recommended but not required. Usually its next month. In case something happens like chase still sees u having a Sapphire product, they will deny u, u would either need to make your case with chase or wait till next month.
if you wait, then its most likely u wont have any issue. its like a better safe than sorry idea.

Thanks!

I could be wrong...but think the 30 days to apply is if your canceling the card....thought I’d read with a product change you can apply a few days after cancelling the card...there is a lot of information out there to keep track of

..hopefully someone who has produced changed, then reapplied will answer
This is what I was thinking as well...since the account wasn't really closed, you don't have to worry about them reopening it when you reapply.

We just dropped $376 at Sam's and it was somewhat painful realizing that we don't have a CF to use :crazy2:. I'm thinking P2 will apply for that in December sometime!

I'm thinking I may have found a non-Disney home for my UR: the Nickelodeon All Inclusive in Punta Cana. It's showing up for me in the UR portal and Southwest flies there! We can tack on 4 nights to our WDW trip next July for approx 150,000 UR. Southwest flies there so we can use RR points and the CP I'm hoping to get early next year. Woo hoo, I'm actually pretty excited about this!

We love Punta Cana! We’ve been 5 times. Love that SW flies there direct from BWI. It has been our go to spot to spend Christmas the last 2 years. Kind of sad that we’ll have to endure the cold this Christmas since we have decided to stay home :(

AmEx really needs to update its airline selection list. AirTran hasn’t existed for quite some time. That should be an easy fix.

Where does the time go??! I just had my husband check on his CSP account. He got the card on May 18, 2014. He can product change to the Freedom and then apply for a new CSP or CSR in 30 days? It's been 48 months correct? I'm paranoid about making a wrong move.
Do you have a CSP or CSR currently, or is his the only Sapphire card you guys have?

Anyone see any foreseeable issues with me PCing my CSP to CFU now that I’ve got my Univeral tickets? Have the confirmation email, just says to bring it and my ID to will call at USO to pick my tickets up. CFU number should be the same as CSP, so I’m not seeing any issues...

Thanks everyone! I am looking for advice about what new card(s) I should get. I currently have the SW Chase Visa with a little bit of a balance owed, that card was opened in 2014. No other AUs. I paid it off monthly until about 1.5 years ago when I bought my house and "needed" new furniture. Other than that indulgence I'm really good about not overspending. I was thinking I would transfer that balance to a 0% interest rate card to help me pay it off, and hopefully that card can also earn me rewards; or I could open a 2nd card to actually use and earn rewards with. My travel goal is an internation trip in 2021 and another international trip in 2022 (these will be graduation gifts to my 2 oldest nephews). I am single so my initial required spend for bonus points on the card probably needs to be low. Also, I can probably have my parents join in the action to help me earn rewards as well (my mom can't really travel anymore). They could either be AUs on my card(s), or get their own; whichever would be most helpful. Dad still has a small business, so they are eligible for both personal and business cards. The 3 of us together earned 7 free transcon tix and 2 companion passes through sign up bonuses alone on SW back in 2014 so we are not completely new to this; it's just been a while. Thanks in advance for any advice!
Do NOT use your parent’s small biz for biz cards. Business credit reports exist & you don’t want to mess that up for them in anyway so stay away. If you want a biz card get your own for YOUR small business (eBay, etsy, Craigslist, etc).

Also do not make your parents AUs on your cards, you could bring down their credit card scores in doing so if they have excellent credit.

I say this with the best intentions: Stashing travel points for future travel when you could actually use cash today is a very bad idea. You cannot see the future- points lose value, programs change, life circumstances change. So solve today’s problem and rid yourself of all cc debt and then pick your first card toward your future trip. “But 5/24! But all the best cards are travel points! But cash isn’t the point! But I’m not getting anything back on my spending right now! But I could transfer to 0% and pay it off when I feel like it. Etc...” I’m gonna be blunt: none of those matter if you have any credit card debt that you cannot payoff with cash right now. Yes, 0% is better than the interest you’re paying now- so transfer and pay it off asap. After you payoff the credit card debt completely wade back into the cc waters and pick one card and work through the spend on it, paying it on time EVERY month. If that works out then move onto a 2nd card. If it doesn’t work out own up to it, pay it off as soon as you can & stay away from credit cards completely, they aren’t for you.

CC offers aren’t going anywhere. There will always be another great cc sign up bonus when you’re ready.

ETA: there is no way to preserve travel point value aside from actually using the points

How were you able to get them? Chase Twitter account?

I can’t help but it’s like how my spending on spg biz between the time my July statement closed and 8/1 got treated as August spending and was only worth 2 Marriott points /$ not 3. It’s minor compared to your issue but still seems unfair.

Took me a while to finally look up my SPG Biz statements, because I know I got the 3 points like I should, so you should have gotten an adjustment line in your SPG account for the converted points pre 8/1:

AmEx SPG 8/1 changeover

Statement 7/21 – 8/20

Transactions 7/24 – 7/31 = 670

8/28 two sets of points posted in my SPG account, 670 base spend and “Spg Ax Base Spend Adjustment” for 1350. So I got all my transactions at 3x like I should with those two credits.( actually a couple more that I'm not going to complain about)

Just some ammunition if you decide to go back to get them if you didn't get the correct adjustment. You absolutely should have gotten 3 new points for each old SPG point earned before 8/1 since AmEx used a specific date rather than a statement cycle.

I see you e already gotten some advice. I have to say, I’d recommend a plan for your outstanding balance first. Whether it be paying it off outright, or applying for and receiving a 0% Card for balance transfers with a plan to pay $x per month until it’s paid off. Get that set up first and then work on the rewards cards especially since you don’t have specific travel goals and your graduation gifts are a bit off. Paying interest on current balances negates savings from rewards cards as I’m sure you know.

So AmEx has me confused. My first Gold statement closed on 10/9 but I don’t see any MR listed and I still have a 0 balance. Don’t I receive MR from that spend when the statement closes?
