We're half way there - JUNE WISH month of motivation

Hope you have an amazing vacation @HappyGrape!!

My weight is inching downward despite a lack of tracking and running. I still make a lot of good choices, but I need to become more commited if I want to see success! Tonight‘s dinner will be ratatouille with bulgur and goat cheese. Healthy and lots of veggies!!

Diet wise, I went over and had a soda for the first time since January this weekend. It was really hot and I really needed the calories since I was walking around all day. They didn’t have anything healthy.

I had a steak, an ice cream, a hamburger and a Dr Pepper on Saturday. My phone was very disappointed in me.

On the plus side, I just did my weigh-in and I lost 1.5 pounds this week. It’s been a while since I’ve lost that much.

Happy Monday everyone!

We have passed the half way mark of the month - don't lose sight of your monthly goal - you are almost there you CAN DO IT!!

What is motivating you this week?

Wonder-Woman-Movie-Gal-Gadot.jpg

Not Disney I know - but she released a teaser pic for WW2 - DD and I loved the first movie - A good strong, healthy woman that can bring some inspiration this week...

Side note ... I am driving myself crazy trying to decide what clothes to take for myself to Orlando! My DS did better job than me packing :(

I am way too excited to sleep but I am trying to focus on the happy element of it and not stress over not sleeping.

I have been eating in balance but last two days I had some bread and a lot of bloat. I think I will try to limit it going forward as it's causing me a lot of discomfort.

trying to come up with something to say about healthy eating without luck - sorry, its all about WDW for me right now. 3 more sleeps to go

Well done DS! You don't want discomfort on the long flight o_O so use that as motivation to try an avoid the bread. So exciting in the last few days before your trip ... I am sure you will pack some fabulous outfits :-)

Good news on creeping downwards - Think about howyou can tackle the things getting in your way this week to help you have a plan to overcome and succeed :-)

Congrats on the loss :cheer2:

Happy Monday All!

We got back from Orlando last night -- what a fun trip! We did Volcano Bay and a little Harry Potter stuff at IOA, and most of the time was spent with family. It was so nice to get away.

I ate mindfully but not restrictive and my body isn't exactly thrilled. Tell you what though-- I enjoyed everything I ate LOL! However, my hands and feet are a bit swollen from all the salt, and the scale is up nearly 6 lbs! That's gotta be water weight right?! So that is motivating me today-- get that scale back to before! I'll be hitting the gym tonight for sure.

Woohoo... the trip is almost here!

For whatever reason it seems that my body retains water like crazy when I spend a lot of time in the water. We like to go to a local thermal pool complex and the day after I always am up 2 pounds at least. So, yes, my bet is on water weight!!

How was Volcano Bay? I have heard mixed reviews... My next trip to WDW is in December, so not sure about water park weather.

What is motivating you this week?

Someone asked me if I would be seeing the Northern Lights while I was in Alaska. I don't think so, as I'll be there right after the solstice so it will be more a case of endless days with little to no sunset. But it got me to researching the Norther Lights and this image came up. This is the second time in a short period of time that I've seen an image of Earth from this point of view, and its fascinating. And an inspiration because its a reminder to look at things from a different point of view every now and then. You might be amazed!

Edited to add: I was thinking about this more and remembered how the top of Spaceship Earth is one of my favorite things because there's no other way I'd ever be able to see Earth from that perspective. And same thing with Mission to Space: first time I did it I was a tiny bit freaked out because I had heard so much about the g-force. But sitting there I thought, when would I ever have the opportunity to stare up a gantry like that... then the spinning started and my face slid to the back of my head.

Good morning all, welcome to Topic Tuesday:

This week lets think about the role of the mind in our quest for a healthy life. The thoughts we have and our self-talk can help or hurt our journey. Many of us are harder on ourselves than we ever would be if we were supporting a friend to achieve a goal or cope with setbacks in life.

What role is that inner-self playing at the moment in your journey.... is it helping or hurting?

If we think positively what can you adopt when you have those inner conversations this week to specifically get you through whatever you are focusing on this week to help you achieve you overall monthly goal?

Oh no - I am sure water weight is a big part of it - Hope you see a satisfying shift downwards again soon.

Oh what a shame you won't get to the the lights - I think that would be wonderful to see. Totally agree about looking at things from a different perspective - not always easy to do but often that is when we can grow and find solutions.

is motivating me this week is I lost half a pound last week! Nice to see a number with nothing after the decimal point!

Congrats :cheer2: yes a nice whole number is a good feeling and is always a satisfying achievement to see those pesky fractions disappear :rotfl2:

Good morning! I'm feeling my resolve slipping away. Each day, I've seen a little more getting eroded, and my weight has been seesawing in reaction. I'm trying hard to think of how far I've come and not allowing stupid old habits to re-enter my life (including 560 calories of cheddar/bacon potato skins last night and taking the bus to/from work instead of walking from the train station).

