Welcome!

This was a last minute trip, a trip where we left our children at home, a trip to celebrate DH's new job, a trip see how many items we could try at Food & Wine, a trip to meet some friends that i have made here on the boards!

Needless to say it was a great trip!

If you are new to my trip reports, let me start with some introductions!

First me!

My name is Ariella! I am always the planner of these trip and your guide on this trip report! I am the mom of 2 girls, Morgan and Gwen. You won't see them in this trip report as we left them at home!

Then there is my DH!

Andy and I have been married 12 years now. We toyed with the idea of coming to Disney for our anniversary, but we decided not to. And while the alternative trip was fine, it just wasn't THAT festive. And I think ever since we have been trying to make up for that.

So, how did this trip come to be? You say it was last minute? YUP!

Andy has been at his job for 10 years and was ready to move onto bigger and better things. And he had handed a new job with a promotion! So, I floated the idea of a trip away just the 2 of us between jobs. He liked that idea. And then when it was official official, I floated the idea of Disney for Food & Wine. He liked that too! So it was on! We had to make some arrangements for the girls as they still needed to go to school. But we got that squared away.

And in one night, I basically booked our trip!

We got a decent rate at Coronado Springs and since it was just the two of us, we didn't really care where we stayed. I took ZERO pictures of the resort! It is still heavily under construction. But we were fine with it.

So, please join me for a short story about our first ever adults only trip! It was short, It was alot of fun, and it was HOT!!!

Travel Day!

So, the plan was to get the girls off to school, and head to the airport. Our flight wasn't till 2:00 pm, so we were able to take our time. We had to have the girls packed for one night at friends houses and then the weekend at Andy's parents house. So, i had some last minute packing for the girls and ourselves. We finished up with a half or so to spare, and we kind of sat down in the living room and looked at each other like, now what!

Our Magic Bands for 2! As a side note, I booked our trip 2 weeks and 2 days before our date to leave. I booked it and immediately customized our magic bands. I wasn't sure if they would make it to us in time. But they did!!! They processed the Magic bands the next day and we got them with time to spare!

We left our house 10 minutes early since we were ready to go and well, had nothing to do! Which is good, as we were too busy talking and missed an exit and had to turn around. But that killed that extra 10 minutes. Other than that our drive to the airport was uneventful. We had to park in Long Term Parking. Which has been ok for us so far. But man that lot was FULL! We were so far in the back! But we parked and didn't wait long at all for a shuttle bus.

Once our bags were checked and we got through security, it was time for lunch!

We started with 2 cold beers!

I was apparently excitied about our beers, as these weren't the only pictures I took of them!

We also ordered food. We split Crab Fries and a Chicken Sandwich from Chickie and Pete's. We live in the greater Philadelphia area, and crab fries are a big thing. They are basically just french fries with Old Bay Seasoning on them and served with warm cheese sauce. I have grown to love them and have become a tradition at the airport! Sorry no pics. I always forget to take the food pics in the airport.

We had just enough time to eat and head over to the gate.

Our flight was pretty uneventful and soon enough we were in Orlando! With no kids, getting off the plane and over to Magical Express seemed effortless. Of course, Andy made a work call on the way.

At this point, he hasn't even started at the new place and one his soon to be employees text him and asked if they could talk. it was a short call he was done by the time the Pho-Monorail came and delivered us to the other side.

We got over to Magical Express and there was lots of people checking in, but no one actually waiting!

I managed to pick a good line, as the people next to us seemed like they hadn't actually signed up for magical express and then the other line had folks who I am pretty sure didn't speak english.

We were given a line and waited a total of 1 minute before they sent us to a bus.

We got on and finally snapped our traditional Magic Band shot.

Only 2! So, exciting and a little bitter sweet at the same time.

We only waited maybe 5 minutes and the bus left! It was fantastic. They bus was going to Coronado Springs and somewhere else, that I can't remember. BUT there was a total of 1 kid on the whole bus! ONE! I said you could tell we were going to Coronado and that it was Food & Wine!

