Disney's CARIBBEAN BEACH RESORT Information & Questions

how is the new look, compared to the old?

I have only seen video of the new. But from my perspective compared to my own experience from a few years back, its a huge change for the better IMO. Everything looks beautiful. I love that check-in is now centrally located, and the food court options look great. The bar area is much more inviting. The seating area of the food court looked in the video to be more chopped up rather than open, but that's a minor thing. We haven't been back to CBR since our last stay a few years back, and the new look/layout is making me want to stay there next trip!

Just a curiosity, but with the Riviera construction, are guests still able to walk around Barefoot Bay, or do you have to turn around when you reach the construction site?
You can only walk to the "end" of Aruba and the "end" of Martinique.:)

When DRR opens,I personally will be SHOCKED if there is not some sort of ability to walk between CBR and DRR to allow DRR Guests easy access to Centertown Market and Sebastian's and to allow CBR Guests easy access to the DRR restaurant and the DRR Sky liner Station(especially Aruba Guests).

Time will tell.:)

Thanks for letting me know! I hope so too, going forward. I mean that has always been such a pleasant loop, a nice long walk around the lake.

Can anyone give advice on transportation to/from CBR? I am trying to be as economical as possible without wasting exorbitant amounts of time. I will have one child in a booster seat if it would be better to take the Minnie Vans or Uber/Lyft (have never used these services).

How do we:

Get from CBR to 'Ohana for a mid-morning breakfast? Can we take a bus to the TTC (which I believe is near the Poly?) and then walk over?
Grand Floridian (Park Fare dinner) to CBR?

All other dining will be done in park. And I am actually hoping to swap the Park Fare dinner for BOG (but that doesn't seem terribly likely, unfortunately). TY so much!

One idea would be to take a bus to Magic Kingdom and then take the small boat over to the Polynesian.

Using Disney buses, you would take a bus to the Magic Kingdom and then transfer to either the boat to the Poly and Grand Floridian or the resort monorail. You would use the same transportation to get back to the CBR.

Have you checked the Disney Restaurant boards and looked for the ____(insert month) cancellation thread? Disers often try to coordinate dropping and booking dining reservations. I've had luck several times doing that.

Thank you! I’ve had no luck finding dining yet. Have reservation finder set up and have checked out the cancellation thread. It’s my own fault as I booked dining before having a solid plan and had to give up Akershus and BOG dinners :(

Or,since DHS is so close to CBR,you could take a DHS bus and transfer to a Poly bus at DHS.:)

Personally,I would hop on whichever bus came to my stop at CBR first-either DHS or MK.:)

Here now. Staying offsite, but decided to ride over on the bus from Epcot to see the changes.

It is really nice! When you walk in the front door, the lobby/check-in area is to the left. Calypso Trading Post is to the right, as is Centertown Market. The market was closed when we got here (between lunch and dinner hours), so we decided to see if we could get reservations for Sebastian's Bistro. We were able to get a reservation for 20 minutes later.

The Bistro is in a separate building directly behind OPR. The food was good. We all tried each other's, and the consensus was that the jerk chicken was the best! And I'm not a big rice eater, but their cilantro rice is REALLY good!

After we got on the bus to leave, I realized I didn't take any pictures....sorry. We're coming back in February and staying at CBR...can't wait!

That's the Riviera Resort which is the newest DVC property. Other than being right next door, it has no association with CBR.

Thanks for spelling that out dansdad. It's so easy to assume the Riviera was going to be part of CBR as it's being built on old CBR property and so close. But now, knowing they are totally separate resorts it makes it easier to get my head around pricing, moderate vs deluxe etc.
As I mentioned before I do hope they will still have a sidewalk going around the entire barefoot bay for walking/jogging.

Actually seeing how close Aruba is to the DRR Skyliner Station reinforces my opinion that surely there will be some sort of walking access between CBR and DRR.:)

If they were to make Epcot-going Aruba Guests walk all the way to the CBR Skyliner Station and board a Gondola to ride all the way BACK to the DRR Skyliner Station those would be some very unhappy Islanders!lol:)

CBR was the resort we stayed at for my DD’s first Disney trip. I’m really excited to go back again 13 years later for a surprise trip! Can’t wait to see all the updates.

I’m staying here now. Liking it so far! It’s beautiful! I’m going to try to take pictures tomorrow. Let me know what you want to see! I’ll give a longer review of Sebastian’s and where I stayed (Jamaica) hopefully tomorrow too. This vacation is kicking our butt for some reason! We’ve all been exhausted.

The famous Centertown tent is still looking behind some temporary bushes! I have picture but can’t upload right now.
