Post Your 2018 Food & Wine Festival Special Events Here

Totally different experience.

Here is my menu from 2015:

In addition to that, you started with fried Lotus Roots, Purple Potatoes, and Sweet Potatoes along with Kirin Beer.

They actually change the menu every year. It is in one of the back rooms that has 2 tables holding a total of 16 people only. They do 5 courses and some courses have more then 1 item. They have a host explain about each item and where it comes from in Japan. They have had many items that I have never had, or even had the opportunity to have tried if not for this event. They are more then generous with the food and the drinks. Unlike all of the other events, you can drink as much as you want. They don't do any of the classic hibachi show tricks. Everyone always seems to have an amazing time at the event.

Many of us here have been doing events for years and know that the menus change year to year. If the menus didn't change, that would be super boring! The menu posted was just an example to show the quality of the food presented along with the link to the full review for the details of how the event went.

Most of the special events do let you drink as much as you want as well once you get beyond the low cost seminars/Mix It Make It except for the Mexican Tequila Lunch, although if you are lucky - there will be some empty seats by you and you can get some extras as it is all poured ahead of time.

Yes, I was just posting that for the benefit of those who did not know.

First time booking for any F&W events. Going to do the Mix It, Make It one. We can pick between the Crystal Head Vodka one or the Wine, Cheese & Chocolate. Anybody done either of these? Was thinking of the Vodka one because my DH is not a huge wine fan.

So I screwed up this year and missed the first week to sign up for the F&W special events. One of our favorite events is sold out, is there ever a chance to walk up and see if anyone didn’t show. I know that these are pre-pay events, but is there any chance for us?

Ugh, sorry you missed it. What event? I suppose there’s always a chance - I’d keep calling periodically. I know one year I had to cancel due to an emergency. And I know others have reported empty seats at events - but not sure if they were no shows or just never sold. In terms of a day-of walk-up, I don’t know that the site would be equipped to process payment (likely not if World Showplace or Festival Center). I suspect calling (or checking online if available to book online) is the best method. If at one of the restaurants, you could try asking the GM a few days before and see if they have other suggestions. Good luck!!

hello. just decided to book a trip in September. We had insisted we would skip a year at F&W but I just couldn't resist. We are attending PFTS wine Vue lounge on 9/22 , Italian Regional pairing Lunch 9/24 and Tequila Pairing lunch 9/21. We have done all three before and I was tempted to do some other pairing events but these are just such a favorite that we are doing them all again. Still debating on adding any seminars or not. Everyone have a great time!

Will some of the booths be open next week? I know officially F&W doesn't start till the end of the month.

Italian Food, Wine vs Beer 10/30
I tried to book for 11/6 but it is sold out. I decided not to book PFTS my wife is a vegetarian so we couldnt justify paying almost $250 for her.

We are doing the Tequila Lunch on Friday 9/21. Did it last year and loved it so much we wanted to do it again. Since Champagne is my fav, I'm excited about the Mimosa Bar this year. Based on maps I've seen, looks like the original Festival Center is open again for 2018? If so, very excited about that too. Going through the Festival Center is a must do for us every year.

Yes. Back again and it seems like it will be pretty packed. Three "booths" between the mimosa bar, craft beers and the wine shop now offering a couple of small plates. They're described as three separate things but could be co-located within the center... who knows. I agree that a mimosa to start off a day at the festival sounds fantastic!!

Is anyone attending the Italian Food, Wine vs. Beer event at Via Napoli tomorrow? If so, would you mind posting the menu? We're going on 10/2 and we have a couple of people in our party who don't eat seafood. I refuse to cancel (not sure that I could anyway) but it would be nice to prepare the more difficult person for disappointment. The other one will just pass any seafood on to someone else in our party.