While on the bus, I realized we hadn't gotten our room text and 5 minutes before we pulled in, I got the text! I didn't make any requests, so, I didn't really care. We were in Ranchos Building 7B. Not the farthest rooms but pretty far.

Man this place was under some major construction still. It wasn't horrible and we never heard any of it. But driving up didn't have that magical feel to it. Since we had our room # we went straight through the lobby.

I snapped a quick pic of the fountain. It was really beautiful! It wasn't that hard to find our room. And I just love skipping check in! We have had a few bad check in experiences.

Up next, we check out the room and head to dinner!

That's awesome! No line, leaving quickly, and only one kid on the bus? Food & Wine for the win :D Excited to read more!

Yay!!! I’ve been looking forward to this report. So glad to hear that you had a great trip!!! As wonderful as WDW is with kids, isn’t adults only so much fun...and ridiculously easy breezy?!?!

Annnd, I’m pretty sure that DH and I had crab fries and beers at the same table (if not, then one right behind or in front of you) at PHL Chickie & Pete’s prior to our adults-only WDW trip last November. Cheers!!!

Following along. I was in the Philly airport last month: we opted not to go for the crab fries (it was 8am) but I did briefly consider it :-)

:welcome: That is pretty funny, although Chickie & Pete's isn't very big. We tried to sit in that new "outdoor" area and that was packed! We have had amazing luck getting a table in there, we have managed to get a table with the girls as well. I don't know how...

We def just went with the flow ALOT more and it was fantastic.

Disney Springs: Let the drinking and eating begin!

So, once we found our room, we checked out the room. Coronado is primarily a convention resort and I knew that some things would be a little nicer. And I knew that most of the rooms were newly renovated. (possibly all of the rooms?)

I loved the rooms. I know some people don't like the hard wood floors but they feel like you can walk on them bare foot and not be grosses out. We stayed at a hotel once (not a disney hotel) But the carpet must have been cleaned recently and it was still wet. It was so gross!

I think they had talked about how big the tv was on the disunplugged podcast once. And they were right, it was HUGE!

I was mostly excited that they had a K-Cup machine!

I NEED that first cup of coffee and there is just something about those other machines that it just doesn't taste as good. Probably all mental...

Look! Mickey's on the K-Cups!

I checked out the cool glass front fridge, and the awsome bathroom shower head! i seriously want it for our house when we redo our bathroom one day!

Then it was time to head out. I wanted to actually wander and shop without having to worry about where the girls were at all times. I opened up the Disney App and checked to see when the next DS bus was coming. This worked out amazing all week by the way and my new favorite thing.

The app said there was a bus coming at 6:10, so we headed out.

And I barely had time to snap this picture. Our room was fairly far from the main lobby but the bus stop was just behind our building. And there was only one more stop before the busses headed out to the parks, so it worked out well.

Our bus was full of older women with buttons saying it was some sort of girls reunion trip. Which made me think of the May trip that some folks are planning. I won't make it this year, but hopefully I can make the second annual trip.

We got to Disney Springs and just started to wonder around. It was about 6:30 and our reservation was for 7:30. But we were hungry! I suggested we grab a drink over at Jock Lindsey's Hangar Bar. I had contemplated just eating apps there but ended up booking a dinning reservation. But I still wanted to go over.

So, we headed over that way. It was only half full, so we were able to grab a table where ever, so I picked a table on the boat!

We could see the AmpheCars launching from there.

It was a beautiful night. Perfect for just sitting outside.

We ordered some drinks first.

The Drink on the left is Andy's Drink:
Reggie's Revenge:
My signature Cocktail with an extra little kick from my pet snake reggie.
Florida Cane "Orlando Orange" Vodka, Midori melon liqueur, white cranberry juice, and fresh lime juice

He liked it enough to drink all of it. I don't think it was his favorite drink ever. But good.

