Disney's CARIBBEAN BEACH RESORT Information & Questions

Just tried to book a room for June 2019 and the only room available is the standard room with a 5th sleeper. Would all the rooms be booked up this early or is this something to do with the refurbishment.
So we booked a preferred room for December 2019....it will be me, dh, ds, and daughter in law...we'll also have our then 14 month old granddaughter. We booked this because we knew we would convert it to the bounce back free dining (which we did last week). When we booked the bounce back the only rooms available were the Pirate Rooms. I'm a bit worried this will be really cramped. It'll be for 4 nights (hoping Star Wars land will be open by then)....and we'll move to a 1bd villa for 2 nights after CBR. Do you think the Pirate rooms will work?

Well, if I'm not mistaken the pirate rooms are still full sized beds, not queens. Additionally I don't think they have pull down beds. I've personally never stayed in one, but here is a review if you care to read.

Gosh, I forgot how negative that review was ... sorry ... didn't mean to be a nay sayer

Probably not a good idea. The Pirate Room beds aren't queen size and there is no Murphy bed. Unless all of you are short and skinny, and you all get along amazingly well and are with an absolute angel of a 14mo old.

I read somewhere that preferred rooms went away during the construction, was this true?

any changes in preferred/standard now that construction is done?

best standard room to request?

Not completely true. They did reclassify the Preferred rooms in Martinique to Standard during construction. But the Preferred rooms in Trinidad North, now named Barbados, did not change.

Word is that the rooms in Martinique that were Preferred pre construction, changed to Standard during construction are now back to Preferred. But no confirmation on that yet.

best standard room to request?

Our favorite locations for Standard are Jamaica 45 and Aruba 51. Both are a short 3-4 minute stroll across the bridge to OPR and the Main Feature pool. Actually closer than some of the Preferred rooms in Barbados and Martinique.

I was looking at those, good for bus stops as well? Do the buses circle CBR randomly? (clockwise/counterclockwise)

Ugh. Was really counting on the free dining and really wanted to stay at CBR for the gondola transportation.

Depending on your style of visit at WDW, and setting everyone's expections and your situation, it could still work.

Also, I have no clue on the rules they have for more than 4 guests especially involving a 14mo old as a 5th.

No pull down beds, but you can get a crib right? I believe years ago we've stayed in full sized beds before, they're not that much smaller than a queen :) Right? It's definitely do able, and free dinning is definitely worth sacrificing a little bit :)

Jeez, sorry to blast the thread, but I also just remembered there is the new restaurant there as well, the spyglass which I believe has gotten really good reviews, and ... with the new style soda machines it also lessons the distance of the pirate rooms, (won't have to be running up all the time for a soda refill).

You can request a pack-n-play, not a real crib.

We will definitely discuss all the specifica so no one is shocked at the room size/layout. I will keep trying to get a different room category and I'm guessing switching to a 1 bed villa afterwards will seem like a mansion :rotfl2:

I watched that video that was posted a page ago and it looks so nice! The freestyle sofa machines are also a huge plus for us. Traveling with our granddaughter will be very different as we haven't been to WDW with kids since 2007.....we've made several trips as a couple many times since.

Yes, I have requested the pack n play, which will sacrafice some floor space :scratchin
