But I don't have anyone to supervise me- a mostly solo November 2017 TR *completed 9/10*

I hope you and DS5 didn't end up getting sick!

I can't believe how much you accomplished on your DHS morning!

This is great! It looks like he's holding you down from flying away with those balloons!

Day 2: Part 2
You Cannot Eat all the Food

For the first time, we were taking the boat over to Epcot.

The CM pointed out that a bald eagle was sitting on top of the Swan hotel.

You can’t really tell, but it was cool because I have never seen a bald Eagle in the “wild”. On the boat ride over I was starting to feel really sick to my stomach. I have a history of getting sea sick, so I don’t know if it was that in combination with the fact that I was so hungry. Then someone start chewing the smelliest peppermint gum, which was making it worse. I could not get off that boat fast enough. All I had had to eat was one Mickey waffle almost 4 hours before, so I just needed something in my stomach I think. Once we were back on dry land, I felt slightly better, but I needed food fast. We entered via the International Gateway and walked toward the front of the World Showcase. Joe and I split up, because the lines were already getting long at the booths. Joe went to Hawaii and got the Kalua Pork Slider with Sweet and Sour DOLE® Pineapple Chutney and Spicy Mayonnaise and Florida Orange Groves Sparkling Pineapple Wine.

Joe liked both, but this is where I realized that my sense of taste was nonexistent due to the cold, so my reviews won’t matter much. I got the fried chicken and cider flight from Farm Fresh.

The cider flight was good, we especially liked the reddish one. They did not tell us which was which, so I assume it was the raspberry one, but really who knows:confused3. The chicken tasted like chicken and waffles and was surprisingly good. Next we went over to the walkway leading to Future World and stopped at Food and Wine to get the cheese trio.

Trio of Artisan Cheese Fromager Affirois de Excellence served with toasted Baguette, Point Reyes Original Blue served with Apricot Jam, Point Reyes Toma served with Honey.

I loved this so much, it was the prefect combo of nice strong cheese, sweet, and crunch. It was probably my favorite thing from the festival.

Nice view to go with our cheese

We also got Liquid Nitro Chocolate-Almond Truffle with Warm Whiskey-Caramel.

This just tasted like chocolate mousse, I couldn’t taste the caramel at all, and there were almost no almonds in it. We forgot to take a picture of this one.
We were still hungry so we then went over to Active Eats and got the Loaded Mac ‘n’ Cheese with Nueske’s Pepper Bacon, Cheddar Cheese, Peppers and Green Onions and Sweet Avocado Crema with Strawberries, Yellow Cake and Tortilla Streusel.

The mac and cheese was such a letdown, as I was most looking forward to this. It wasn’t very cheesy and was overpowered by the bacon. The Avocado dish was amazing though. It was such a shock to us, but it tasted similar to strawberry shortcake only 100X better. At this point, I was not full but certainly satisfied, so I had to pull Joe away from the food booths. There was so much that he wanted to try and I had to be no fun and remind him that he could not, in fact, eat it all. Lines were really too long to do anything until our fastpasses were available, so we walked over to the festival center. We passed the Jammitors or whatever cutesy F&W festival name they had and we stopped to watch for a little bit.

Kind of sad I never got to do this

We had never been to the festival center, so I was curious to check it out.

We grabbed our AP pins and looked at the merchandise. Joe noticed there was a Cutco knives demonstration booth setup and he had to take a picture to send to his brother who used to sell those knives door-to-door. We also had to get our free Ghirardelli chocolate and check out the chocolate sculptures.

Free chocolate!

r

We took our time looking around some more.

When we left I found a secluded area and switched out my shoes. My sneakers were giving me blisters and I had thankfully packed my Sanuk sandals in our bag for this reason. Our first FP was ready to be used at the Character Spot.

Mickey and Goofy were quick meets.

oops eyes closed on this picture :sad2:

I had to get a selfie with Mickey to send to my friend on Snapchat. She and her daughter had been enjoying my snaps but she wanted to know where Mickey was.

Minnie went to find a bow for Daisy and when she came back she was quite sassy. She pulled Mickey and Goofy backstage and then went to Mickey’s spot to entertain the guests waiting over there until Mickey and Goofy came back. When she came back she again wanted talk about getting engaged. It sounds like Mickey really needs to put a ring on it already:rotfl:.

