Ample Hills vs. Beaches and Creams?

Right now I have a reservation for Beaches and Cream for one of my HS/EPCOT day so I can go and get a Sundae or the famous No Way Jose while I make my way from one park to the other. But I've been reading awesome stuff about Ample Hills Creamery and I want to check it out.

This is a dessert before lunch kinda situation as my ADR is for 1:40pm and my plan is to just grab the ice cream to go and eat lunch at the food booths at Food and Wine Festival, so food at B&C is not a factor at all.

Thoughts on Ample Hills? Best flavors to try? Does it top the No Way Jose?

I will say it is completely different. B&C you sit and eat - I am not sure if you can get the No Way Jose to go - we never tried that. B&C has regular flavors - Vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, mint, coffee, etc. At Ample Hill it is a take out - no seats. They have regular flavors but also ones that are like "mixins" - so delicious and much creamier than B&C. We are from NYC and this is where Ample Hill started so we eat their ice cream all the time. We have so many favorites. They will give samples to try to see if you like it. We like the ice cream much better at Ample Hill - but the sundaes at B&C are really good - I just wish you could get them all to go - it is so hard to get an ADR. But we would pick Ample Hill every time. I love Nonna D's Oatmeal ice cream and PB wins the cup. My kids love the Butter Cake one.
Enjoy wherever you go!

I love the No Way Jose, which you can't get at the 'to go' window. Have had ice cream at Ample Hills twice and was not wowed. It was all icy where it melted and refroze. And taste was no different than B&C (which many folks poo poo because it's 'just Edy's'). Don't get the draw.

If you are walking from DHS to EP, the most convenient thing to do is to get a sundae at Ample Hills. It’s all to go and the ice cream is much creamier than the Edy’s at B&C. If you really want the No Way Jose, you’ll have to actually sit down and eat it in B&C as you can’t get it to go.

Ample Hills is the best ice cream on property. Unless you live in New York, it will be hard to find this elsewhere.

B&C is Edy's (or Dreyer's for those on the west coast), which as we all know, can be found in your local grocery store or Walmart (most of the B&C toppings can be found there too).

Enjoy your trip!

Ample Hills, no question. Pretty much everything is good there. :earboy2: I love the sweet cream ice cream. The baked/unbaked is good too.

Ample hill sells an ice cream flight too. Six smaller scope. Great if you just cannot decide. Plenty for two to share. We take our ice cream and relax at one of the tables outside nearby.

I see Ample Hills has quite the following! I'll definitely have to try it now. I love the No Way Jose but I can rarely finish it when sharing it, much less this time.

A stop by Ample Hills whilst making my from HS to EPCOT just made its way onto my plans! I'm glad they let us try the ice cream before buying, I usually stick to chocolate min ice cream, so I have a hard time deciding something new!

I think you have all the info here - at B&C you can also order burgers and a few other items and you can sit down (if you can get an ADR) or take-out. The ice cream quality is standard grocery store level. Ample Hills is some of the best ice cream you can get anywhere - no tables inside but there are places to sit on the boardwalk, no food other than ice cream (maybe iced coffee?) but the quality of the ice cream is much better than B&C.

Ample Hills & both their Oatmeal Lace & Ooey Gooey Butter Cake are wonderful.

Personally, I think Epcot's L'Artisan des Glaces in the France Pavilion is better than both & is right in the park. The Cinnamon with Carmelized Pecan ice cream is top notch & unique. Their seasonal ice cream macaron is heavenly.

Yeah Ample Hills is amazing. Ooey Gooey Butter Cake and baked/unbaked are my favorites. Good thing we are staying at the VGF next trip because if we stayed the BCV again we would be there daily.

Ample Hills is the best ice cream on property and because of the mixed in flavors or pieces, you dont have to order a sundae with all kinds of peanut butter and chocolate sauce to make it taste good. There are plenty of seats on The Boardwalk to sit and enjoy the ice cream but most are in the sun. If you want to sit in shade, walk around the corner that Flying Fish is on and sit in the shaded area under The Boardwalk resort lobby or on the second level just outside the lobby.

One other thing. If you are on the DDP, a small ice cream at Ample Hills is a snack credit. We usually use multiple snack credits per day at Ample Hills.

I plan on just grabbing my ice cream and continue on my way to Epcot, so no worries obout a place to sit! I might have to grab a double scoop and skip lunch for a few hours you guys have seriously made up my mind!

Thank you all!

If you want the best ice cream, go to Ample Hills. (cones, shakes, cups to go)

If you want mass produced Edy's ice cream and eat a gluttonous sundae, in a sit down environment, go to Beaches and Cream.

So I'm going to be the odd man out, but I really didn't like Ample Hills--actually threw a $10 cup of ice cream away. Fat content is so high that my mouth literally felt greasy. Plus, I felt like it lacked flavor. I was so disappointed since we stay at BWV all the time. I eventually got my ice cream fix at Haagen Dazs at Disney Springs.