I've been trying to give myself grace with it. I've kept basically within the same 2-3 pounds overall, so even though I've loosened up on activity/food, it's been in maintenance range. And the 83 pounds came off within a fairly short period of time (7 months). I've got 60 pounds to go.

But I have a goal of losing 100 pounds within the year (September 15), so if I'm going to do it, I need to take the steps to move toward the goal and recommit. Restarted walking today, and it feels good. A step at a time, right?

One of the questions that's asked in the on-line course for my November retreat is "what is the first lie that you learned about yourself". Over the weekend it finally came to me that something I've always accepted as truth isn't. It's become part of the core of who I think I am and how I think my life works. I'd have to say that more often than not my inner-self is hurting/blocking my progress... and a lot of it has to do with this core belief, so working thru it is going to be monumental.

I'm totally in vacation countdown mode... yippee! I don't fly out until Friday morning, but I have Thursday off, so I do have the entire day to get ready, but I don't want it to be a day of constant movement, so I am trying to get as much as possible taken care of before then. Last night I did go get a new sprinkler and kitty litter, two things off of the list. Tonight it's a haircut, washing and blocking the pennants I knit for the retreat and doing a few more chores. I'm already starting to pack... the yarn for my class is in my project bag. First things first!

Definitely a step and a mouthful at a time :-) maybe your body and mind needs a little rest stop maintaining at current spot for a bit to then re-set and lose again (I read that somewhere - I can't remember where at the moment). I also found this info from the Mayo Clinic you might find helpful https://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/weight-loss/in-depth/weight-loss-plateau/art-20044615

Sounds like you have been doing some good self-reflection with the help of your course :-)

WOOHOO WEDNESDAY

Lets celebrate - what has made you smile, laugh, feel joyful or proud this week?

Self talk still sits easily on the negative side for me - I have to try really hard to fight those thoughts and replace them with a positive - flexible thoughts about myself and my abilities to change.

If we think positively what can you adopt when you have those inner conversations this week to specifically get you through whatever you are focusing on this week to help you achieve you overall monthly goal?

I need to do the weekly plan for food - we have been winging it the last couple of nights and it hasn't been good - so my talk needs to be about the benefits (health and financial) of making the plan, making the time to shop and then sticking to the plan ....

Lets celebrate - what has made you smile, laugh, feel joyful or proud this week?

Struggling with this again.... DD's appointment with Orthodontist is tomorrow - and my mother just called to say she found out today she is going to need surgery on her lower eyelid. The best I can think of is it is 7 working days until the end of term and a badly needed break from work coming up.

Not Disney I know - but she released a teaser pic for WW2 - DD and I loved the first movie - A good strong, healthy woman that can bring some inspiration this week...

We just saw this for the first time on Saturday. I thought I would take a nap during it but was wide awake because it was so good. Can't wait fort he next one.

My Woohoo is I am still getting up in the morning to wake. It may not be pretty and I am pretty crabby for most of the walk but I am doing it. We didn't wake on Monday morning because DH said it was too hot and I wasn't going to argue. But we made sure to get our steps in the afternoon. So instead of 77 degrees while walking it was 94 with a heat index of 100+ while we walked. We kicked ourselves for that. DH even had me walking the the drizzling rain yesterday as I glared at him most of the time for it. But I was happy in the afternoon that I went.

Woohoo it's Wednesday... or is it Friday?

There was a steady stream of cars going by this morning while I waited to cross to the bus stop, and I thought to myself "that's a lot of cars for a Friday". Then I realized it was just my personal Friday... tee hee. I have managed to plow thru most of the work I need to get done prior to heading out, my list for today is pretty light which is a good thing because I've got a major case of short-timers and don't feel like doing much of anything. Except for day-dream about Alaska.

How was Volcano Bay? I have heard mixed reviews... My next trip to WDW is in December, so not sure about water park weather.

We didn't experience a whole lot before the afternoon thunderstorm rolled in. We were there for a few hours though and rode the big water coaster which is really neat and uses mag lev so you actually accelerate uphill. Then we also did the big drop slides and the wave pool. I daresay they outdid Disney's waterparks. As much as I hate to say that. Haha! I do think Disney themes their waterparks better, but the technological advancements made with VB and the Tapu things are really amazing! We would get a return time for a ride then go eat, drink or just hang in the rivers until it was time to ride. They have a lazy river and a crazy river. We spent so much time in the crazy river-- it's a lazy river that goes really fast and has a lot of waves. I am excited to return sometime this summer to use the rest of my tickets and do the tube rides as well. If you like water parks and the weather is good for it, I recommend it!

Woohoo! I got some test results back for my heart and things are normal! I am starting to decrease my meds and if my next test and the next 6 weeks are normal, I can start to come off them totally! NSV for real!!!

Now.... the cardiologist does want me to loose a little more weight so I am going to have readjust my goals. But whatever it takes!