We still had so much more to fit in before Joe had to go back home.

I'm so sad to hear that the mac 'n' cheese was such a letdown! That would have been the thing I'd want to try! :(

The chocolate sculptures are all so amazing. It's hard to believe they can do that with chocolate... I don't think I'd seen pictures of the Wreck it Ralph one before, and it's great!

So glad to hear you didn't get sick! It's so hard to avoid it this time of year, especially once someone in the house gets sick...

He keeps me "grounded" :rotfl:

LOL :lmao:

well if you don't like cheesy mac, you might still like it

I know it was in awe of them all.

Thanks its been a rough year for us, someone has at least had a cold since August, it's been exhausting.

This pair of dorks went to Peco Bills for some actual dinner. We really like this quick service, it’s probably our favorite even though it’s gets no love.
We haven't been to Pecos Bills in YEARS, but I love pretty much every nacho I've gotten everywhere in the World so I should really get back there. I just always forget about it since the family prefers CHH for qs but will try to remember to try it in March.

I just thought it was okay. I loved Wishes so much, to me it was timeless and moving, and the perfect way to end a magical day at the Magic Kingdom. I think HEA lacks any real heart. It relies to heavily on the projections, has no discernable storyline, and I am sorry but I cannot get behind the music.
:worship: I am SO with you! And not many people are lol. Seems the majority love HEA or at least like it as much as they liked Wishes. I've only watched it once from inside the park and then once from the Pirates and Pals cruise and while I do still love the actual fireworks, I don't care for the projections and don't like the music, especially the written just-for-HEA music. I'm debating watching it from inside MK in March again since the boys have only seen it from the lagoon but...............they probably won't care either way

So I have a little bit to jump on and do another update. We had a crazy Christmas, everyone of the 11 people that we had staying for the holidays has gotten the flu except me and DS5
Oh no! I did read above that you and DS5 never got it so that's good. The stomach bug is running rampant on our schools here now :crazy2:

They were for the passholder preview of the Sunset Greetings, so I got one.
Still pissed I was there and missed this.

I really only needed one shirt for that night’s passholder event, but bought two.

You can’t really tell, but it was cool because I have never seen a bald Eagle in the “wild”
Yeah but, it was still going to be the season when you got home and Disney Xmas tops aren't just for Disney!

I got the fried chicken and cider flight from Farm Fresh.
We loved both the cider flight and fried chicken :goodvibes

You definitely should, it's underrated in my opinion

Its been a bad year for us, we've been constantly sick :sad1:

Still pissed I was there and missed this.
I was hoping we could meet up at the event, but at least you can live it through me when I get to that part :thumbsup2

Yeah but, it was still going to be the season when you got home and Disney Xmas tops aren't just for Disney!
I wore them all the time, kinda still do even though it's January :confused3

We loved both the cider flight and fried chicken :goodvibes
From what I could taste it was good, I even went back for more cider later in the week.

Day 2: Part 3
Where did Spaceship Earth Go?

Spaceship Earth only had a 15 minute wait so we went there next.

Bubblegum Wall Photo is a must

Our second FP of the day was for Test Track. There was a guy in front of with this awesome Powerline t-shirt.

Shirt stalking pic :rotfl2:

I ended up seeing them all over the place during the trip. I was obsessed with the Goofy Movie growing up and I wanted the shirt, but never asked anyone where they got it. Well on Black Friday I was browsing Target’s website and it was on sale for $8, so of course I snagged it:thumbsup2. I let Joe design the car, because I really don’t like this part.

He made it pink, he says for me. Our car ended up winning, which Joe was very pleased about. He even had to take a picture of his overall score after the ride.

Yay for the pink car! :car:

We still had time before our next FP and didn’t want to leave the area, so we had some fun taking pictures in the post ride area, which I do not know what happened to those photos:confused3. We also got our driver’s license, in the photo booth, again don't know where these are:confused:. We went into Mouse Gears to look around. Joe wanted the shirt he had seen at the hotel the day before, but now couldn’t find it. We ended up leaving empty handed, I wish I could say that for the next time I went in there though. We had out last FP to use at Mission Space. Orange made Joe feel ill last time, and with green getting a new mission, we went that route.

