Tony’s at Magic Kingdom

We are thinking about eating at Tony’s for dinner and wanted to know if it offers a good view of the castle for Happily Ever After? Also if there are any thoughts on the restaurant those would be great as well.

No view of the castle. Good view of parades if seated outside. Food is NOT considered worst. We've had decent food and excellent service every time. It gets mixed reviews but so do many other restaurants. Many of others favorites have been our worst experiences.

We ate there for lunch last year and were happy with our meal. My only complaint was the tiny women’s restroom. By the time I got back to the table my spaghetti had been delivered and cold. They were very nice and heated it back up for me. I’d eat there again.

I’m finding out that dh and I seem to like a lot of the underrated restaurants and not the popular ones. Maybe that’s because I get my hopes way high for those and they end up disappointing me.

No castle view. You may be thinking of The Plaza. The plaza has sandwiches and burgers, a reservation would be recommended. The Plaza is located facing towards the castle, but there is quite a bit in the way between it and the castle. For a clear viewing of fireworks, you should be outside near the castle, central hub, or various other spots like in Frontierland or Fantasyland where you can see them. Disney offers a fireworks dessert party which is located on the Tomorrow Land Terrace.

Depending on if you have the right vantage point, you can see the fireworks from California Grill which is at the Contemporary or Narcoosee's at the Grand Floridian.

We avoided "Tony's" for a while based on the bad reviews. We decided to try it and we had a good dining experience. We did have to wait about 20 minutes to be seated, but after that, the food and service was good.

No view, and we really enjoy our meals here. We've been here many times so it's definitely not a fluke either. We like to make our reservation for a late lunch, around 2:30 pm, so we can watch the parade from our table or right after we eat on the porch.

We liked Tony’s. We last went as a walk-in for lunch right when the opened. Loved the Lady and the Tramp decor and we shared two flatbreads/pizzas. We had a nice quiet meal and felt rested after. I didn’t notice the food was horrible or anything

I've eaten at Tony's with the FoF package and will be having lunch there again next month. It's definitely not the best Italian that I've ever had but it's not like I'm missing much by choosing Tony's over Liberty Tree. I prefer not to leave the parks to eat and nothing in the MK (I've tried them all.) has ever wowed me. Jungle Skipper is my go-to but Tony's is an acceptable alternative IMHO.

I had the Caesar Salad, Shrimp Scampi and Tiramisu. The salad was fairly basic but also very fresh. The scampi definitely benefited from a healthy dash of black pepper but was full of plump, decently cooked shrimp. The tiramisu was one of the better desserts I had that week.

I took advice from here and avoided the red sauce. It could have been my very low expectations but I was pleasantly surprised by my meal and loved the reserved parade viewing area.

Sorry, there is no view of the castle at all from Tony's...and the food is widely considered the worst on all of WDW property.
I agree with this statement, its the WORST restaurant in disney world. Really horrid food that I wouldn't recommend to anyone. Its their marinara sauce. Its so bad. BTW no, you cannot see the castle at all from Tony's.

This review of Tony's is very accurate btw. Take a look at the 50 minute mark:

I had spaghetti with red sauce and it tasted fine.

My son had that dish...which I tasted....and it was horrible. My advice to anyone eating there is to stay away from anything with marinara sauce. As i said, this review nails it.

Everyone has their own tastes and opinions of whats good and bad. Many of the restaurants people on these forums rave about I find bland. Why? One reason perhaps is because many are from areas of the country that focus on simpler food dishes, the basic bread, meat, potato meals. Often prefer meals without a lot of bold spices and flavors. They love that style of food and for them its the best. People rave about Liberty Tree, I find it meh. People rave about Teppan Edo, for me its one of the worst Teppan style restaurants I've been too. Point is, everyone has their own likes and dislikes. There is no WORST restaurant nor is there a BEST restaurant. Tony's is certainly not the best Italian but we've had good, fun meals every time. I've not cared for any of the Italian restaurants at Epcot or Boardwalk people love. Did love Portabello's but that has since closed. Heard the replacement is excellent but not on the dining plan.

If Tony's had a comment card from 1-10 rating the flavor of their sauce and even if by some luck they got a majority of 5's I would as a Disney owner look into other sauce supply companies to provide my sauce.

I get we all have different taste buds but okay and fine isn't a glowing review for a restaurant.

( My family has had a great time and even great photos on the front terrace there but it was because of the company, not the food.) My heart was happy but our tummys were sad lol

I've eaten here a couple of times. I know the reviews put it amongst the worst restaurants, but I didn't think it was terrible. It wasn't the best...I'd compare it to an Olive Garden basically. I've never had bad service there, but its basically as plain as it gets for Italian. If you're seated near the front around 5:00pm, you can see the flag retreat ceremony which is always nice. The Palace has great views of the castle or even better yet the waiting area has the best views. So if you can hold out and eat late, watch the fireworks on the porch of The Palace then eat there. It is a Winnie the Pooh character dining buffet experience however.

What was so bad about it?
It was the way the marinara sauce tasted. Very acidic and just gross. Even in my chicken parm, it was awful. I tried the meatball in my DS dish and i really didnt want to swallow it. It was that bad. The flavour in combination with the sauce was terrible. There's no other way to explain it.

It sounds like your still curious to try it. I encourage you to go and have a meal there. Who knows, you might like it.

I would never rate olive garden as poorly as Tony's. I like olive garden, and I couldnt stand the food at tony's.
