MaxPass and Disneyland App questions

I have read the various things about Max Pass and I used it when DD and I went last year. However, I still have some questions because our usage this time will be different.

Last time both our tickets were loaded onto my account on my phone. All FP were chosen from my phone using MaxPass. I don't think she used her phone at all for Disney stuff that day. This coming trip we will be a group of 5. I know we will want to split up and rejoin throughout the day. I am planning to buy all the tickets directly through Disney and purchase MaxPass at the time I buy the tickets.

Do we each set up our own individual Disney account to log in to the app with? If so, do we scan or enter our tickets so everyone has access to make FP for everyone else? I understand how it works with everyone being on one phone or with everyone having their own phones. It's the switching back and forth that I am wondering about.

I would think you need to have the same account logged in on the different phones If you want to use max pass while together and split up for just a portion of the day. If you want different accounts, you can link whatever tickets you want to each account and go that route.
If you use the same account, you can select 2 out of the 5 people for say Guardians while the other 3 select Soarin. Just an example.
Hope that makes sense. :-)

You can either set up different accounts for everyone and scan the tickets into each one, or you can let everyone log in to your account (if you're comfortable with that). Either way you should all have full access for the purposes of MaxPass. You don't need to do anything special to "switch" between using one phone and using separate phones. When you go to use Max Pass you'll just select which people you want to include on that FP, so if you're planning to split up you would un-check the tickets of the people who won't be with you. MaxPass allows canceling FP, so if someone accidentally grabs a FP for someone else's ticket, it can be easily fixed.

If you’re not going until March I’d buy the tickets direct from Disney.

If you’re going soon they’re quite a bit cheaper at last minute travel club.

I'm curious why you make this recommendation? We always do LMT and NEVER Disney regardless of how soon the trip is because LMT is always cheaper and tickets can still be used with no extra fee even if the price at Disney has increased.

THE cost of maxpass could go up quite a bit in the next increase. I’m buying next years tickets direct from Disney with maxpass before that.

I would still go with LMTClub - the price of MaxPass would have to more than double to cancel out the LMT discount. A five-day hopper with MP from Disney is $420. LMT's five-day hopper is $318, so $368 with five days of MP (and don't forget you don't need to buy MP every day if you go with LMT, but with Disney it's all or nothing). That's still a difference of $52. I seriously doubt they'd DOUBLE the price of MP.
