Tokyo DL Hotel Room Choices

Hello,

I am in the early stages of planning a trip to Tokyo Disneyland sometime the week after Thanksgiving/first week of December for my husband, my Dad and me. We're purposefully going during the Christmas season because it's a bucket list item for my Dad. I'm planning on doing a split stay between Mira Costa (not a Porto Paradiso room because of cost and I can't book it the day reservations open) and the Tokyo Disneyland Hotel.

For MiraCosta, I had planned on booking a Captain Mickey room based on the fun decor. But the Venice Superior Room says that it could overlook the canal area in TDS.

For DL Hotel I was initially planning on booking a character room, but then I realized the park view rooms are actually a little cheaper.

So my question is, which is more worth it? Potential views or known character theming? Also, I am only 5' tall so I was planning on just getting a room with Twins + Trundle, with me on the trundle. Am I going to regret that, and should we splurge on a Triple Room? Going to a Triple really limits the room choices.

Thanks!

IMO the trundle bed is intended for a child. I'm sure adults sleep on them but it's not how I would like to spend my vacation. You might consider splitting the difference & booking a triple room at one hotel or the other - then, at least, you would only be sleeping on it for a few days.

As far as which is more "worth it" - I think the only person who can answer that is you :) These are very nice hotels & you can't really go wrong with either choice. Personally, I would choose a great view over room decor any day, but if you've seen photos of the character rooms & they really appeal to you, well, there you go!

We stayed in a Venice room at MiraCosta in January this year and had a lovely view of the gondola and Tower of Terror! Could also see the monorail from our room. I haven't stayed at DL Hotel, but I would definitely recommend the Venice room. :) We had such a great time that we're going again in September!

How much did that cost per night? If you don’t mind me asking.

It was 49,400 yen per night in January, which was around $450/night before tax. We had booked a twin room. That was considered "low" season I believe...

That actually doesn’t seem too bad for the miracosta. I don’t think I can convince dh to stay there but it sounds pretty cool!

Update from me. As it turned out, I didn't have to make a decision. We finally got all the airline miles in the right place this afternoon. By that time, room availability for 3 adults was pretty slim. And we had to maneuver around the fact that the only TDR Hotel still available on Saturday was the Tokyo Celebration Hotel. But we got everything booked. For the single nights, the CC wasn't a problem but we had to call Chase and get transferred to the Verify by Visa representative to do the 5 night one, and we had to put it on a different card.

Arrival Night Sat 12/1 - Tokyo Celebration Hotel Wish Triple Room
12/2 - 1 night reservation MiraCosta Captain Mickey Triple
12/3-12/7 - 5 night reservation MiraCosta Captain Mickey Triple
12/8 - Fly Home

Since we were staying more than 5 nights and that we'd have to do multiple reservations anyway I was going to split it between Captain Mickey and the Venice Superior but there wasn't availability for more than 1 night in a row on the Venice side. So we will be content with what we have. After all, we are spending the first week of December at the MiraCosta with the parks all decked out for Christmas.

I know people tend to hate on the Celebration hotel but I thought it was pretty nice. The Disney art in the lobby and rooms was nice and the bus service was probably better than what you get at WDW (they ran on a pretty accurate schedule) since it never seemed as packed as some WDW buses can get. It was certainly equivalent the moderate level for me and even though I thought $340.71/night was a bit expensive it was a quad occupancy and a Friday and Saturday in July.

I think taking the bus from the hotel to the parks isn't really that big of a deal. I've stayed at POP many times and I think it takes 15-20 minutes to get to the Magic Kingdom.

How early can you book? (I've read differing opinions)
Does anyone know if a US based travel agent can book TD for someone?

5 months before for room only reservation and 6 months before for the packages.

Check with your travel agent as I know many here in Quebec can't book Tokyo Disney hotels.

My family and I stayed at the Celebration Hotel- Wish in July 2018. We loved the hotel theme! I agree the Celebration Hotel bus drive to the Park was not that bad.

October 2012, we stayed at the Animal Kingdom- Kidani. I felt the walking distance from our hotel room to the Hotel bus stop and then the bus ride from Animal Kingdom- Kidani to the WDW Park was LONGER.

I love the charater rooms in DLH. I think that is what makes me want to come back to DLH again. I stayed at the Tinkerbell Rooms and the attention to details is just mindblowing. Even places where it is hidden by the bed is still themed when I tried to push the bed to the wall so that my DD won't fall off.

For Miracosta - I stayed at the Harborview Room, while the view is definitely nice. The room is not amazing. If I choose to stay at the hotel again I would stay at Captain Mickey's room. Well it all depends what do you want eventually. I think if you would be in the room for a long time, the view is going to be important. If it's just all day in the park and you have children with you, I would recommend Captain Mickey.

I'm a little confused about the bed configuration at Miracosta. The twin room states it can sleep 2-3; bed configuration twin and trundle. Is it a true twin bed? I am looking to book for DH and myself and the booking window opens next week.
FWIW, I have been following along closely and the rooms absolutely do sell out for the weekends almost immediately after opening.(both for packages and hotel only). Three days after the 5 month mark - availability for only Friday night or "special" rooms $$$$$.

The twin beds at Miracosta are slightly wider than a traditional twin bed in the US - but not big enough to comfortably fit 2 adults in one bed. They do offer a double bed option, but I wasn't sure what a "double" really means...so I was hesitant to book it. The twin bed room worked great for the two of us.

We were in a “double bed” room at both DLH and Miracosta and they are essentially a US king size bed.

The twin rooms available said 1 twin 1 trundle did your room have 2 twins and a trundle?

I just spent three nights at the Disney Celebration Hotel Discover and we were four adults in a standard room. We had two Twin beds and two daybeds and me and my girlfriend slept on the daybeds. They were quite comfortable, although if you're the kind of person who need 3 pillows to sleep, only one is provided by bed. In China, they did not provide any extra at our hotel, so my sister hit a local discount store and bought one! We did not try to request any extra in Japan, so I don't know if they would have provided an extra one.
