NEWS 5/17: Late 2019 itineraries released - link in post #1 (2020 watch thread will start soon)

Anyone care to venture a per person cost for the 11 night Iceland/Norway cruise? We would be looking at booking a veranda and an inside cabin. I checked the price thread from last year but didn’t really see a comparable price quote- unless I missed it. Thanks for any wild guesses!:)

Try the Touring Plans Fare Tracker https://touringplans.com/disney-cruise-line/tools/fare-tracker. Select the ship, itinerary and date and you can then track the pricing over time for a particular cabin category and passenger configuration. It's a great tool. Sometimes it's a little tough sorting through the itineraries and dates to find what you want, but it's there. Just keep looking.

I'm sorry but you're single with no kids. Don't you think your being a little insensitive to the families that can't afford it. There are many DCL European cruises that I bet you couldn't afford either. I think you need to walk back that statement.
What? Not sure how I’m being insensitive? I chose not to have kids so I can afford to go on cruises and do more stuff I want. They chose to have kids and end up getting priced out. It’s all about choices.

What in the world are you talking about? There was nothing wrong — or unusual— about that post. People complain about Disney prices. Kids or no kids. And there are much cheaper cruise lines that also cater to families. I don’t see how sensitivity is a factor.

That’s the one I have my eye on. I’m hoping it’ll be $7500 for 3 people on a verandah. But I think that’s wishful thinking. I have a placeholder ready for Monday!

Calling people criers because their complaining about the prices I find insensitive. Sadly a lot of people that enjoyed DCL have been priced out.

I seriously can't believe you said that. I don't think people considered DCL cruise prices when they made the decision to have kids. I would much rather have my kids then cruise on DCL. A lot of families are getting priced out. They are not criers. It's a reality. Don't worry we'll be fine there's plenty of options out there.

Has anyone else noticed that they labeled Akeryuri as Norway instead of Iceland? So with that correction, they will be in Iceland for three days, not two.
This is how they have done it in the past. It is a full day with an overnight and then a half day before moving on.

In 2016 we paid $6000 for 2 adults in a 10C (deluxe inside Deck 2) for a Northern European itinerary. It would've been about $7500 to add a third to the cabin. Not to be a downer, but if that is the budget you are wanting to stick to, that is probably what it will get you. We're also going to book that cruise, I'm hoping it will be around $6500 for 2 adults in a 10C again.

No but I considered how life in general is more affordable when you are a family of 2. Nothing wrong with having kids I just prefer to not have them for reasons like this. They cry and complain every year that prices go up. Every year prices always go up. Disney is a business first and always was. They act like Walt would have let them in out of the goodness of his heart. Disney’s Park prices are normally on par with what other theme parks offer. As far as dcl goes when you are the most sought after you can charge what you want. As you said people can go else where.

You probably didn’t decide about kids “for reasons like this”. You just didn’t want kids, and that’s great. If you wanted to have kids, then the price of cruises wouldn’t factor in at all to your choice. While you should consider whether you could afford to feed your kids, having kids isn’t a business decision for most.

Maybe you hadn't noticed, but DCL caters to kids first and foremost. If your decision to not have kids was dictated by the ability to afford DCL.... then that's pretty sad. DCL is not worth that.

I think this is getting a bit heated... can we not argue about personal choices about having kids and financial ramifications of that...? I think it's outside the scope of this thread and it's getting closer to sounding like personal attacks.

Yes complete stranger clearly you know exactly why I decided not to have kids.

I didn’t bring it up someone else did but i have zero issue defending my choices. I’m still not sure how me not having kids has anything to do with the original comment I made.

The word you are looking for is kid at heart and children don’t have any money. As I said before I would rather spend my money on me and my so and not a child. Not having kids does mean I can continue to enjoy Disney world abd and dcl long after others get “priced out.”

If these dates don’t work out I’m hoping they do a December one with dates that work for school break so maybe we can do an anniversary cruise. I haven’t done Xmas season on the ships yet but Halloween was pretty cool.

One thing I wanted to mention that is new (or relatively new?):

If you are a DVC Member, but first time cruiser, you can book at the same time as the Silver Castaway Club Members (March 7).

Also, if you are a Golden Oak (Disney's high end residential community at WDW, not sure if we have any of those here on the DIS...) resident, you can book at the same time as the Platinum Castaway Club Members.

Ok now I'm caught up. Any idea if the August 26 Alaska (which was traditionally cheaper than earlier in August) will be more now because it includes Icy Strait Point? I also see that Juneau is the same day as Tracy Arm... assuming it will be a short day in Juneau...
For those that have been, does Juneau deserve a full day? Am I wrong to think having both on one day will make it for a hectic day?
I'm also looking at Aug 12 or 19 "regular" 7 night Alaska.
I wonder if adding an extra port day to the Aug26 sailing was done to justify charging more for a time they normally charged less....?
Like with SWDAS. Prior to SWDAS, Jan/Feb Fantasy sailings were the cheapest... we scored amazing deals on them. Hasn't been the case since they have special days at sea... it's like Disney takes slower, less popular times, adds some twists and then charges more...
Hope this is not the case with the "modified" 7n Alaska ... any ideas? Who else is looking at Alaska?

I have been waiting on Alaska dates so looking at either 19th or 26th August sailing - we’ve done it before so the twist to the 26th appealed to me and works better for my dates as planning on 10 days or so before in Canada but not sure what impact that will have on cost? Do you think it would bump up the price? I’ve seen some poor reviews on icy straight point too - what to do??!!! Does anyone know If the reservation number to call is different when calling from the UK?

We’re looking at the 6 night western over July 4th week.

It doesn’t look like Disney has done this itenerary before (at least not in the last couple of years).

Not sure how I feel about Costa Mesa. Anyone have any experience there?

Also it’s hard to get a good idea what the price point will be. Our other option would be the 4 night double dip. I’m hoping the 6 night is not too much more expensive so we can get all of our travel companions on the same page!
