Can somebody who is currently at the resort let us know the pool hours for Stormalong Bay pool. Thanks!

What construction is happening there at the moment? We are due to go in six weeks

:welcome: back!

I don't have you on the Be Our Guest list so I will add you for October. BC, YC or BCV?

I believe the only thing going on at the resort is some painting and minor maintenance to the exterior of the resort- currently the Beach Club including the buildings near SAB. We have had differing reports of how intrusive the work has been to guests- I think it depends on the location of the rooms where people are staying.

:)

Sign me up. Beach Club stay May 19 to 26. I hope we like BC as much as we loved Yacht Club. Hoping to get reservations at Cape May for dinner and Beaches and Cream one day as well. Kiddo thinks we are going to POP again :) surprise!

Got it!

I'll add you to the list.

What an awesome surprise! I don't think you will have any problem getting the dining reservations you are looking for if you book them 180 days out.

We had the same issue - stayed on 4th floor at BC from the 22nd to the 31st. I was SOO angry at the construction. Had I known in advance, I would have switched to Yacht Club. That and several other issues with the room caused me to give a low rating on the survey when we came home and they called me immediately and rectified the situation. I'm so glad that I spoke up. This was our 4th time staying at BC and the first time we've ever had a problem.

:welcome: to this thread.

I am so sorry to hear about the issues you had during your stay. It is good that you followed up with your comments and that you are satisfied with the resolution.

Room 3528 -
Fireworks from Illuminations
Tiny balcony

I LOVE this picture!

May I use it on the view thread? It provides a really great perspective of the size of the balcony and the view you had, although I will understand if you prefer that I don't.

Thanks!

Do we know how long the detour is going last on the walkway to the studios?

:welcome: to posting on this forum.

:cool1:

Do you have an upcoming stay at this resort?

I have not heard estimates for the duration of the detour.

Just back from a quick long weekend trip at YC.

Booked water view with an AP discount with only a couple weeks notice. Didn’t do any phone requests, but did do a generic Touring Plans fax request for a king bed.

Got room 4137, in the corner looking straight out to the marina and down to the gazebo. King bed, shower, no daybed. Huge balcony, but not very private since balconies to the left looked almost directly into ours, and the side of the balcony opened onto a courtyard and the hallway windows in the next wing. Very close to elevators, which was great for getting in/out but not so great if you’re not a rope dropper (elevator dings every time the door opens, and many people talk very loudly in the hall while waiting for it). Not a bad room overall, though, and it would be perfect for a couple with a toddler in a pack and play since the lack of a daybed left a ton of extra floor space.

Thank you for the detailed description of your room. I'll add your comments to the view thread. Any chance that you have pictures you can post or email to me at beachclubdee at yahoo?

Just got to our room. Got one of my two room requests.
There’s quite a bit of resort work going on right now. No warning of this other than from the boards. It’s kind of noisy and disappointing honestly.
There is a note in the room about the work being done however.

Please don’t take my review as a reason to not visit Beach Club. Everyone has their own standards.
The renovations are just noisy in the public areas. We haven’t noticed an issue from our room.

I did receive a call from the housekeeping manager today and they were super apologetic about the nasty that was left in our room. They went above and beyond to make it right.
I’m hoping when we return to our room tonight that the room is clean and the slide is open.

UGH! Sorry to hear about the disappointing start to your trip.

We appreciate you sharing what you are encountering and providing follow-up to the issues with us.

There used to be a very sweet friendly older gentleman who held the doors and got you a taxi at the beach club lobby. He was very sweet and we remember him from many trips to the BC. Always putting a smile on peoples faces. Anyone know if he is still there? We are heading there in April.

:welcome: to posting here!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1, Post 15.

Are you talking about Art? If so, he retired in 2009.

Thank you for the picture and the thread about Art's retirement. He left the Beach Club prior to my first stay there, so I never got a chance to meet him.

I know how important a great greeter can be to enhance the experience of staying at the resort!

I just left Monday from staying a week at the Beach Club. I’m sorry to hear of others experiences, but I can tell you for me and my wife, our experience was flawless! This was our first time staying here, and starting with the fresh smells in the lobby, to the clean room, we have absolutely no complaints and booked our Bounce Back for here again next year!

The construction that was going on was not bad. Our standard room overlooked an area being done currently. Twice during our stay, we returned to the room during the day to find painters on our balcony painting. When they were done, they cleaned up after themselves and the job look great. Personally, I think people forget that maintenance has to be done occasionally and unfortunately sometimes that maintenance happens when your there for your trip! In no way whatsoever did the work being done at the resort affect me or my trip.

The staff was friendly and very knowledgeable. I had to call once because it seemed like my refrigerator was not keeping items cold. They sent someone up within minutes who checked it and found there was a problem. I had a replacement within 20 minutes of calling! Concierge helped me twice with some other issues, and although it seemed like they had a lot of staff that were “Earning their ears”, they were not left alone and had someone nearby to help guide them if they had questions concerning my issues.

