Don't Pet the Sweaty Things. An Aug Solo Birthday Trip. Updated 12/4!!

Love ALL the shirts you picked up! Great choices and you've given me some things to look forward to purchasing on my upcoming trip!

I'm debating on whether to stay at an All Star hotel for our trip next year just to try something different. I'm glad you took this walk because I really thought that Mighty Ducks building was at All Star Sports LOL Jimmy would have been really mad if I told him it was where we were staying and had it completely wrong. Oops :) He has become hockey obsessed over the last two years and we just finally signed him up for Beginner Blackhawks (it's run at the new Chicago Blackhawks training facility). After one class, they leveled him up to Minor Hawks, so he is ecstatic today!!

Love your little Stitch pin!

I have never stayed at an all stars so thanks for all the pictures of the movie one! I love all the wonderful Disney movie scenes, very cool!

Are they remodeling to look like Pop room? That will be nice!

Love all your pics of ASM. We stayed there once, but prefer POP for the food court and bus situation. It looks really cute, though :goodvibes

I walked back through the Dalmatian area and then turned right to head into Fantasia. In this section, the two buildings are different from each other and there is also the main pool.
I walked over to this area during our last morning at All-Star Music. It looked really nice. I especially liked the TV with the Dalmatian in front of it - one of the scenes I remember from the movie. We only walked through Dalmatians and to the main building with the food court and gift shop. My family liked the look of the Fantasia pool, much better design than the other two All-Stars, I think. I wish we had the energy to walk up to the Herbie section. I loved those movies growing up.

I also snapped a picture of these food key chains because I was thinking about getting one but I never did.
I really liked them and was tempted, but wow they are big. I really didn't think they would be very practical.

Love Love LOVE the Mr. Toad tee and your Mickey Balloon tee! Great finds!

Holy smokes, that super sized Jack-in-the-Box is terrifying! I've never seen this area of the Fantasia section before at the Movies Resort. My son would have totally freaked out if he ever saw that thing in real-life! He has a real fear of wooden marionettes -- especially that "dummy" from Goosebumps. Can't say I blame him...it's so creepy... haha! :-D

Love your solo trip report! I'm leaving for a quick solo trip next Friday and I can't wait!!!

Great pics around the resort! That's the only All Stars I haven't stayed at yet, though I did explore some of it once.

So much cute Halloween merchandise!

Thanks! I was pretty impressed with the whole resort. I've now stayed at all three All Stars and while I still think Music is my favorite, Movies is a close second.

Love ALL the shirts you picked up! Great choices and you've given me some things to look forward to purchasing on my upcoming trip!

Thanks! I always love shopping at WDW.

Jim was disappointed that there was no hockey section when we stayed at All Star Sports a few years ago. Jim plays in two leagues and loves hockey. He's even going down to Tampa a few days early next month so he can see his Red Wings play the Lightning. We also have a six game package for the Gwinnett Gladiators this winter. They are a minor league team but I can't remember right now which division that are in.

Congrats to Jimmy for doing so well!

You are welcome! The remodel rooms will be exactly like the new POP rooms. They started with Movies and then they will be moving to Music and then Sports.

I'm here! And as usual these days, very late!

Hi Tracy! Thanks for stopping in.

Love all your pics of ASM. We stayed there once, but prefer POP for the food court and bus situation. It looks really cute, though :goodvibes

I do agree that the POP food court is a bit better although I don't mind the All Star ones because they always seem less crowded than POP. As for the buses, I've never had an issue at the All Stars. To date I've stayed at Music 3 times, Movies 2 times and Sports 1 time. The do share buses but only during the slower afternoon times. I've never had a shared bus in the mornings and only once or twice at night.

I walked over to this area during our last morning at All-Star Music. It looked really nice. I especially liked the TV with the Dalmatian in front of it - one of the scenes I remember from the movie. I really liked them and was tempted, but wow they are big. I really didn't think they would be very practical.

The Herbie section was very cute and not a long walk from the front. I've only stayed in a preferred room at Movies because I was worried about the walk but in the future I don't think I will mind.

I think that's why I didn't get one of the key chains. I really didn't have a use for it so ended up walking away.

Yeah, I wasn't excited about the big Jack-in-the-Box. I'm not sure what Disney was thinking with that thing!

The Slinky Dog Dash… Dash

On Friday, August 10th, I was up and out the door around 6 am. I was heading to morning EMH at Hollywood Studios and wanted to catch the first bus of the day. Once again I hadn’t slept that well the night before because there was a lot of noise from the walkway outside of my room. I really should have gone to the front desk to see if I could be moved but I was all settled in my room and didn’t feel like moving since I was only there for a few days.

6 am was a bit too early to get to the bus stop as the first one didn’t come until 6:24 am. I did check My Disney Experience from my room but it was still saying “bus every 20 minutes” so I headed out so I didn’t miss the first bus. I was all by my lonesome for a while.

I was joined be a few other people before the bus came but when I tried to strike up a conversation I discovered that they didn’t speak English.

I have precise times for this day because I was keeping track so I could post my experience on the Toy Story Land thread here on the DIS. We got to HS at 6:36 am and were dropped off at the old bus loop. I thought we would be at the new bus loop that was further away because it opened right before my trip but I wasn’t going to complain about being dropped off closer to the front! I took this next picture as I walked quickly to the bag check at 6:38 am.

