Disney's BOARDWALK INN Information & Questions

We only have stayed in the villas side but I bet there’s a similar stairwell on the Inn side. I have used a stairwell multiple times on the far side of the violas towards the Dolphin. Great way to head to avoid the lobby for a direct way to get on the path to the studios.
There is not
Only stairs go to pool

I just called Boardwalk and they definitely put my mind at ease. You will not be able to take the boat to Epcot but the walkway will still be open:flower1: We always walked because it is so much faster anyway!
Did you happen to ask if the boats would be running between the resorts and HS? Still hoping that's a possibility. Thanks.
I do realize nothing is official yet.

Dave found something about this (click on the attachment):

The only thing that has been officially announced relates to the Swan / Dolphin and the Friendship boat service to / from HS and Epcot. The comments about the IG entrance being closed is just a rumor at this point. Disney has not made any formal announcement(s).

Good question. Between the construction of the huge new bus area and the gondola stuff it’s a mess over there, but it’s across the canal from the boat dock at the studios, at least where it is currently located.

I can walk to Epcot from BW. Then I'll just stay in World Showcase.
But, the walk to DHS from BW or from the temporary bus stops is a little too much for me. Cancer treatments really took/take a lot out of me. I'm not quite ready for a scooter yet though. Might have to cancel this Christmas trip and hope for better luck next year.

If the boats aren’t running from BW to DHS there will be a bus. Disney won’t force you to walk.

Rent a scooter. It will make it so much easier for you and you won't have to worry about being tired out. The bus drivers are really nice with helping you load your scooter on the bus and getting it off the bus.

Oh, don't cancel! Now more than ever you need some Disney magic!:tink:

I rented a scooter last time when we stayed at YC and will again this year at BWI. I don't normally need any assistance, but WDW taxes even healthy people to their limits! At first I felt a little self-conscious, but people are so nice. It completely made the difference for me- and so my family was a lot happier, too.

Make sure you know what's really going on before you cancel.

I have read three different rumors.
Rumor # 1: International Gateway will be closed.
Rumor # 2: No boats to Epcot.
Rumor # 3: No boats to Hollywood Services.

I think a message on the Swan & Dolphin website may have started (or at least contributed) to the rumor. The message has been changed. It now says:

The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin is an Epcot® resort hotel. Guests of the resort enjoy complimentary scheduled transportation throughout the entire Walt Disney World® Resort so that you can come and go at your convenience.

As Disney Skyliner construction continues near International Gateway at Epcot in the coming months, International Gateway will remain open to Guests traveling along the connected pedestrian walkway.

During construction, Friendship Boat service will remain available to the resort hotels around Crescent Lake as well as Disney's Hollywood Studios. While Friendship Boat service to Epcot is expected to be unavailable from late November until mid-December, Guests will be able to use bus service or the walkway to access Epcot.

This addresses rumors 1 and 2:
"A representative from Disney was nice enough to reach out to us today to give us the official word on what’s happening at Epcot’s International Gateway next month. This update comesjust a few hours after our “rumor” post earlier today.

Despite what information is being distributed by the Swan and Dolphin Hotels, International Gateway will remain open November 28th through December 18th, 2018, but Friendship Boat service to the park will be unavailable. Disney will offer resort guests bus service to the front entrance of Epcot, or they can still walk to International Gateway and enter there."

Hey guys! We have a DVC rental booked at BWV for 12/16-12/23 (woot woot!). We have just added a night (regular reservation through Disney) due to finding a better flight the day before (the 15th) - 1pm flight vs EARLY EARLY morning flight. We are looking at POR for the extra night. We had planned for our original arrival day (16th) to be spent at DS so we felt that POR would be a good choice for the extra night as we can take the boat to DS the next morning. I have a couple of questions: 1) I can take our luggage to Bell Services at POR the next morning and they will transfer to BWV for us, correct? 2) I don't have to go there before going to DS to check in, I can do online check in (and hope it works) and I hopefully will get a room ready text that afternoon sometime? 3) we have the DDP starting on our original arrival day (16th), so that should start working whether we go to BWV first or not, right? Thanks so much for any help, I do appreciate it!

Yes to questions 1 and 3. However, for question 2, the room notice thing hasn’t worked in our last two trips so I won’t trust it.

1, yes. bags will not make it till about 4:00, maybe even as late as 5:00. So keep this in mind. If you aren't getting over to BWV on moving day till that afternoon then it won't matter. It'
2, correct, you do not
3, sorry can't help with DP stuff

Re #2, obviously if you don't get a room ready text (or any other notice, such as "please come to the front desk") you can go to the front desk at BWV anytime to check on your room status. Just remember that check-in time for DVC villas is 4:00 PM and sometimes they won't be ready until later than that (I think we waited until 7 or 7:30 once or twice). So if you get your room at 4:00 or before, hooray! but don't count on it whether you do online checkin or not. (We always check in online and get room-ready texts most of the time but not always.)

Thank you all! We plan to be at DS until after dinner time - we have a dinner reservation at 5pm, so it would be after that before we got back to BWV anyways. I really appreciate the replies!

make sure you check out of POR when you leave. That will help with your dining plan. On our trip two weeks ago, we never got the text message even though we checked in at the desk and made sure they had the correct telephone number (they didn't). BUT, I did check my email and there was a message there. And the room number also showed up on MDE on my phone. We were really busy until just after 3PM and went over to the resort and sat down to wait for the message. After a few minutes, I decided to check MDE on my phone and the room number was there. We went up to the room and we got in just fine.