We used the main pool twice and the quiet pool twice also. No problems. Although I did not use the slide, I never noticed it being closed. The lazy river was a favorite of ours, and the quiet pool came in handy for when we were doing laundry. The ability to walk 5 minutes to Epcot, and basically be central for other parks was great! Loved the walk over to Boardwalk, and were relaxed on the beach a couple nights when returning from Epcot.

I’d say to those that are “worried”, don’t be. When you come to Disney, the trip is what you make of it. A lot of us drive Chevys because we had a bad experience with a Ford, and vice versa. It’s a large resort, with many rooms, don’t let 1 or 2 bad reviews make you second guess your plans. You will find this situation at every resort, whether it be Disney or someplace else…….

:welcome: here!

Thank you so much for the review of your stay!

Hi, i am aware that the guest laundry is operated by debit or credit card. I was wondering if you can purchase laundry cards in the resort as i know they were available at some resorts in the past.

:welcome:

When is your trip?

Great question.

I have never heard of the laundry cards, but this is the right place to ask in case someone else has used them or found them available here.

There is a thread from this morning started by a poster who was refused entry to World showcase last night after EMH. She was trying to get back to Beach Club & was told by more than 1 CM that she could not enter WS to get to the International Gateway. She was told to take the monorail to TTC, then get a bus to BC. A group of others was also trying to get back. They were waiting for a bus to the Studios & were going to get back from there. That bus didn’t come so a different bus driver actually took them from the front of Epcot back to BC.

Wondering if anyone else has had any problems with this? Or any insight into why it is happening?

Exiting through the IG has never been an issue. The directions on how to get back are totally wrong! Buses do not run from TTC and, further, when I read the thread you mentioned, it noted MK was closed so no buses from there either.

There are no buses from TTC any longer and I read the thread--MK was closed so no buses from there either. Clearly a case of a misinformed and poorly trained CM. There was speculation that there MAY HAVE BEEN something going on at the IG that prevented exiting from there--if so, poor communication to the guests and even poorer directions from those directing the guests.

Thanks for sharing the info about this thread. I don't always make it over to main resorts board, but I have been following this thread once you pointed it out.

I agree with Tess and many of the other posters on the thread that this was a case of CM inexperience.

The takeaway from this for me is that if you get an answer from a CM that does not make sense or in this case is directing you to an unacceptable suggestion for your situation, ASK FOR A MANAGER OR SUPERVISOR who can hopefully provide a better solution.

Things have definitely looked up. Our room has been beautifully cleaned since our first day. I went from saying I would never stay here again to saying maybe I could spend a day or two here in the future.
I don’t know if I would want to spend a whole trip here. It’s a pretty energetic resort and I think maybe I’m getting too old for that. Lol!

Thank you for the welcome we will be arriving at the Yacht Club on 4th October for a 12 night stay. It's our first stay there but we have stayed on site many times in the past and we are looking forward to food and wine.

:offtopic: I have 3 day park hoppers (I haven't used them yet)- Can I upgrade to a 7 day park hopper at Guest Services at Downtown Disney? Or does it have to be done at the parks?

Hello from the YC! Got our room ready text as we rode in from the airport about 10:45 this morning. Our magic bands worked on the elevator so we took ourselves up to club level check in. Introduced ourselves to the CMs & told them we had been here many times before & didn’t need any orientation. Unfortunately, our room is the furthest from the lounge. We had a perfect, close room in April, so we were due for this. Our view is the pool & the ugly roof underneath.

There is a note from the manager that there is roof repair work scheduled for 9- 5 pm. Nothing happening today tho.

I took pictures of the materials set upon the roof but am getting the file too big message, will have to try again later.

Last month, we were one of the first guests at the pool (SAB) and my daughter was chosen to go on a treasure hunt with the staff. She got to hang up the Pirate flag on the ship and they even gave her a beach pail, bracelet/necklace and beach ball! ☠️View attachment 349463

Wow!!! That is so cool! I haven't seen or even heard of this before.

Trying again to post the pictures of the roof work. Nothing was being done there today. Not sure if it because it is a Saturday or because the weather has been overcast with lightening in the area this afternoon. We’ll see what happens in the next few days.

Thanks for the photos. Hope whatever is going on up there is not disruptive for you or the others around you.

We'll be staying BC club level in about a week, assuming Florence allows us to travel down there! On our first morning at Beach Club, we'll need to leave early for Hollywood Studios Extra Morning Magic. I'd love to get a cup of cereal or bagel or something for the trip, but imagine we'll need to leave before 7. Is it appropriate to ask a CM the evening before if we could get a couple of takeaway items for the next morning, or should we just plan on picking up some breakfast bars?

It is certainly fine to ask, but I am not sure what they will have in the back and when the re-stock for each service. Yogurt (prepackaged) shouldn't be an issue as I have seen CMs give those out all day, but the other items they may not even have in the back yet. I would make sure to have some breakfast bars or something with you just in case they don't have anything.

I often bring along instant oatmeal packets (bowls/cups, spoons) and use the coffee maker to brew hot water. Gets me through until we can stop for a snack....:bitelip:
