Surviving Summer 2019 at Disneyland!

Looking at the blockout calendar I was guessing that SWGE may be open as early as late May. I was anticipating that deluxe holders may get access during the week when it first opens, then blocked on the weekends. Before full blockout happens later in the summer. Just speculation though!
I never even thought of that! Those are our dates no matter what happens so I guess we'll wait and see. I can't imagine SWGE being open and us not at least walking through to check it out. But man I'm scared of the crowds! Even when Cars Land opened we waited a few months before going.

Oh, crap, I hope not. We're booked for May 30-June 3. SWGE opening before then would throw a HUGE monkey wrench into my plans.

Just a guess on my part! But I would think they would give Deluxe AP some access and since they are blocked fri-sun I figured it’s a definite possibility.

I originally planned to avoid summer 2019 but it looks like this is the best time for my daughter's family. I am evaluating where to stay and if the perks for on site hotel are worth it. I love the 7:00 AM early entry but not sure how often the 3 teenagers can make it that early. Probably not more than a couple days as they will stay in the parks late. Has anyone heard of on-site perks for SWGE or when they may be announced if offered?

SWGE opening scared my husband. so I crunched numbers and it looks like we will be taking a small WDW trip instead. I still want to go to DL, but he kept suggesting the change, so it will have to stay on my bucket list for a few more years.

Y'all have fun though!:wave2:

We're going next summer. I booked DLH (bit of a splurge for us) for three nights in July in hopes the Early Entry will help with Star Wars. We were going to SoCal anyway, so Star Wars is an added bonus, for the two boys in our family anyway...the girls might just enjoy the pool area at DLH.

Those ticket restrictions make me hopeful that they're still trying to be ready for Memorial Day weekend. I just booked VGC for June 16-21, hoping to avoid some of the initial crazy and grad nights. Otherwise, I have a hotel rezzie for July 13-21 if doesn't open until the June 22-23 weekend and we'll save our VGC points for Sept when the point chart settles down again.

I think there will definitely be SWGE perks offered to DLR hotel guests that are not offered to off-site guests.

The August 2019 blockout calendar is up. Deluxe is allowed back into DL on 8/19/19 and So Cal/So Cal Select are back 8/26/19. (For DCA, Deluxe isn't blocked for Aug. and the So Cal APs are back on 8/19.) ...
And D23 Expo will be 8/23-25/2019, so you'll have hardcore Disney fans doing the pre/post Expo parks visit for SWGE, too. Last Expo they got to see the preview of the model for GE; now they'll want to see the real thing.

Re-posting this from a different thread.

We added a quick DL trip to our Hawaii trip in June. We will be staying at the GC for the first time from June 19-22. We are not super Star Wars fans, so I am not changing our dates either way. We are just excited to be visiting DL again, and we will adapt all our plans. It would be cool for a short visit to Galaxy's Edge and then everywhere else.

VGC June 16-23 here! Same as you, getting in as late as possible before those points go up. I think we will be good. If not, it’s entirely possible I’ll take a kid out of school for the first time ever to make it in that Sep/Oct time frame.

We just put in a six night request with David’s for a 2 bedroom villa July 29, fingers crossed!

Thanks for all the information! We are in the first stages of planning a two weeks trip to California for August 2019. We will probably end at DL so Aug 14-18. We went to WDW multiple time and stayed two nights at Aulani recently. It is hard to know how long we will want to stay at DL and where but this thread has been super useful so far.

Planning for Aug 2019. Staying on-site for sure. This just reminded me to go look at some rooms, but Stitch ate the page. Both DLR and WDW websites have been really wonky lately.

I already have a hotel booked for July 12-19, 2019! I'm a little nervous because we're not using our VGC points (it's SO expensive!). Our original plan was June, but we decided to not chance a CRAZY opening weekend or missing the opening altogether. We will go back in Sept and Dec 2019 using our points when it's cheaper.

My head tells me we should wait longer because of the madhouse, but we LOVE star wars and have been counting this down for so long. We're just gonna go for it (that's my birthday week!) and hope for the best!

I'm trying to decide if I should buy our signature APs in advance to save money in anticipation of a price increase, or 5 day park hoppers so we get an early entry day (then upgrade at the end).
Personally I’d go for the discounted AP’s now.

We are still debating dates, but are aiming somewhere between July 22-August 15. I'm going to be booking in the next week or so. We will absolutely be staying onsite for this one just in case the park starts reaching capacity and we want to make full use of early entry; even if it's just to use that hour to go wait to get into Galaxy's Edge. Our current thought is that if we go Tuesday-Saturday we will get all three magic mornings :) Of course we are planning on getting Max Pass.

We used Max Pass last February and it was an absolute game changer and really made doing Star Wars land right away very doable. Our general plan is to head directly for it, use max passes on the two rides, maybe check out the shops then get out of there. Then I'm hoping that reservations for dining show up as well.

I'm also debating on somebody getting an annual pass in our group. We used to just have one person get one for the discounts but the price went up so much that it wasn't worth it anymore. We might be getting a suite this time so that changes things a bit.
You could get a chase Disney visa for discounts.

My original plan:
15-26 July to see San Francisco, then L.A., then ending the trip Disneyland.

I have booked Castle Inn already, I stayed here in 2014 during my first visit and was happy enough with the accomodations to repeat the stay. We plan to get Maxpass.

Me and my Disney friend both go back to school, we know for sure summer is the time we both have off. Last year I finished the list to see all Disney parks in the world with a Disney Asia trip. Disneyland Anaheim is the last one my friend needs to see.

We might change to late August as someone else suggested in the other thread, the D23 Expo is 23-25 August, which will make the parks even more crowded :p but the Expo is something I would like to go to one day, so why not now!

Either way, we are not into Star Wars, so we will probably avoid the land or use a fastpass and just hope the crowds in the rest of the park will be manageable. Rope drop, focus on the rides unique to Disneyland, we are show/parade/character guests, we will find ways to enjoy ourselves. :)
Personally with this plan I’d buy the Disneyland maxpass pre-paid tickets through Disney web site as soon as 2019 tickets are available.

We are staying off property at a Quality Inn, it was supposed to be a "cheap trip" then I decided on 5 park days, character meals, and some dining packages :laughing::laughing:

We definitely plan on rope dropping, we are traveling from the Tulsa area, so time differences will be on our side this time. We did 7am park opens at WDW and loved it! We were able to get almost everything done by lunch, and had the afternoons to take it easy while the lines were longer than we were willing to do with a 4y/o.
Is it the quality inn on Manchester? Have you checked the prices at desert inn & suites? The toilet was dirty when we stayed at quality in.
