I love credit cards so much!

I'm seeing a pattern of people seeing their "pending bonus" show up the day after their statement closes (2nd stmt maybe) since meeting the MSR.

https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/9fr23p/daily_discussion_thread_september_14_2018/e5z0hqh/

I've seen a couple other DPs like this as well. Has anybody here who was waiting on a pending bonus seen 2 Statements close since meeting the MSR without seeing the bonus go pending??

I’ll let you know after the 19th...when our 2nd statement closes..as of now they aren’t pending

I was an "approved in error" victim by BofA. It was the most terrible experience I've ever had with an issuer. I tried a CFPB (the only time I've ever tried that)...I cancelled all of my cards with them over it. If I ever go back to BofA for a card my they will not get a penny beyond the MSR out of me.

Sorry...my anger is coming back, LOL! I really am happy guys...don't worry, :)

I have my main checking account with BoA. I really don't like them and would love to have someone like Chase or Capital One with a convenient location. Unfortunately, I need to be able to take out a sizable amount of cash every month (yes, you can shun me), so BoA is my best option.

Never heard of the BoA issues! But given how much they've clamped down recently, I guess it doesn't surprise me. I'm ok with them because we use Amtrak points and they allow multiples, but they are ridiculous with other stuff.

So they had this pattern where they instituted a 5/24-like rule but their computers didn't catch it so they would approve you then send you a letter 10 days later saying you were denied.

I put in a CFPB inquiry after I was "approved in error" and in the letter I got in response here was the wording:
During the application process on May 2, 2017 it was not identified that you had recently been approved for five credit card accounts within the last 24 months. This was identified on May 3, 2017 and as a result the credit card account ending in XXXX was closed as it is the policy of Bank of America.
I had opened exactly 5 BofA cards in the past 24 months (and was 29/24 in total). In an earlier conversation with a recon analyst it seemed like they were hinting at a 4 card limit too.

Here's my discussion here over when I kicked BofA to the curb...made me feel really good to shed their cards from the drawer!

I kicked BofA to the curb today. They previously denied me for the Merrill Lynch card (I actually was "approved in error" and they rescinded their approval 10 days later...grrr). They also denied my recently for their new Premium Travel card. Both times they cited that I had a sufficient relationship with the bank already and wouldn't budge. Sooo now I have no relationship with their bank, LOL! I closed my checking and all 5 open cards my wife and I had.

I have been a little upset for awhile about it but I finally decided to pull the plug today because I also want to clean up our credit reports a little bit. Less open accounts, less high credit limits, and hopefully less risk of a Chase shutdown.

YEP :D I really should have done it the first time. That approved in error was a load of crap. They implemented their own version of a 5/24 rule but their computer couldn't handle it so they approved people for cards. Then sent letters 10 days later rescinding the approval. I put in a CFPB complaint but that went nowhere except wasting a bunch of times on phone calls with some girl trying to "resolve my feelings". Well resolve this...I don't have accounts anymore.

DW got addicted to those pins on our most recent visit (this past February) and those things... On a scale from one to even, I can't.

Another pin fan here... I mainly buy lots of pins on Amazon and enjoy trading them to try to get certain themes, but we also have to buy a pin for wherever we stay and a "year" pin. We picked up a Coco pin on our last trip too.

I totally understand. After paying off their card, granted it was a high balance, several years ago they dropped my CL to 500. I wasn't happy but did keep the card for a few more years because it was my 2nd oldest. I did however quickly close my bank account with them and move it to SunTrust.

I hate that AS is in bed with them and I have to use them if I want to earn miles with AS more easily. The new biz card finally hit my online account and I can't believe that on $7800 yearly income they gave me a CL of 10k. I will be closing the AS personal within the next month because the AF will hit in a couple of weeks. I will potentially keep the biz card and use it for gas or something because the AF is only $50 vs the personal that's $75. If they keep their checked bags at 25 that's two right there and I'll use it at least once which brings it down to a $25 AF. Just wish they did more to try and get you to use the card like Amex and Chase with the deals and stuff.

