Ticket vs. annual pass... seems too good to be true

Question if I buy the 4 day plus 1 free from UT for $307.95 and and Universal values 5 days at $335.45 and then after we are there upgrade to a seasonal pass for $303.52 will Universal refund me $32 dollars? TIA!

There have been reports of them putting a refund on a Universal gift card.

I have been waiting for that deal to reboot also. Just purchased from them on the new Buy 2 days get 2 days free (Park to Park - 2 park). Price was $239 adult and $232 child. Tax was about $21 each. So total $260 adult ticket. Compared to UT at $270 for buy 2 get 1. If you can get access to tickets at work its cheaper.
Just making sure but if I buy the same deal you did from ticketsatwork then I could upgrade to season passes when I get to Universal? Thanks

I currently have a package deal through Costco with 3 day, 2 park to park tickets. They have since come out with the 2 plus 2 free tickets. Having the extra day to see a concert and not be blocked would be nice however when I do the math it seems like the 3 day a better deal when upgrading since I only save $14 per person with 2 day ticket and I think it will cost more to upgrade. With the 3 day I would have no cost to upgrade (I think) but with the 2 day plus 2 would the cost be to upgrade to seasonal be more than $14?

It would likely be valued as a 2 day ticket. Do the math between the cost of a 2 day ticket and the cost of the seasonal pass.

Would your 4th day be the concert day?

Concert would hopefully be 3rd day but it would be nice to exchange ticket next day. I'd buy a regular four day ticket (not 2+2) if I knew for sure I'd get money back. All the different scenarios driving me a little boinkers. I read somewhere else that they upgrade based on gate price and not on line price? Which price do I use when figuring out upgrade cost?

They use gate price.

Any promotional tickets from Universal will only give you value for the base tickets and not the plus day tickets. So 2 + 2 will only give you a 2 day value.

Contact Guest Services to see if they will give you money back.

Thank you for this thread!! We were just looking at a trip down in January and I had considered AP’s if my kids love it as much as I think they will. seems that there’s no reason not to, given the price!

This thread helped me out a lot so here is my experience.
I am in the USA and purchased tickets from Undercover Tourist. I got the 2 park park to park 5 day tickets for the price of 4 days. I got 2 adult and 1 child for $914.85.

These 5 day 2 park tickets at Universal website was $995.76.
After entering the park I went to Guest Services in Universal Studios and upgraded to 2 park seasonal passes (15 months) for us all which cost $974.46. Universal valued my UT tickets at $995.76 so they gave me a Universal gift card refund of $21.30.

So with the refund I spent $893.55 for 2 park seasonal pass for 2 adults and 1 child! Thanks to the Disboard members who helped me figure this all out. I can always upgrade the seasonal passes if we want to goduring a blackout time. This was the absolute best deal I could do in case we come back next year (really want to).

Yes they did give me a GC! My husband was amazed and said he would stop questioning my vacay planning. I also booked 1 night at HRH with AP rate for $268 and we all got Unlimited Express Pass for 2 days.

Ok so I was planning to buy three seasonal APs and one preferred AP from Universal online so that we could get the extra three months ( yes, the preferred would be 6 extra months but we only need the extra 3, the preferred is for free parking and food discounts) .
I didn’t think they would honour the extra three month promo if purchased through Undercover Tourist. If you are saying they did, I am going to watch very closely and see if others report the same. It would be awesome if I could buy from UT and still get the three bonus months upon upgrading.

3 months free,(Not bad, total of 15 months) for new AP Seasonal and Power Pass, but if upgrading from another ticket, say the buy 2 days, get 2 days promotion, you get the extra 3 months ONLY IF you purchased directly from Universal, not from places like Undercover Tourist. I believe for the other two more expensive AP, you get 6 months free for new AP.:yay:

Hmm, that is contrary to this post made yesterday.

That is GREAT! Is there something "specific" though to the buy 2 get 2 days free promotion if purchased from somewhere other than Universal in terms of upgrading to an AP and getting either the 3 months free or 6 months free for the more expensive passes?
I believe I read consistently on these boards that you "COULD" UPGRADE, BUT you wouldn't be given the extra 3 months?

I haven't seen anyone report that they haven't gotten the extra 3 months.

I definitely purchased from UT and got an extra 3 months free. But to be clear my tickets were not Promo tickets. They were get 5 for the cost of 4 which is something UT was doing on their own. I have no clue how promo tickets work but from reading if you get buy 2 days get 2 days free they only credit you for 2 days.

That makes sense. We’ve upgraded UT tickets to annual passes before, and it’s always been the case that if the UT pass is listed as a promo ticket, you aren’t able to get credit for the extra days. Thank you.

Maybe that was what I was "thinking" when I thought that there was something unique about upgrading buy 2 get 2 free from UT,:scratchin so in this example, when upgrading to AP from a ticket purchase from UT, Universal would give you credit only for the cost of a 2 day ticket, not for the cost of their buy 2, get 2 days free ticket promo? Geez, so many nuisances, gets very detailed!o_O

Yes, you'll only get the value of 2 days in the promo buy 2 get 2 from UT or Tickets at Work, but it would be the same if you purchased that promo from Universal. From what we can tell so far, from reports, is that everyone is getting the extra months upon upgrading.

So if it’s working like I think it is I can still buy a regular 5 day, 3 park to park ticket from Undercover Tourist and upgrade it. The value they would give me upgrading to an AP would be gate price of a 5 day 3 park to park ticket (which would save me over $100 on three tickets ). And finally I should still be able to get the 3 months free on those 3 seasonal AP’s. Im not going until March , but I do want to purchase my kids their tickets to wrap up for Christmas.
So I have until December to watch what people are reporting just in case in varies depending on who does the upgrade or the policy changes.
