DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Nice work on the DIS Meets, Doc!:thumbsup2

Been a might distracted as of late. Unfortunately, my MIL passed late last week. Not completely unexpected, but thins happened rather rapidly so we're still fairly off balance down this way.

I'm sorry to hear that, Rob. Prayers for you all and especially Tamara. Is she holding up?

The track should keep the center of this one about sixty miles southeast of us and it should be down to a depression when it gets into SC. We'll likely have only see about 12-16 hours of fairly heavy rain with slight chances of flooding. Will have to watch for the stronger wind gusts to see how those effect the older trees but I expect even that to be more of a spotty issue.
.

We're expecting heavy rain on Thursday up here. I'm sure the last thing NC needs is more rain.

Sorry to hear this Rob. Expected or not, it's never easy, especially when it happens quickly.
I hope the weather doesn't affect you too much.

Sorry to hear that Rob. I hope the weather doesn't add to your woes.
Thanks guys; much appreciated.

My Girl is doing pretty good.
Little things will catch her but she's stronger then she lets on (or admits)
Always has been.

I worry a smidgen more form her sister, though...
Who on earth will she bicker and argue with now?

Their Ma, was 86 and had a raft of hard earned issues, but she was also a tough ol' bird so it was a bit of a shock when things started collapsing rather suddenly and all at the same time. If there's an up side, it is that she was never alone, didn't have to be put in a home, was not too much of a burden on anyone and was aware and in complete charge of the decisions. All things that she feared were would be out of her control. We should all be so blessed.

No they don't, that is certain.

The current track is very much in their favor though (and mine for that matter). The strong side of the storm should stay in SC and a bit south of us although Wilmington may catch a little bit of that side. The thing should also be moving quickly and be greatly weakened by the time it gets here and that's a good thing.

As of now, it's the folks in the Fla panhandle from around Deston east toward Apalachicola that will see the worst of this one. We'll have to watch for flooding along the lower parts of the Chattahoochee and Apalachicola river basins though.

Just had a look at this live view, Okaloosa Island cam. Seas are rolling pretty good already.

Good to see that most of y'all are doing well, and it'll be good to keep up again.

Happy Tuesday.

Morning Guys.

Not sure if anyone is in Michael's path but if you are stay safe.

Here is us at Amelia Island. My hair doesn't seem to blow like DW's. :lmao:

I don't think this is from Hurricane, but maybe so. The projections have it way west of here and blowing over north. I hope it just stops where it is.

Morning all. Waiting for the results this AM and then it is onto the beach. Not sure it is a good idea or not. We are going to the Amelia Island area on the Atlantic side, which as of today, is not in the path of the hurricane. No evacuations or state of emergency called for there.

Last time, I canceled the Vero Beach trip when there was a state of emergency and evacuations, but it missed that area and there was a perfect week of good weather.

Sounds like a good future plan, although future negotiation for the rhinestone thong may occur. Thanks again for the meet-up.
Hope the beach trip works out for you guys and the weather does not have any impact

Sorry to hear and thoughts are with you and yours. May the weather go easy on your neck of the woods - stay safe

Morning from a wet Fredericton. The weather is mild but should be cooling off throughout the day.

Sorry for the neglect last night on the Rum Ramblings Randall, it was the pressure that got to me.

Have a great humpday all!

Not a problem Darcy. My Bite Me comment was to whomever said Jodi's hugs are better than mine.

From the predictions, it looks like the hurricane will blow over and be out of the area before we leave. It does stink since the beach is closed here because of the wind/ choppy waves. But, it's sunny and we went for a walk on the beach this AM. This is my first time in this area, and it seems to be a really nice area. I'm looking for a small Florida coast town to retire in about 5 years.

Watching weather channel, Jim Cantore seems upset that the hurricane will miss him and go east of where he is. :sad2:

'Morning all...
Wet soggy day here with a whole lot more rain on the way.
Will have to watch out for downed trees now that the ground is so saturated and higher winds are on the way.
The locals are starting to panic - which is normal - But I'm not that concerned.

Now the folks down in the Fla panhandle and southwest GA, they need to be taking cover.

The only problems remaining will be straightening out the estate and getting through probate.

Glad y'all went over there anyway.
Too bad the beaches are closed, but I get that they're being cautious.
You really shouldn't see too much serious effect from the storm if it stays on track.

Given his track record, if I lived wherever they sent him, I'd be worried about the thing making a hard left just to go after Jim.

Might take a look at the Port Charlotte area.
Unusually "affordable" for Fla.
(until everyone else figures that out, at least)

But then again, there's certainly nothing wrong with the Nassau county area
It's on my consideration list.

I'll have to check this out. I did watch a couple shows before, never thought about it this week. Good to know that both of you were on it.

I'll give it a look. I'm good anywhere in Florida, as the hot weather doesn't bother me. DW said she breathes a lot better when in Florida (heat, humidity) which is why I'd like to move sooner than later. The Atlantic side is back on as long as I can find a beach with a shelf. And, Florida still les me get cheap WDW passes.

If anyone is interested, let me know or private message me. I'd be willing to look at one of those $1 million beach houses and divide it in 1/4s. Not 4 times a year, but into 4 condos. At least the owners' association would be the disdads I already know.