It was okay, not particularly thrilling, but I didn’t expect it to be. I think it will be fun to ride with the boys though. Joe noticed his name outside the ride, still has our old address though oops.

Having done most of what we wanted in Future World, we headed back to the World Showcase.

First up a ride on the Three Caballeros.

After our quest to find Donald, we were starting to get really hungry. Joe wanted to stop at a food booth, but we had an ADR coming up, so I steered him away. In an effort to forget our hunger we went into the American Adventure and just missed Voices of Liberty. This group has be on my must see list for at least three trips, but somehow I never make it. Instead we went to see the show. Joe was excited to see it, he didn’t remember it from May 2015 and he loves history.

Joe was nodding off by the middle of the show:rotfl2:. When the show let out, Joe suddenly remembered why he didn’t remember the show. We still had about 30 minutes before our dinner, so killed time walking around the Italy pavilion. I wanted a picture of us, as we hadn’t gotten one yet in Epcot, so we stopped and tried to get a selfie with Spaceship Earth. Only when we tried we couldn’t find SE in our picture. Basically the sky was very cloudy and it washed out SE, so you couldn’t see it. We literally sat there like idiots moving the phone back and forth, adjusting our heads trying to find Spaceship Earth:rotfl:.

When we finally resigned ourselves not getting a good photo, we look to the left and see a PP out.

Hey we found SE!

We walked around some more and time seemed to be dragging on so slowly.

About 20 minutes before our ADR we tried to check in.

Thankfully it was no problem at all and we were seated within a few minutes of checking in.

We opted to get some garlic focaccia bread to start.

It was very dry and not very garlicky, but we were hungry enough to finish it. For our entrees, Joe got the pepperoni and I got the Carciofi, a white pizza with artichokes, fontina, mozzarella, and truffle oil.

This was so yummy. Typically when I have something with truffle oil, it’s all you can taste pretty much. This pizza must have had just the tiniest amount, so that you still got the flavor, without it overpowering and taking over the whole thing. Or maybe I was just sick and couldn't really taste it :confused3 either way it was delicious. The one thing I will say about this was there wasn’t a lot of cheese, and there was a lot of crust, so I wish they did that a little bit better, but the flavor was amazing.

Sadly, with dinner over, it was time to head out of the park, to take Joe to the airport. We took our sweet time walking out, taking lots of pictures along the way. In America, Joe grabbed a Mickey bar, as he had to have one more.

We stopped in France to get a picture, they had a cute frame at this location and I wanted one last picture. We stood in line for about 10 minutes and it was finally our turn the PP CM informs us that he is done for the night. I was crushed, also pretty mad, but really just sad. I did not want Joe to leave and I really wanted one more picture. I also felt like this could have been handled so much better. He could have cut off the line when he knew it was getting close to the end of his shift and informed the line, so we didn’t stand around waiting for no reason. We walked out of Epcot, and took the Friendship boats back to DHS, where our car was.

Joe drove back to MCO, while I got ready for the DHS holiday preview in the car. I said goodbye to Joe and then drove a very depressing ride back to Disney.

We had had such an amazing weekend together and I was also nervous about being alone for the rest of the week. I am in general an introvert, I absolutely love being alone. But being alone at WDW, in my mind, wasn’t going to be an enjoyable alone time. I would be alone, but surrounded by thousands of people who were not alone and (mostly) having fun with their loved ones. I was afraid I would be lonely. I had always had this fear going into this trip, and then adding Joe on to the front end, just exacerbated that, because I was with someone and that contrasted with being alone made it seem worse. Hopefully I could turn it around for the rest of my evening.

Haha-I did the same thing! I think I fell asleep somewhere around prohibition...

That's just so not cool! It's not like he didn't see a line forming and couldn't stop people from getting in it! Or could have just taken one shot, rather than a bunch.

I am definitely an introvert too, but I am actually looking forward to my next solo trips. The first time I went to Disneyland alone it felt so weird (even though I knew I was meeting my sister later that day), and I was so self-conscious. But over time it's become more natural and I just go with it! I'm not going to lie, sometimes I can have a touch of loneliness, but then I realize I'm at Disney and can do whatever I want!

Your faces in this photo are excellent!

