Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

Does Stormalong Bay play annoying loud music poolside all day in the summer? If not all day, what hours do they typically do this? We will need to avoid the pool during these hours due to a noise sensitive autistic kid, so just want to know in advance when we should avoid the pool. If it's all day, I guess we will have to use those wax ear plugs for swimming.

I am not sure of the hours when you will encounter music at the activities area of the pool, I guess I haven't really paid attention. The slide comes out near the activities area, so you would hear the music if you are using that. I think that there are areas of Stormalong Bay where you would not hear the music. Help me out people- I can't remember hearing the music from the lazy river- is that correct?

I agree with this! When the music was playing, it seemed to be closer to pool nearest to the slide exit area. That is also the same area where they do the kids’ pool activities. One day, we enjoyed the lawn chairs closest to the yacht club (in the shade) and I don’t remember hearing any music way over there. Maybe I just didn’t notice it but I remember it being pretty peaceful.

Hmm, I haven't ever paid attention to the solarium activities. I'm assuming the "design your own wine glass or tumbler" is for adults too? I'd love to do that. And maybe the pillow too. I don't want to be the only dorky adult there tho!

Think that's true Dee however we found that the kiddie area was lovely and peaceful except when the kids pool party was on. Then it was really loud and annoying (to us) as the DJ shouted out trivia questions and instructions to the kids taking part. We avoided that area when at all possible. There is a little sandy area with loungers on it that back onto the slide, that is far enough away to be peaceful even when things are happening at the pool volleyball area :)

I just looked at the past few monthly calendars. The resort has really been upping the arts & crafts game. In December it was decorate a holiday ornament. Since the beginning of the year, Solarium activities have included ceramics, decorating a wine glass/tumbler and making a vacation pillow. They have also had Wii games and family board games.

Yes, I assume the wine glass (and the other activities) are for the whole family, but I haven't heard any feedback from anyone who has participated.

:goodvibes

That's interesting. Some of the Disney Deluxe Resorts have Disney Vacation Club sections which have Community Halls. You can play games and do arts & crafts in the Community Halls, whether or not you are a DVC member. Beach Club Villas does not have a Community Hall. I wonder if a decision was made to do some activities in the Solarium which are similar to activities which can be done in the Community Halls of some Deluxe Resorts.

Animal Kingdom Lodge, Boardwalk & Contemporary have Community Halls.
Grand Floridian does not.
Wilderness Lodge does not, but they are doing something different by having what is like a concierge lounge which DVC members can pay to use.
Not sure about the Poly.
Old Key West and Saratoga Springs Resort also have Community Halls.

I opted for a CL YC room during our up coming split stay as well as the DxDP for this part of our stay.
Reasons?
1) I want to know what a club level room is like for a later adult only trip and hope the experience is more in line with similar costing rooms outside the bubble...
You might want to ask if that’s even possible on the CL thread. Not to damper your day but -in my very limited knowledge & BC CL experience- Disney’s CL experiences come absolutely nowhere close to their price equivalents outside the bubble. Like, I really don’t know much but that specifically is a complaint I have seen in reviews for most all Disney CLs over the years (even on both coasts!) really encourage you to check the CL thread- very knowledgeable people over there who might be able to provide more complete perspectives on this.
ETA: def get the breakfast thing, outside of CL breakfast is SUCH a hassle to me too :)

We just got back from our Easter trip. We had another great time. Easter is my absolute favorite holiday at WDW. The BC/YC really goes all out with the activities. We participated in most of them today. They started off with the candy scramble completely with confetti cannons. Then they did the golden egg hunt, which was a giant savenger hunt all over the resort. You had to be really knowledgeable about the resort to understand the clues. Then they did a regular egg hunt on the beach. Marie was out most of the morning with very short lines. The last thing of the morning was the carnival. It was cute but a bit unorganized. For instance, there was a game layed out and a CM was there but when I asked, oh...what do you do here? He said, I don't know. We are still figuring it out. Many things were just being set up 30 min after starting. Also, new this year, some things cost money. This was not the case last year. I thought some things were pretty steep, like decorating a cookie. You got a small sugar cookie and chose an icing color, then you could put like 5 different toppings on it and it was $3 or 1 token. Other games were free and gave out nice prizes so we didn't see the need to buy tickets. All in all we had a great stay, can't wait to do it again next year.

I'm seriously considering an Easter trip next year. We've never been during a major holiday so I am kind of nervous. I'm so glad to read that you can have a great time even if it is busy! Thanks for posting! :goodvibes

We recently got back from BCV and we always use Stormalong Bay as our last day before our flight. This trip was the same, and for the last two years, we used the new showers and they've been great. However, they don't have hair dryers in them, so I asked the pool manager if she could supply one on my last day. She was so kind, and left one at the lifeguards chair for me and said she will put in an order for them to be installed on the walls. She told me if a guest is asking, they usually comply. My question is to anyone that is recently returning, have you noticed if they followed thru with this? And for those that are going in the next month or so, could you please take notice and come back and report here? Thanks so much!

Just bumping this. Is anyone recently visited, that can answer this?

We have had incredible week at the Beach Club!! Thanks to the moderator(s) of this board for providing so much information about this wonderful hotel!! Dee, I will email you pictures of our room view and the interior of our room once we are back at home. Sadly, we must check out today. We will definitely come back and stay at this resort again!

I have an extra case of water bottles (24 unopened) from our Safeway order! I ordered four cases and that was more than we needed Is anyone, currently at the beach club who would like to have some water ? If so reply for noon and we can leave them at the bellhop with your name or room number on them!

Also, If anyone has any questions about the resort and what might be happening currently this week, I’m happy if anyone has any questions about the resort and what might be happening currently this week, I’m happy to help answer!

Someone, recently, asked about whether a case of water was available for purchase in the BC marketplace and the only water I saw were eight packs of the smaller size bottles ( these bottles are only 12 ounces each) of Dasani for $3.99. We ordered cases of 24 bottles of water (16.9 ounces each) from Safeway for $2.99 each. I hope that helps someone in their planning.

I would be happy to post pictures of our room & the resort once I figure out how to post pics on these boards I will work on that when we return home this week!

I hope everyone has a great Easter week!

How did you like the Safeway order? We are trying to figure out what to do. It’s either rent a car for a day and get everything we need...toiletries water and some food or order from somewhere and I have been looking at Safeway.

The Safeway order was excellent! We arranged for a delivery with a one hour window. The delivery driver texted me when he had arrived at Beach club and was unloading the groceries. I met him at the bellhop and showed my license (we had wine included) and signed for the order. The prices were good, the service was professional, and would recommend them. Included in the order, we also had items such as shampoo and conditioner, hand sanitizer, and some basic cleaning supplies. The prices were very competitive and it was nice to have these things delivered instead of packing them in our luggage.

Has anyone here done a split stay and had groceries transferred? I would just do 2 separate orders but since it's just DH and I we never can order enough to make it worth it. This time we're getting a car service and doing a grocery store stop on our way to POP, then transferring to BC later in the week. Will Bell Services transfer our cold groceries (like milk), and a case of water along with our luggage?
