New years eve at Animal Kingdom?

We want to avoid the crowds. Knowing that Magic Kingdom and Epcot will be pack full, we are thinking about Animal Kingdom.

Have you been on New Years Eve? Would you recommend, why or why not?

I believe AK closes at 8pm on New Years Eve, so this is probably not a very good choice. But I actually think that Epcot although crazy is manageable. Especially if you can book a reasonably late dinner. We really enjoyed our New Years Eve there.

It probably will have the least amount of crowds, but it will close the earliest and have no fireworks so if that matters it probably isn't a good choice. If you don't mind that, go for it.

@wrestler72 We are trying to plan our day at Epcot on NYE. What time to arrive, drive or take bus, when and where to eat, what FPS to book, etc. Since you’ve been before, why would you prefer a late dinner on NYE?

I arrived at EPCOT for NYE 2015/16 at around 8 pm. We did dinner at boardwalk, FP at character spot, then just took in the sights and sounds! Drinks and waited for our firework spot in Canada, so we didn't venture far into WS. It was perfect and I loved it!!! One of my best Disney memories ever.

Arriving late is nice because my kid wasn't exhausted and cranky come midnight and neither were we. We were in WDW for 2 weeks so we didn't feel the need to spend all day at a park.

Not the poster you tagged.. But I've also been at Epcot on NYE.

It's amazing and the atmosphere is like no other day at Disney. However know that lines will be the longest of the entire year.

This is where you decide what time do you want to arrive. Are you going to want to spend all day in a park with standby lines snaking out of the buildings (I'm looking at you Figment), walking around for hours enjoying the crowds and parties going on in certain countries, trying to see if multiple FP's are available? Or are you going to want to arrive later in the day and not spend all day there?

When we went we arrived around 10am. Living with the land was already a 55 min wait. We had a blast and it was fun. But next time I'd opt to arrive later in the day. You're going to be there until about 12:30am, so I'd say arriving around 3 or 4pm would still give plenty of time to see everything. You arrive super early, you're likely going to be pretty tired by the time it's getting close to the fireworks.

As far as FP's to book..just whatever rides you want to ride. Every ride will have long waits so grab what you can and then go for extra FP's after you use them.

I'd do a later dinner ADR, say around 7pm, to give a break from the crowds. There's fireworks at 6:30 and 12:30, so I would plan to be near the water at those times

The main point is (as mentioned in a previous post) to get away from the crowds. You can spend nice couple of hours waiting for the New Years celebrations to begin. However well you are prepared it is still tiring. And booking a lunch (if you start early) is not a bad idea either