Aww man, I'm sorry you missed them again!

Cool shades! :cool2:

What!? This is so frustrating! Surely he could have taken one more photo, or cut off the line before you guys waited or something. That's disappointing.

I hope you had fun for your alone time, even if you were worried about it.

Great day in Epcot, but definitely must have been hard with Joe having to head home. Oh well, you still get a little more Disney time. Can't wait to hear about your solo adventures!

Sounds like a fun afternoon in Epcot! Glad you guys could try a few things from the booth and had a nice dinner! I'm sure it was tough saying goodbye to Joe :(

Haha-I did the same thing! I think I fell asleep somewhere around prohibition...
:rotfl2:If I could sleep in public I probably would nap during this show

Why thank you

Aww man, I'm sorry you missed them again!
It’s okay maybe I see them later in the trip :rolleyes1

Cool shades! :cool2:
Thanks they have since broken

I did have fun, it wasn’t so bad being solo

More Disney time is worth it, and I did end up having fun even if I was alone

It was a great way to end that portion of the trip for sure.

Day 3: Part 4
It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

By the time I got back on Disney property, my mood had lifted slightly thanks to Sirius XM’s Pop2K station. Nothing like getting your spirits of to pop hits of your youth.

Had to get a picture of the actual entrance, we which almost never use
\

I got to the park right about 8:00, when it was closing for the day. I was curious to see how they were going to clear the park of day guests in just 30 minutes. This event ran from 8:30-9:30 for passholders only. It was a preview of the new Sunset Greetings show on Sunset Boulevard. They had ToT and RnR open, the QS on Sunset open selling the new holiday treats, and the ability to buy the Jingle Bell, Jingle Bam passholder shirt. Since I had a half hour before the event actually started, I walked down Sunset to get a couple of rides in. First RnR.

Then ToT.

After ToT, I had just enough time to find a spot on the street for the show.

It was such a fun atmosphere then. There were so many Disney bloggers there videoing, live streaming, taking pictures. This was the first preview event, so other than CMs we were literally the first to see this. Everyone was so excited and in good moods, it was so much fun. I always see this kind of things happen from afar and have to see them all over social media, as I am sure you guys do too. It was so exciting to actually be there and not having to watch or hear about it from home. Basically how it happens is a billboard, the one at the end of Sunset that advertises Fantasmic, changes to a screen and shows a little short thanks to the help of the elves from Prep and Landing.

Then once it’s over ToT transforms into something relating to that short and once that it over it snows on Sunset. This would happen every five minutes, I don’t know if this is how it was executed when it starting running normally, but with it running so often, it was easy to see all four and of course there’s lot of room to see and move around. The first short was like a Victorian Mickey one.

The second one was Toy Story.

Then Muppet’s Gingerbread.

The last was from Olaf’s Frozen Adventure. I didn’t know that at the time, but it is lifted straight from that short.

I thought the whole thing was very cute and well executed. The music Is loud and the projections distracting enough that you don’t even notice ToT running. On the flip side if you are riding ToT during the projections, it has little to no effect of the enjoyment of the ride, just maybe for a second when you are suspended with the doors open, but even then you really have to be looking for it. After I had seen all four shorts, I got in line for some special holiday treats. The line wasn’t long, but they took forever, I guess working out all the kinks. I opted to go for the hot chocolate flight, which has hot chocolate martini, Bailey’s Salted Caramel hot chocolate, black cherry bourbon hot chocolate and gingerbread pop.

The chocolates were, good but had a strong alcoholic taste.

The gingerbread I didn’t actually eat until I got home, and it was delicious, surprising soft as well. I went into Once Upon a time to try and find the passholder shirt, but had no luck. I did stop for a PP picture, my first solo one.

With still a half hour to go, I decided to see how many times I could get on ToT.

With no one in line, I took advantage of the opportunity to takes some photos.

The CMs this night were amazing as well. One told as jokes as we waited to go. Another told us the real reason they make you lift your hands (I always wondered). Every ride was half empty and we never had to sit through the preshow. It was a truly memorable night. So how many times did I get to ride??

I slowly made my way back down Sunset and it had been a pretty fantastic night, I have to say. I never really felt lonely expect when I sat down to have my hot chocolates.

