Planning an anniversary dinner and am wondering how Monsieur Paul stacks up against V&A.
I've been to V&A before, and yes, I was wowed. But in the interest of trying something new, I kind of want to try MP. I just don't want it to be a let down.
Any opinions?

Probably no comparison. Although I've never eaten at either I've read enough reviews of both to think V&A is orders of magnitude better. Not that MP is bad though. Have you considered California Grill?

I have eaten at both and there is just no comparison. My recommendation would be California Grill way over MP. That's where I will be celebrating our anniversary in October.

They aren't really "in the same league", as others have said, but that's not a bad thing. I like fine dining as much as (probably more) than the next guy, but V&A was over the top for me. I'm glad I went once, but am unlikely to ever go again.

That being said, MP compares well to any of the other signature resorts on property. Technically, the dress code is the same as the other signatures, but since it is in a park, you are likely to see more variability. The menu is a bit limited compared to the other signatures, but the food is generally very good. If you have never been there, it is well worth a visit. (I'll be there myself in a few weeks.)

Totally different experiences between V&A and everything else.
We have eaten at V&A several times, MP twice and California Grill almost every trip.
V&A is the most formal. Amazing food and service. No other restaurant at WDW comes close. We go every few trips.
MP really enjoy the food and good service. Being in the park, doesn't have the same feel as a high end restaurant due to not enforcing the dress code.
California Grill love the food, atmosphere, great service.
If you don't do V&A, it would be a toss up between the other 2, but would probably pick CG due to the views.

V&A is a world class restaurant unparalleled by any other disney restaurant. It's in a class of its own. It is also extremely expensive.

MP is the best of the other signature restaurants on property for food quality and service. California grill may be better as an overall experience because of the view/atmosphere. But MP has superior food quality.

I enjoyed my food at MP, it was much quieter and romantic than the restaurant down stairs. I wouldn't say it's in the same class as V&A though, I don't think anyone is. Unlike most people commenting I hated California Grill for dinner, been twice and both were awful and I'll never go back. Brunch there is great though.

I agree with others there is no comparison. I would go to CG over MP, we have eaten at both and weren't wowed by MP. We had to wait for about 1/2 after our ADR, which happens everywhere so can't ding them for that. We felt the food was good but our service sucked. The table next to us had a family with two smaller kids, it was late at night, I think the ADR was around 9 and the kids were just done. Wallowing on the bench part of the the seat and kicking me and the server seemed to want to do anything to please them, thus was checking on them every few minutes and explaining things to them. For us, we actually had to flag down another server to get water glasses refilled and to get our check at the end of the meal. Our server would come check on the table next to us and even left our dirty dishes on the table in between courses. We were having appetizers, entres, drinks and dessert so it wasn't cheap and we felt for the price, the level of service should have been better. It was also pretty loud since we were there right around Illuminations time. We were also at CG during the FWs, got there right when it started, it was loud as well but the staff are aware of it and work around it. It got really loud after the FWs with all the people coming in that had been out on the balcony but that settled down in about 5 min. and it was pleasant after that. We had excellent service and the food was very good. The price was maybe a tad more than MP but we felt the meal and service were 100% better. No complaints at all about V&As except it was way too much food for us but the staff were excellent and the food was fantastic. For two people it was about $700 since we both had wine flights so it's not something we would do every trip but worth it.

If you are comparing MP In any way with V& A I believe you will be disappointed. No comparison between the 2

Exactly what the consensus states.

V&A is what you previously experienced. Monsieur Paul is ‘above’ average park food. (That is measurably cheaper than V&A)

There is absolutely no comparison. We've dined at MP several times since it opened and were always happy with our experience and meals. We just went again in August and it was really disappointing. They've changed many of the items on the menu and not for the better. I had a seafood dish and it tasted like they had pre-cooked the scallops. It was definitely the worst signature meal of our trip. We did have a nice window view of the fireworks, though!

If you want a signature meal with a special atmosphere, I would give Cali Grill a try. The food isn't great, IMHO, but the view is stunning. The best meal of our August trip was Flying Fish. The restaurant is beautiful, the food was exquisite and our server was excellent.

Any opinions?
Yes - as in opinion. Don't go there.

V&A is a VERY serious, REAL, 5 star Restaurant. If necessary to downgrade? I would suggest...

1) Shula's Steak - Dolphin.
2) Bull & Bear - slightly off site (cab).
3) Next layer down - California Grill, Contemporary.

1-3 will be about $250-$180 per couple. V&A will be about $700. And V&A is WORTH it. We're booked again, NOV 2018 :).

All personal opinion - I'm not necessarily right, no one else is necessarily wrong.