That's totally ridiculous. I remember when their 2/3/4 rule started last year, but I hadn't heard of them kicking out previously-approved applications. That's nuts.

I had the ML card a couple years back.

I have never been more angry/forceful on a recon call than when that scenario happened. I was very upset!

I only have one BoA card - Premium Rewards - and there's a tab for Special Offers that has 10-20 different cash back offers. DH has the no fee Travel Rewards card and has Special Offers on his card too (and his offers are better than mine that has the $95 fee). Do the AS cards not have that? Since we only have the ones that do, I can't see for myself. I was hoping to get one in the future if the sign up bonus goes up.

I'm not a fan of BoA either tbh, but since we get 2.625%+ on everything spent on these cards they are my backup cards for non-MSR non-bonus category spending. ETA: which is very little since I'm often buying VGC or MCGC with CIC or BCP or meeting MSR.

Only when one has an MSR to meet can one get excited about receiving his/her annual homeowner's insurance bill (and doubly excited that the insurance company takes Amex with no fee for credit card usage), lol. That is all.

Lol! I paid mine also and got a check back from my insurance carrier as my bank also paid it. I needed the MSR credit and this sure helped! Now I'm ready to pay my electric bill all the way into next year to finish my amex spg lux msr as once I get an msr I want to get it done.

Okay frontier is taunting us...$39 flights one way to Orlando?! How could we not take that? I think it’s safe to say we will most likely be going back to wdw in December. I’m seriously kicking myself for not getting APs this year but we thought we would be going once this year and now we are up to four...

BoA has BankAmeriDeals with a bonus program, but it's not on the same level as AmEx or even Chase. In usual fashion it's not easy to find all details, like if Business cards are eligible, but they make it sound like they may be. However, I don't get a lot of great options pop up, it's highly targeted or regionalized. I got a 10% back at Staples once and another at Lowe's, but otherwise it's mostly restaurants, car parts, Comcast/Xfinity and Starbucks in the offers. The coin thing is new, as an incentive to use more offers, but I can't manage to find 4 offers I'd want to use to even get the base bonus. And even still it's only a few dollars here and there, so it's usually only worth it if you were going there anyway use the BoA card instead of, well, anyone else's. I think it's got potential and may get better but not very practical at the moment (which is good, cuz I really don't need any more cards from them, I have one too many already :p.)

Interesting, didn't think they could be card based... or down to an individual spend profile. Could be I have a sucky cards, so I get sucky offers  I've got 2 co-brands and I don't even use one of them.

We collected pins when my kids were younger...they are now 27 and 30...and no longer interested.....eBay is another place to look.....since I’ve bought pins there over the years it’s now where I’m selling them

I just started collecting pins this year and I love it! We buy the mixed bags on amazon and have had good luck with them. I just like the actual act of trading with cms. They are so friendly and I have gotten some cool pins.

Well that was quick but we went ahead and booked a preferred room at ASmovies for December 1-5. Didn’t buy plane tickets yet but figured might as well get the room since there isn’t a lot of availability left. Our plan is to do 2 MVMCP and DAH. I also want to squeeze in surfing lessons at typhoon lagoon but idk if they do them in December.

Yeah, DH had a 10% off Marriott offer a couple months back but not me. And now I have a 10% off Hilton offer, but he doesn't. I don't know why.

I am clearly shirking the duties I need to be attending to before the surgery.....

I started reading around Page 500. Obviously a much easier task for me to read everything, as opposed to a newbie today.

Clearly we have evolved into a bunch of windbags! :chat: ::yes::

Nope, he hasn't a clue. Probably never will unless I decide I like MRs over URs. I will just hit the MSR myself and add it to the pile of other cards he doesn't know about in the desk drawer. :joker:

My girls happened to see my stash of cards in my desk and they told me that I had a problem! I have pretty much have all the cards we have applied for over the years.
