If you look at the pages for the individual resorts, the parking fee is still listed. This is on the Riverside page.

Effective for new reservations made March 21, 2018 and thereafter, standard overnight self-parking is available to registered Guests for a fee of $19 per night (sales tax included).

oh ok I bet it will change back on march 21st then

IMO either the resort pages aren't up to date or someone in WDW's IT has made a monumental screw up.
The Main Parking page has said, for the last forty eight hours, that the fees were taking effect and would begin on 3/21/18.
Now it states;
Resort Hotels
Standard self-parking at Resort hotels is complimentary for Resort Guests. Valet parking is available at select Disney Deluxe Resorts for $25 per day.

Yesterday evening, the web page was reverted to the “complimentary parking” bit for about 2 hours. So this go-around, it’s been closer to 4 hours. Hoping it’s permanent! :)

#1...thank goodness for DVC...for at the moment, we still get free parking. Just another incentive to go DVC, which I belive in the coming years will be the only way to afford a Disney vacation.

#2...it is a crowd control scheme. for every 1 person who says that's it, we are not going to Disney.....there will be 10 people who gladly pay the fees. crowds get smaller, and revenue stay up.

#3...it is supply and demand. if enough people say no, fees go away. but we all know Disney is operating from a position of strength here.

#4....for those who say they have to save years for a trip to Disney and now can't afford it. truly I am sorry, but it is not your right that you get to go to Disney. Disneys job is to make shareholders money 1st. Just like everyone can't afford a high end German car and have to buy a cheaper more affordable car, vacations are the same thing. Not everyone can afford 2 weeks in Hawaii, and not Disney is one of those high end vacations. either find a way to save more money, or go on cheaper vacations to Dollywood. But Disney is now an even more high end vacation then ever before.

Yeah we were hopeful for nothing. The resorts still clearly show paid parking beginning March 21st. Maybe they think we're dumb enough to not look there, and that by reverting their main page they can help the outrage die down some.

Are they hurting for cash and have to nickel and dime all day now? I dont understand. They raise prices on hotels always, and food and tickets.

If they were going to reverse the decision, they would make a big deal about announcing it saying how the listened to their customers and reacted etc.

Maybe... but Disney’s MO seems to be to do things with a splash and undo quietly later if needed.

Not sure they’d view it as smart to essentially tell people “if you complain enough online we’ll back down” — not these days where this is so easy to do.

Guess we’ll see...

They are only make 24% profit on the parks. Not nearly enough for Iger and co to be able to afford summer homes on Mars when they use their golden parachutes.

Seriously though, parking fees are probably close to 100% profit since they were paying for parking lot maintenance out of resort room prices before anyway. Win for Disney and the head of parks will probably get a large bonus for it.

1. DVC has been quite a bit more expensive per room per night than non -DVC at the same resort. Maybe parking fees have already been built in to the room price? DVC already pays for parking fees through their annual dues, and the only reason Disney is not charging for parking for them is because they can’t yet find a legal way to do so. I’ll bet annual dues will go up, though. And DVC members will still have to deal with the validation and time limitations that will now be at resorts when they visit other resorts.

2. This is different than crowd control. They can raise ticket prices for crowd control. The parks are the issue when it comes to crowds. The resorts Are not usually overcrowded, and it is not in Disney’s interest at all to have empty resort rooms.

3. I agree. But their strength is weakening with every move like this. They won’t be king forever. Guest loyalty is huge, and Disney has to realize that it can be lost.

4. I agree with your point. However, it’s important to note that this is not a cost issue for many of us who are angry. It is a principle. Parking fees at resorts are just wrong. They are deceitful and unnecessary and not optional for people who drive. By implementing these fees and keeping DME free, Disney is snubbing those who live within driving distance and forcing them to supplement the vacations of those who fly and use DME. Before, we all got a benefit. No longer. You didn’t see a thousand posts within a few days when resort rates went up quite a bit more than $24 per night. The cost, though significant, is not the big biggest issue here for a lot of people.

Seriously, that's what I do. I'm not driving 18+ hours with only a child, in my leased vehicle so I fly. I know people talk about the "dirt cheap" car rental rates in Orlando but I'm just not seeing it I guess. Maybe it's when I choose to travel or the fact I do not want to travel very far from the airport or trust a company I've never heard of. As long as my uber/lyft fares stay under $450 per vacation, I'll stick with them.
We got a nice sedan for 19 a day at MCO. Same class of vehicle was 62 at LAX last summer. You would need a lot of days rented to get to 450. May want to look at rentals again.

Question about DVC concerning the post from mickyminniemom. It states that DVC is still going to be complimentary for DVC Deluxe Villa guests. Is that ALL room types
including the DVC studios or just the 1 BRM, 2 BRM and Grand villas? Most of our trips involve using the studio size rooms. Second: So a person has a dinner reservation at a specific resort, are they going to be required to pay the parking fee just to eat dinner?

Sorry if this has been asked, but what if you have a larger room and share. Grandparents are local, DS is from PA and DD is from TX, everybody drove. Is it X amount per room or per car?
