Anyone rent from them for WDW? I may have to rent a scooter for our Sept trip if my health doesn't improve by then and I wanted to go through them.

Also if I do have to rent one any tips for a 44 yr old first time scooter user lol

I rented my wheelchair from them for my upcoming trip. I will let you know how it goes.

Wheelchair drop-off was pretty easy. We checked in at the Poly in person. The rep from Cloud of Goods texted me about our arrival time. We arranged for the drop-off which was done while we were checking in. The wheelchair itself was high quality and comfortable.

The day before we left, I texted them to arrange pick-up. When I got no response, I called, and then emailed them. Nothing. No response. The next day, I spoke with the concierge who told me to leave it with Bell Services. They held it until pick-up. That night, when we were long gone from the Poly, Cloud of Goods finally got back to me. They wanted to meet me in person, and I explained that I could no longer wait for them to respond to my texts, calls, and emails and that we had left hours before. They eventually got the wheelchair.

I didn't like that I was unable to reach them. What if there had been a problem with the wheelchair?

Oh wow that's not good...

This is very worrisome. I don't know that this company could be recommended in good faith.

Additionally, after doing some light Googling, I found several vague references, both on the website and their Facebook page, as well as in a couple of interviews they have done (BTW - they only list 2 employees on the website, and the website itself is a canned "fill in the blanks" product that is chock full of stock images...) in which they reference that they want to "become the Uber" of personal equipment rentals - like strollers, pack-n-plays, ECVs, wheelchairs and similar equipment.

Let that soak in for a minute. You probably rented someone's "personal" wheelchair... And the reason they didn't call you back is probably because they are essentially "matchmaking" people with equipment to rent and people who want to rent that equipment. (But I'm willing to bet that you paid about the same price as you would have from a *reputable* rental company that would have - at the very least - sanitized the arm rests prior to bringing out the rental)

If you look on their Facebook page, this company has problems with taking reservations and not being able to fill them, on a regular basis. One family reported that they were left high and dry just two days before they were supposed to arrive at DisneyWorld.

I would avoid this "company" at all costs. I think they are trying to appear in search listings as a legit company, when in reality it's not much better than posting on a local Craigslist site that you want to rent someone else's filthy pack-n-play while you are in town...

It appears that I got lucky. The chair was in good shape, and it was clean. I am a bit of a germaphobe, so I wiped it down with Windex wipes that I brought from home. No dirt or grime came up.

As far as communication, it was really inappropriate that they didn't get back to me in over 29 hours total. Fortunately, the Poly took responsibility for the chair until they came to pick it up. After that experience, I will not be using them again. What you have detailed pretty much seals the deal.

I looked into the more common wheelchair companies like Buena Vista and read some terrible reviews which is why I went with Cloud of Goods in the first place. Oh well...

My family has rented from Cloud of Goods numerous times and I'm sorry but I have to fully disagree with your interpretation of how they do business. We have rented an ECV on multiple occasions and every member we have worked with has been fantastic to say the least! It definitely is unfortunate that the one customer had a delayed response but I can say from personal experience that we have not encountered the same issue. In my opinion, the company has been extremely responsive and went above and beyond to correct an error that was made on my part in regards to the delivery date and time.

I am not certain about the "matchmaking" you are referring to but I know that the scooters that we have gotten have Cloud of Goods signs all over them so I can't imagine they are doing that to other peoples personal equipment. I have never had an issue with the cleanliness or condition of my scooter.

Overall, I absolutely recommend this company from personal experience and I have rented from other companies in the past that disregard the best interest of their customer. Cloud of Goods is not one of those companies. They exceeded our expectations which is why we continue to use them each time we return to Disney.

I'm really, truly glad you had great experiences with the company.

My reply above was from last year. A lot can change in a year - for example, in less than the space of a year, folks here saw a new company in the Orlando area come in and really dominate the ECV rental space. (It was actually kind of startling how fast it happened!) This new company (Gold Mobility) is working hard to earn and keep their customers, and they seem to be doing an amazing job. I recommend them based on multiple experiences of my friends who I trust.

You indicated in another post on this forum that you use them in California, and the prior discussion (both in this post, and that one) was regarding their performance in Orlando.

Honestly, I have no skin in the game (I own my own personal mobility device, and have for years now) - the only reason I have them marked with an asterisk *my* book is because from what I can tell, Cloud of Goods is not a franchise operation, they aren't a local company, nor are they a nationwide company, but rather some kind of other hybrid business model.

That's OK - it really is, because without that kind of thinking, we wouldn't have Uber & Lyft, or Door Dash, or lots of other "gig economy" service providers.

BUT... Most of the people who need to use a mobility device at WDW need a device delivered quickly, that is going to work for the length of their vacation, and will be worry-free. They want to plug it in to charge in their hotel room every night, and drive it all day, and pay the least amount possible. That's why, if you look at the thread on the DISabilities forum for Gold Mobility (for example) you will see all kinds of positive reviews from DISboards members who have had that kind of great experiences at a very competitive, low rate. That makes for an easy recommendation.

I would never recommend a company to someone if I thought there was a chance that poorly maintained equipment, or late/non-existent deliveries might ruin their vacation. I certainly don't want to be the person who steered someone towards a "value" that ended up being a nightmare for them. I bet you wouldn't either!

The fact that your experiences were great in California doesn't necessarily translate to Orlando in this case, because of the structure of this organization. Until we see consistent, positive reviews for a period of time for the operation in Orlando, I would not recommend them.

My opinion here is just that - one opinion from one person. I respect your opinion, and I hope you continue to have good experiences with them.

I was fortunate not to need a wheelchair in Disneyland. It’s much smaller and my knees were able to handle the walking. It helped that the monorail was steps away from the Disneyland Hotel where we stayed. The monorail took us to Tomorrowland which saved a lot of walking. Also there’s a lot more benches to sit on all over Disneyland Resort including Downtown Disney. Whenever I needed a break, there was a nearby seat.

I will need to rent a wheelchair again next summer when we return to WDW. I am not sure who I will use, but I will certainly be reading up on all of the companies in the meantime.

Definitely compare the companies. I did and August is the first time Im going with Gold Mobility. I've used an evc, rented thru the same company for 6 years. They quoted me as a "preferred customer", for a 12 night stay. Gold,Mobility was $150 cheaper. It was a "no brainer" for me.