I stopped in the store one more time and decided to ask a CM about the shirts. It was a very cute red hooded shirt, with Prep and Landing on the front and it said Passholder down the sleeve in a candy cane print. I have never seen Prep and Landing or Jingle Bell, Jingle Bam, but I liked it, so I bought it. It was way past closing and I was alone on Sunset (other than CMs) walking out.

When I got back to ASMo, I went into the gift shop to look for the Star Wars, The Last Jedi shirt he wanted. For whatever reason it was only sold there and maybe World of Disney, very weird:confused3. I also picked up a pack of water so I didn’t have to keep paying $3 a bottle. I also stopped in the food court and grabbed a salad. I spent the rest of the evening watching Stacy and getting caught up on my TR notes. The salad was not good, the lettuce was bad and I only was able to eat about a third of it before I gave up. I went to bed around 11, leaving me plenty of time to get a good night’s sleep for my big day the next day.

2000s pop hits are the best, always a mood lifter!

RnR and ToT look so empty in your ride photos!

Glad you were able to participate in the preview event. The show looks so fun and so awesome that you got to ride ToT a bunch!

::yes::

They were, I think it was just me and two other people on RnR, it was awesome.

Me too, it was an awesome night.

What is the reason? I'm dying to know! I googled it and nothing really comes up.
They make you do it so that if during the yellow strap pull you were secretly holding the slack in order to get a loose belt for more airtime, putting your hands up forces you to let go and the belt to tighten.

Sorry I have been MIA for awhile. Life has gotten crazy here. We took our trip to Disneyland at the beginning of the month and we had an amazing, but short time. Now I am getting into planning our big trip for the fall. But for now, I am back to update this TR.

Day 4: Part 1
4 Parks, 1 Day

I was able to sleep in slightly later, since I wasn’t going to an EMH park this morning. When I woke up, my throat was really killing me, but otherwise I was starting to feel better. I got my coffee at the food court and then got in line for the bus. Since I was doing a lot of park hopping today, taking the car didn’t make sense.

My first park of the day was DHS. We were let in early, but then held at the end of the street near Starbucks. A CM was talking to us, telling us the rules and then he told us that that day was the premier date of the original Mickey Mouse Club. He then led us in a rousing rendition of the opening and closing song before they finally let us in.

Having had my fill of ToT and RnR the night before, I went with the TSMM crowd. The line was already at about 15 minutes when we got there. I got my best score ever!! I then got in line for The Voyage of the Little Mermaid. I have never seen this show and LM is one of my favorite movies and princesses, so I was excited to see it. I really liked it. I know the lasers and whatever are old, but I thought it was a really cool effect and the effect of being under water.

As we were leaving a dad next to me said, “How much does Eric get paid, I want his job”. It’s especially funny because I was thinking the same thing:lmao:. Even though I had only been there an hour, I was ready to move on to my next park of the day. I walked around the park taking some pictures along the way out.
New taphouse

Who else is excited for Star Wars land

I loved all the decorations around Echo Lake

I took the boat over to Epcot and similar to the day before my stomach was not happy. Note to self: empty stomach and boat rides do not mix:sick:. I was also texting Su Lynn, hoping to meet up with her in Epcot. It ended up being perfect because she was in France, so we decided to meet up in the UK.

Spotting her was easy and we ended up having a very nice conversation about our trips and just Disney in general. We parted ways, but not before getting our picture.

xE-vikoQdVSSWB14wOn-n1e_NuqvUIbk2j30ESnJmGwYkxsfIwN2b8fVRZGFFVUzovrs6DHVJY3zMJU27fq13dHNgekEKbkY27wK6eiIvoQAhOfNTbczgcURg1HIYvDIbJGQ38dQzKG_v3H0h-gRTVO6Uw9eYXAK-ybdjxc2rt56sTMfeSPeJW7fH2QubWS3V30rPx9eru6Y8Rlg6Jyb4RAY02-B8vQKX-Ai1_Oaugu1Wq_2S4O-R_Y1DmxHQyy3fguWklinVKsCnm6KslzayMg9eCxz6TfaK9AwmuJrwje9nbq8sh4FHjm20zmLA6vyrq_LcqV5L95Nlui_17cYGJ6nWmxubXYwDrvI4wB_BPl8iEubFy7ra2eaXAYWyD0L1LLnMcnyPqJJDHs23J8e8dk5JMvELYyOS8WBumCjw1BOE4Zwm16EIxOZ9fQe8oBP3CS47ryfc-jIrivs5iScI8DYMvq2wC_7Wj9GQVmFMcVNYQ-1xia2xj6IZb-e1RvaUjd7uJVAeIguWUPGY2l9pCSgbBDGt23ikvkM0eWVKF6WNnMk_qG0ompkE6-fchbOXXum_LxB9Z2fFDvPGkgFVMPank6wA5pulPQ0NBFs=w477-h635-no