I went with the drink on the right:
Cool-Headed Monkey
According to the locals this chilled Rum concoction makes a fine punch!
Starr African Rum, Van Der Hum Tangerine Liqueur, Fresh lime juice, Watermelon, and Pineapple Juice

This was really good. You can really taste the Tangerine in it which you don't usually see in drinks.

We also decided to order 1 appetizer, because we were starving!

Nang Tao Spicy Popcorn Chicken
Crispy Chicken Chunks and Popcorn tossed in spicy Togarashi Seasoning served with Korean Pepper Sauce

These were really good. The chicken was moist and the seasoning wasn't too spicy but had a good flavor to it. And the seasoning on the popcorn was nice as well. Def all different flavors and probably not for everyone. And how fun is the presentation? It was a perfect bar app to munch on while drinking.

While we sat, we texted with the two families who had kindly picked up the girls from school and were taking care of them tonight.

We tried to get a selfie and it's not bad but Andy is looking somewhere else.... He looked at it later and was like What in the World am I looking at! Ha! What can I say, we are old and don't have a self game...

We took our time with our food and drinks. We commented that we could def bring the girls here, they would like the pretzel that is served on the airplane rack thing. We decided to only get one drink here, we had more food and drink coming our way.

So, we settled the bill and headed over to The World of Disney. I wanted to wander around that giant store with no one to worry about where they were. So, we headed over and went in... And it was still half closed. Boo. Time was getting short, so we kind of just did a walk through. And then headed out to go to dinner.

Up next dinner with the most amazing ribs!

And I knew that most of the rooms were newly renovated. (possibly all of the rooms?)
They all are renovated and open now! :thumbsup2

the carpet must have been cleaned recently and it was still wet. It was so gross!
Ewww, that is disgusting. I am with you, most of the time I bring socks or slippers so that I don't have to be barefoot in the hotel room. I much prefer the new hard flooring.

I was mostly excited that they had a K-Cup machine!
Best feature in the room!

And I barely had time to snap this picture. Our room was fairly far from the main lobby but the bus stop was just behind our building.
That is so convenient! We stayed over in the Cabanas on our first visit and were really close to the bus stop and a quiet pool. It was a great location. Our room was a little farther from the bus stop in August but we drove most everywhere so it was no big deal.

This was really good. You can really taste the Tangerine in it which you don't usually see in drinks.
That sounds really tasty! Did you pick up on the watermelon flavor at all? Watermelon is hit or miss for me.

So, please join me for a short story about our first ever adults only trip! It was short, It was alot of fun, and it was HOT!!!
It was freaking HOT when we went last month and everyone is still reporting it's ridiculously hot this month; but being kid-free makes it all O-K ;)

With no kids, getting off the plane and over to Magical Express seemed effortless. Of course, Andy made a work call on the way.
Even with my boys being older than yours, everything is easier without the kids lol. The thing we like best is being able to switch around our plans, or not have plans, and not having to worry what they'll think! Who'll be made we're giving up a FP or won't be able to get a specific FP if we go to a different park, who won't be happy with a meal, who won't want to leisurely stroll somewhere, etc.

Only 2! So, exciting and a little bitter sweet at the same time.
::yes:: You know I love our adults only trips but there are always a couple points where I do miss the kids.

I loved the rooms. I know some people don't like the hard wood floors
I'm one who isn't a fan of the hardwood floors so much, but I do love the redone CSR rooms! Not sure why the floors didn't other me so much there, the missing carpet DID bother me at Yacht and Pop. I also like CSR all-around so that could be it. We've never been in Ranchos though; I know it's convenient to the pool which would have worked better if you had the girls (and the pool is closed now I believe anyway) and all sections have a bus stop, but yeah a hike to El Centro.

Which made me think of the May trip that some folks are planning. I won't make it this year, but hopefully I can make the second annual trip.
I wish you could come! But wait, we're doing it yearly?? Ok :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I had a couple of these on our visit to Jock Lindsay's lol, loved it!
