Official Disney Cake Chatter - Part V!

I LOVE this! What size did you order? And what was the flavor? My DD is having her 2 year old birthday at 1900 Park Fare, and I’ve only found one cake I like. I think I like this one better, because it is elegant. But I need it to be cheaper lol. I’m wondering if there is something I can cut to cut the price.
Hi, It was a 6-8 person cake and it was chocolate inside with a white filling. It was very sweet!

Does anyone know how that the strawberry flavored fruit filling for a cake tastes? My daughter loves chocolate but chocolate cake, chocolate filling and chocolate icing are a bit much for anyone. I thought maybe chocolate cake, strawberry filling and vanilla icing? Any suggestions? By the way I have had great response from the cake department about getting a stitch cake done! Claudia has been very easy to work with !

I read through the past threads before ordering my cake, and a lot of people seemed to like the strawberry filling. I went with strawberry mousse and fresh strawberries as the filling on my cake. We’ll be getting our cake November 9th, and I will post the results here, so if yours is after that date I can let you know how it is. I think you can make even major changes to your cake up to a few days in advance if you change your mind.

The incredibles cake I had made (you can see it on page 101) was chocolate cake with strawberry mousse filling with chocolate buttercream under the fondant. I had that one made for my 7 yo son who loves the combo and he loved this cake! I had it done with the Contemporary cake team.

I talked to Terry at the Contemporary and she acted like my B’rer Rabbit log cake idea was impossible and likely insane ( i did send a sketch—it’s just a brown cake with briars and bees drawn on it and the red bindle in the middle )I was like well, can you do a blue bottom half and a pink top half and a white fluffy tail on top? She says “what do you mean?” I was like, “That’s B’rer Rabbits outfit”. Then she says “maybe we can do a log kind of cake with a screen print of splash mountain on white chocolate with a flume going down the drop.” So I said great, do you have a photo? But she doesn’t have a photo of this. I told her I wanted Born in that Briar Patch written somewhere and she goes “is that a slogan, because they won’t do slogans”. I said it was just an expression we use up here in Georgia to let someone know we are familiar with a situation. I mean Disney doesn’t own this phrase, right? The whole thing is pretty comical, but I am not certain what my cake will look like. :joker:

Hey y'all! Today was Moana cake day!!! Y'all, I'm so happy my daughter's reaction was perfect! She kept leaning in to pick Pearl's and chocolate bits out. This was an 8 inch marble with strawberry and custard filling delivered to Sanaa. Of course you can't see the sparkle on the cake but the whole thing shimmered and we have so much left over!! Cake for days!20181020_131622.jpg in

There is a Splash cake earlier in this thread which is similar - if you search Splash Mountain it should show up. I’m on my phone otherwise I’d try and link it. We had a similar cake last month. I’ll try and post an image later but I’ll have to make it smaller as it’s too big at the moment :)

I am so glad you had a splash cake you were happy with! I hope you can post a photo, but I will also search

Just my own 2-cents...1. I have a friend with Celiacs and they order GF fondant cakes through the Grand Floridian Bakery every single trip. They have never had any issues and the cakes are always beautiful. 2. My older daughter has peanut and tree nut allergies and while I've had some concern from the bakeries, they've always done a great job of making cakes that she was able to eat. 3. (I know- I said 2 cents...not 3) I'm not a fan of the Erin McKenna cakes. The cakes I've seen just look so blah.

Thank you! I am also second guessing Erin McKenna. Locally I buy him cakes from nothing bundt cakes and they only have 1 flavor that's GF, everything else is not, and he's never had any issues with cross contamination. I think he'll be fine with getting a GF cake from a shared facility.

Good Morning! Thank you to all 5 parts of this thread for all the inspiration, instructions, and tips! I am currently working with Boardwalk Private Dining for an 8" custom cake for a 25th Anniversary celebration at Flying Fish. An interesting note, that although there are many photos of bride & groom ears on these type of cakes, Private Dining tells me that the bakery does not have them. She is double checking for me.
Today I am also going to contact WL Private Dining for mini-tier cakes for a dinner at Artist Point (got one of the last dinner reservations before its converted to the Character Dinner). I need some inspiration for a Toy Story themed mini-cake. Has anyone ordered/received one they could share a picture of? I plan to email/attach WDW mini-cake photos of the others I am ordering but this one escapes me. I see plenty of non WDW cake ideas/photos. Is it OK to send them a picture of a non-WDW cake for ideas? Or just better to try and describe it?

I ordered a cake to be sent to our room. Do you know if we have to be in the room when it is delivered? I forgot to ask when I ordered. I want to make sure I am back in the room if we need to be.

Photos are always best, and it doesn't matter where they come from. I feel like I've seen a few cute cakes themed after the Pixar Luxo ball—yellow with a blue stripe and a red star.

You do not need to be in the room but you need to be checked in.

Does anyone know if amorette's delivers their larger cakes to resorts or restaurants? Placed a phone call to them but only got answering machine.

Thank you! That's what I thought but I couldn't remember for sure. All I really remember from last time I ordered a cake was the delivery not going quite right lol. I ordered our anniversary cake as a surprise, no one in our party knew about it but me. When we got back to the room it was not there. When I called Pat about it, she couldn't find it either! I was so upset and finally told my sister, then we went to the pool to relax and have a drink. While we were there, they called the room and said they had the cake! My husband and my father were sooooo confused. Hopefully this surprise goes better than the last one.
