Magic July 14 - 21, 2019

We are a family of four, my daughter will be 16 and my son 14, and we have been on a number of DCL cruises. Right now we are booked B2B on this cruise and the Dover to Copenhagen one that follows though I seriously doubt we'll end up on both. Decisions, decisions...

welcome!
either you just posted on FB, or someone doing the same thing did :)
how long is the Dover to Copenhagen cruise and what ports does it visit?
for me, it was hard to choose between the cruise before this one and this one, but came to the conclusion this one works the best for us..

seems like there are a lot of families on this cruise with teens....i guess it makes sense that a european cruise would have a lot of teens on board...

We are trying to decide between the same 2 cruises, I understand the struggle! My kids have said they prefer this one and since it's a gift for their high school graduation, unless they change their minds, I think we will be on this one. I offered the B2B and they decided that was too long to be on the ship. I don't understand "too long to be on a ship", but ok.... Both cruises look fabulous to me!

11 nights of (mostly) Scandinavian fun. It visits Gothenburg instead of Oslo but is otherwise the cruise we took three years ago in reverse. But the fact that they will be much older (along with the absence of the grandparents) will undoubtedly make much of it seem 'new' to them.

sounds like a really nice cruise!!
the one i really really want to do is go back to alaska....
only half of the family went last time (son and family didn't join in) so i'd really like for all 9 of us to do alaska like the 4 of us did it last time..
a week (or even two this time) in mainland alaska (fairbanks, denali, seward, etc) and then a southbound cruise on royal caribbean..
i prefer disney, but they only do the round trip out of vancouver, no one way cruises....
but in any case, i think alaska has to wait for the grandchildren to be a few years older...
maybe by that time disney will add one way alaska cruises to their itinerary...

Welcome! I have not checked in in a while. Happy to see more cruisers. Oh how fun if you can do back to back. We do not believe there are too many days on a Disney cruise! :) We have been lucky enough to do some of the longer cruises and were still sad when we had to depart after 14 days. Looking forward to retirement down the line! We did the Iceland cruise the first year they offered it and of course loved it. Good luck with your decision making.

Welcome! I am with you about not understanding how there could ever be too long on a ship! So since you said kids and graduation, do you have twins, or are they graduating the same year from different schools?

i'm pretty sure he's the guy on facebook who said they won't be on our cruise, but just the one after ours..

Sadly, we just cancelled the Barcelona to Dover half of our potential B2B cruise a day or two ago. I hope you enjoy your cruise!

Yes, they are twins. They are still only wanting to go on this cruise with some days before and after to explore Barcelona and London before dropping them off at college (hopefully!).

So...anyone else stocking airline miles flights? We have been, and our date and flight we wanted showed up this morning. We are flying to Madrid! I know our ship leaves out of Barcelona, but we have not been having much luck with flights from Portland to Barcelona and we were getting really creative to find some thing to save the $$$ for the fun parts. We finally checked Madrid and found lots moe options! We will spend a couple of days there and then take the train to Barcelona for 3 plus days before boarding the Magic. Happy cruise planning!

i guess i'd better check the flights.
we'll fly into barcelona and out of paris...
so a morning flight into barcelona and late night flight out of paris.

My family is joining the fun!
There's five of us; mom, dad, DS (19), DS (16) and DD (9).
It will be our sixth Disney cruise; our second European cruise.

Last summer we did the close loop in Barcelona. We are looking forward to our next adventure!

Welcome! Our first cruise was a 10 night out of Barcelona. We are so excited to go back! Our DS will be turning 16 the day before the cruise and our DD will be 9. Did your boys enjoy the teen club? On our last cruise our DS was still in the Edge. Happy planning!

Are there any other super planners out there? As I already posted we have our airline tickets - thank goodness for frequent flyer miles. We have hotel reservations in Dallas (our city stop on the way), hotel in Madrid with restaurants picked out during our stay, an apartment in London reserved along with reservations for the ceremony of the keys and tickets for another very special surprise that will be our DS's 16th birthday present, and an apartment in Paris for nine days with day trips planned for Versailles (both day and night), Disneyland Paris and Giverny...whew! This is going to be one fun trip! We are all disappointed that that we do not have more time on the Magic, so we are adding lots of good stuff before and after. :)

You could just look at the itinerary and do everything for half the price, but the guides were fantastic. I still see them regularly and they are so friendly and helpful. I loved the dinners, flamenco, the bus rides, the camaraderie. ABD is fantastic if u can afford it.
