TOY STORY MANIA- das during no fp+ period PLEASE POST HERE

Hope to find out more soon.

They are still using the original exit, so could have guests using DAS Return Times enter there.
There is also a small room (maybe 10 x 10) right by the exit that could be used for a waiting spot as guests return.

Thanks sue.
Hopefully there'll be an update soon.
I'd really like to know in advance of our late April trip.

I asked a CM completing DAS return times yesterday....

He stated that yes, they would still be offering them BUT the rider must be able to transfer. Riders will enter through the exit.

That is disappointing to us, since our daughter can’t transfer and we need to use the wheelchair car.
I can see why that might not be possible though.

The only queue inside the building that is currently being used is the old Fastpass line. The ‘main’ line goes straight ahead to the stairs. There is also a ramped bypass to the right just before the stairs for guests who need to avoid the stairs.
The ramp leads to a waiting area with a small track that can be opened to allow ride cars to bypass the regular track and be pulled off to allow boarding for guests who need extra time to board. There is a ‘parking area’ for guests who are transferring to leave their mobility device; the parking area leads to the same exit as other guests use.

Because the cars are pulled out of the regular line, it doesn’t matter how long the guest needs to board. When the track is closed, cars on the regular track continue as usual. But, opening and closing the track bypass takes about 45 seconds to a minute each time.
There is also a car that can have the seat removed to make space for a wheelchair in place of the seat. The whole ‘changeover’ and loading process takes about 5-6 minutes.

I can see why they may not want to use the track bypass or do the changeovers to switch to wheelchair access because of the amount of time that takes. Or, because the entrance to the ramp is still accessible from the queue that is open, they might only do wheelchair loading for guests waiting in the regular line.

Because that area is accessible from the exit, they could still use the area to park wheelchairs from DAS users who transferred to a regular car.

Please post updates to how DAS is working at Toy Story Midway Mania on this thread so we can keep all the information in one thread.

Hi - I just got back from my trip and I did have a DAS return time for Toy Story Mania. We entered through the fastpasss line with the DAS and we were directed a different way from the others. I guess we were entering the exit? It took a really long time on line, longer than the regular line would have, because only every few cars was loaded with those waiting in our line. People had to transfer, at least every single person ahead of us did transfer so it appeared that way. It was a very long wait due to the way they were operating this.

As was already mentioned, it will be changing on April 12 (about) because the Fastpass line did not close as originally scheduled on April 7.

Did the area look like this and did you go up a ramp to get to it?
That is/was the accessible boarding area.

Reports today (4/13) on the TPAS forum indicate FP+ is available again today. Construction is still delayed.

Hoping Friday the 13th will bring some new info!! :jumping1:
This is your lucky day.
We rode Toy Story Mania on April 11, 2018 using DAS.
That was the scheduled last day of Fastpass and also the last day of using the accessible boarding area for wheelchair access for guests who are not able to transfer.
We were told the same as a previous poster - DAS will still be available and DAS users will enter thru the exit.
Guests will need to be able to transfer since the wheelchair accessible ride car will not be in use.

We were told that the beginning date of ‘no Fastpass’ was subject to change; they were going day by day, depending on whether the construction was ready for the step that required it to close.

At the time we went, the ride was operating with a Fastpass line that went across the front of the building toward a door further down on the side of the building (green line on photo).
That door entered directly into a short line that led into what used to be the Fastpass line. The Standby waiting area went across the outside of the building from the other direction (red line on building) and entered the same door, taking turns with the Fastpass line.
That will change after Fastpass is no longer offered.
My guess is that guests in the Standby line will continue to use that entrance when Fastpass is no longer an option. Since we had a wheelchair, we were directed to the same accessible ramp that bypasses the stairs. My guess is that guests who need to avoid the stairs will probably still use that bypass and could park mobility devices there, but would move on thru down the line and get into their vehicle from the exit side.
Doing that would avoid having to open the track to pull a vehicle into the accessible loading area - they might still do that, but each time they open the track to pull a car into or out of that area uses about 1 minute.
We already saw backups, they were only allowing a few people to go up the stairs at a time. That will likely slow down even more.
We entered the Fastpass line about 2:30 and got to the point where we entered the ramped wheelchair area about 2:45. The ramp was pretty full, so we didn’t move for a while. I could see that the CMs allowed a group of guests to go up the stairs about every 5-6 minutes. The group in line right behind us entered the stairs at 2:50.
Our wait in the accessible area was very long and we did not finish riding until after 3:30.

Confused. Since no FP times had thought no DAS return times until they get things squared away.

Are we thinking a DAS holder would just enter the regular line & state their needs, then hopefully be directed to proper area?

In general, attractions that don’t have Fastpass and a Standby Line don’t give out DAS Return Times.
This is a temporary exception and they WILL BE giving out DAS Return Times while the Fastpass line is closed.
The Standby Wait Times will likely be high during this time when tracks are closed.

DAS provides that the guest can wait outside of the line for a period of time roughly equal to the Standby Wait (minus 10 minutes).
If you need something other than what DAS provides, you need to talk to the CMs at the attraction (because anything other than waiting outside of the line is not part of DAS). This is the same at all attractions.

Slowly comprehending, sorry, I am particularly dense today it seems

My understanding for this temporary situation is: if holding a DAS then, you will approach & still ask a CM for a return time, even though no waittimes will actually be listed?

That’s OK, keep asking.

There WILL be wait times listed. The only line open will be the Standby (regular) line. The wait time listed will be for the Standby Wait.

Guests with DAS Return Times normally use the Fastpass line to enter attractions. Since the Fastpass line will be closed, people with DAS Return Times will temporarily enter thru the exit.