In fact as I was writing this up, I realized I lost all of my iphone pictures from the morning. I still have all my DLSR one though, but most of my food pictures were on my phone .

Talking to Su Lynn was also really the first time I had used my voice that morning other than for a few words, and it was then I realized that I was in trouble. Up until about two years ago, I had never lost my voice. Now it seems to be a yearly thing, and it was the time for it to happen this year. I was silently freaking out about how I was going to survive being alone and with no real way of communicating. Also my work portion of the trip started the next day and I wanted to network and meet people. I decided to speak as little as possible that day, which given the fact that I was alone, shouldn’t be difficult. I walked over to France, I needed a nice cold drink to sooth my sore throat.

Beautiful Epcot morning

I got the La Passion Martini Slush has vodka, Grey Goose Le Citron, Cranberry and Passion Fruit Juice. This was soo good, a little on the sweet side, but I like that. Needing something other then alcohol I went over to the Brazil booth to get Pão de Queijo, which sounds fancy but really just rolls stuffed with cheese:thumbsup2. It hit the spot, but not anything special that I would need to get again.

The next booth I went to was the Ireland booth. I picked up the Warm Irish Cheddar Cheese and Stout Dip with Irish Brown Bread. The bread was just okay, kind of dried out, but the cheese dip was amazing, very strong cheese. I got a drink there as well, I think it was the Meade Honey Wine, but whatever it was didn’t leave much of an impression. Next up, I wanted to try the Canada booth, but the line was so long I skipped it. In fact, as I walked toward Future World, I started to realize that every line for everything was too long.

:figment:

I think I really have been spoiled by too many trips during slow times, but there was no way I was waiting 30 minutes for Nemo. I went into where the Light Lab was, I don’t know what that building is called, it’s right next to Club Cool. Anyway, it was air conditioned, had drinks, and seats available. I grabbed a Elysian Brewing Space Dust IPA.

I am not a craft beer drinker, so it was a little strong for me, but refreshing on this hot day. I also picked up an AP button there as well. My button collection was growing.

With no sign of the lines dying down, I made the decision to leave Epcot and move on to my third park of they day.

I took the monorail over to MK.

It was just as crowded here, but at least here there are so many attractions you can get on with little to no wait. I walked up to the train station to take some pictures.

I figured if I was up there, I might as well take a ride. I took more pictures as I waited.

I didn’t go far, just to Frontierland. There are only a few attractions I have yet to do at MK, one of them being Country Bear Jamboree, Joe would hate this, so it’s always something we skip. I have done the now extinct Disneyland version, but I only have vague recollections of that. While I was waiting to go in, I got a call from my dad and I panicked a little. Being Monday, it was the first school day that my dad and husband we’re in charge of getting the boys to everything on time and I was worried something had happened. Luckily no big problem though, my dad was just worried he went to the wrong drop of spot for preschool. I did not receive another call all week with any questions for the boys, the week went very smoothly for everyone:jumping1:.

As far as CBJ, I thought it was okay.

Unlike other classic attractions, I don’t feel the same affection towards this one, but it is a nice time killer in AC.

Very impressive that you had already hit 3 parks at that point in the day! Your morning at DHS sounds like it was nice and laid back. Sorry to hear your voice wasn't doing so good :(

I like the Little Mermaid show at DHS, too! I think it's neat how the simulate the water, and the blacklight puppets are fun.

I'm the same with boats on an empty stomach. Ick!

That's great that you and Su-Lynn could squeeze in a Dismeet! But too bad that you've lost your pictures. :(

I hope that there's a happy ending to the voice-losing story...it's stinks to be under the weather on vacation!!
