How much was your very first car?

My dad bought me a new car when I got out of high school. I think it was around $3000. Tells you how long ago that was.

The first two cars I drove were former family cars.

The first one I bought was a 1985 Chrysler Laser, new, for about 11K.
I remember those - sweet! I coveted something sporty during my "Ford Tempo years" and the minute it was paid for I traded it in on a Mustang! :car:

I think I paid $3,500 for a '94 Hyundai Elantra. It was silver on the outside and smelled like mold inside and the engine died the same month I made my last payment.

My first new car was a 1974 Chevy Nova. Can’t remember the cost, but monthly payment was $60. Drove it until 1976-7 when my then dh totaled it (he was uninjured). Then purchased a new Pontiac Firebird.

My mom gave me here old white Volkswagen 69 Bug, when she bought it Herbie the Love Bug was big, and she got one just like it, it was old but ran, I had so much fun in it, she gave it to me when I turned 16

Geez I don't remember the year of my first car:scratchin but I bought it in 1984 a used Chevy Ventura for $1700. Drove it all 4 years of college and then bought a brand new 1988 Red Camaro for $11,500. I kept the Ventura and drove it in the winter and garaged the Camaro. It was terrible in the snow, I'd fish tale all over the place. I can't remember when I got rid of the Ventura or actually selling it. Dang I'm getting old, will have to ask DH.

edit: Shoot DH doesn't know either, thanks now I'm going to be racking my brain trying to remember. It sucks when both of your parents are gone and you have noone to ask about things like this :-(

The 1985 Laser was the only sporty car I've ever had. A few years later I got a job with a company car included. Every two years I'd get the use of a smallish sedan, like a Dodge Spirit or Ford Contour. I sold the Laser about 1993.

LOL. Must be getting old because a Ventura was a Pontiac, not a Chevy. But they didn't make Venturas in 1984, they stopped making them in 1978.

When I was 16 in 1984, I bought a 1972 Pontiac Lemans for $650. It was all rust and primer, no paint, but the engine was good (except for having to add oil all the time) and it fit all my friends. We'd pool together our money, put $4 in the gas tank, buy cigarettes to all share, and maybe a little beer. Good times!

Not sure if the exact price. My parents bought me a new 1972 Pinto before starting the college commute....around $2500

1985 Chrysler LeBaron convertible. Burgundy with a white top and white leather seats :rotfl: I was 16, it was a gift from my dad who had bought it for about $1500 and then fixed it all up. I LOVED that car, I thought it was so cool lol

1973 Pontiac Lemans paid $500.00 for it. Fill up the oil and check the gas. I traded it a few months later for a 1978 Buick LeSabre. They gave me $1000.00 for it.

1964 Buick Special purchased in 1973 for $50. It was a pretty decent car, good, reliable transportation. I sold in in 1976 for $100!
