to be the plan, and while everybody enjoyed seeing the animals, we started to question the idea of this split stay while we were there. We rely on buses, and just haven't had the best luck in the past getting to and from there, even to AK.
Neither could we! Soon...I can't wait to see the cabin!
It really was great. We will be back sometime.I love Jiko so glad it did not dissapoint.
Yeah, we can't think of a time where we had great luck. It is enough to keep us from staying here next time...We've always had horrible luck with AKL busses Every....Single....Time.
The cruise was great, and we will do at least one next time. We were all looking forward to the cabin, but we have a morning of fun to over first, so we'll start that now...Your illuminations cruise looks awesome.
Can't wait for the next adventure to the cabins.
On Wednesday I got up about 5:40, but hung out in the room and on the balcony until about 6:30.
Unfortunately he was just barely too short, which disappointed him.