There was only one or two people in front of me for bag check and I was through quickly. They were already letting people into the park so I entered and then ran into this on Hollywood Blvd.

I don’t think we stood there for more than a few minutes before they made the announcement that Toy Story Land would open early and started leading us back to the land. It was pretty chaotic at first with people trying to find short cuts to get to the front of the pack.

Once we rounded the corner to Toy Story Land, I started filming the crowd walking in.

As you can see by this next photo, I entered the Slinky Dog line at 6:51 am

A few more pictures from the line.

I waited about 15 minutes total before getting on the ride. Here’s my horrible ride photo. Not sure why my eyes are closed.

And a picture of Wheezy at the end of the ride.

I absolutely loved Slinky Dog! It was just thrilling and long enough to satisfy me and the double launch added a unique aspect to the ride. I’m getting to the age where RnRC and Space Mountain hurt and give me headaches so Slinky is a great alternative to those more intense coasters.

Once I finished up on Slinky, I headed next door and walked straight onto Alien Saucer Swirl.

I only had to wait through one ride to get on the next one and I ended up videoing as I rode. Please ignore my insane laughter in the background, the ride was just a whole lot of fun!

I knew exactly what to expect from AS2 since I had ridden the Mater ride out at Disneyland. They are identical except for the theme. I think this is a fun ride and as long as the line is not huge, I would ride it. I had no issues with motion sickness on this one because it’s more of a whipping motion rather than spinning.

Next, I looked around a bit and then headed to TSM which was also a walk on. I took some photos in line but most of them turned out blurry since I was walking and taking them at the same time.

There was a Mom in line behind me with two smaller children and she asked me to ride with her daughter which I had no problem doing. I got a pretty decent score and so did the little girl for her first time ever on the ride. I did warn her ahead of time that I was really good at the game and afterwards told her how good she did. I didn’t want her to be upset that I beat her but I wasn’t going to ease up on my game either.

I was happy to see the plastic monkeys in the exit.

I stopped and took a couple of horrible selfies at the Checker Wall and the Popsicle Stick Wall. They are both in the exit out of TSM.

Next up, I wanted to meet Jesse and Woody before it got too hot so I got in line. This was the longest wait of the morning, I was in line for about 20 minutes and I was already hot and sweaty. I don’t think the thicker cotton shirt was the best choice that day but I had to wear my Slinky Dog gear!

I took these pictures while I was waiting.

I also took a short video of Slinky Dog coming around the first curve. It looks really slow in the video but it felt much faster than that when riding.

And my picture with Woody and Jesse. They both loved my Slinky Dog shirt and purse.

After that I decided to get back in line one more time for TSM and waited about 10 minutes this time. It was also the first time I got to experience the third track.

I ended up getting my highest score ever. I was so bummed that I didn’t break 200,000 but my arm gave out towards the end of the last game. Someday I will get that 200,000 score!

A few more pictures from the exit line.

By the time I got off of TSM the second time, EMH was over and the crowds were pouring into TSL. I was going to get something at Woody’s Lunch Box for breakfast but it was already super hot and crowded so I headed out instead. I did stop and wait in a short line to have my picture taken with the TSL sign before heading off to other areas of the park.

Looks like a fun, EMH morning!

There was only one or two people in front of me for bag check and I was through quickly. They were already letting people into the park so I entered and then ran into this on Hollywood Blvd.

Yikes! This makes me happy that I booked EMM for October!

I’m getting to the age where RnRC and Space Mountain hurt and give me headaches

Same! I've actually gotten raised on SM!

I absolutely loved Slinky Dog!

I can't wait!

Sounds like such a successful morning in TSL!! Looks like the exit of TSMM has a lot of good photo ops! Definitely need a pic in front of the popsicle wall. Great pic with Woody & Jessie!

What a great morning!!! Looks like being up early had it's benefits for sure! I can't wait to experience Toy Story land. Maybe I can even convince Jimmy to ride Slinky Dog. Though he always says I led him astray when I told him he would like 7DMT....which he hated...so he no longer trusts me LOL

Great use of your EMH time. Way better than ours as you will see coming up soon, womp womp!

My TSM score is always around 130,000. I can’t break that for some reason.

I really liked AS2 as well very cute and the music is so fun!

Love your Slinky purse, wow you have many different designs very cool!

Looks like an awesome time in Toy Story Land! Thanks again for posting your experience in the TSL thread. I will finally get to check it out in November.

I’m impressed with how much you did during EMH.
When we were there, I think we arrived at the turnstiles when EMH started and had a wait for slinky dog. By the time we finished slinky dog, EMH were over.

Success! Wow, you got a lot accomplished during that EMH!
It looks so so sunny in TSL; I hope they incorporate some shading soon. The over-sized leaves from the now closed Bugs Land in California would be ideal :)

Wow those EMH crowds are no joke for TSL! Good to know that you can still have a short wait even with all of those people.

Following along...

Your arrival day, we were in the MK in the evening and around 6-7pm we were in line for The jungle cruise when we could see the clouds and then they closed a lot of the rides so we sat nearby between Adventureland and Frontierland and I looked on the app and saw splash and big thunder had 10 min waits yet it was still raining/mist so we went and walked in both. It was great!

Your Thursday rain storm we had to leave the Poly pool area til it passed.
