Can't Wait for Some Warmth

Welcome to North Florida weather. This is our New Years forecast. BTW it cant "rain" at 26 degrees. We have already had snow in the "Sunshine State" earlier this December....

14 days and counting till the Fort. I hope it will be warmer there than here. 409 miles hopefully will make a difference.

I just looked at the 10 day forecast for WDW. Today should be 70, but it’s the last day with a high out of the 50s until next weekend. I feel for people coming in for the week. We had a February trip one year that was the same. 30s and low 40s every morning. Wearing heavy coats to the parks everyday got old.

@Teamubr you must have forgot that this is marathon week. I am doing the 10k and both of us are doing the full. Full looks mildly better at race start and standing around in 40degrees. I did a practice run of the 10k today, 6 miles in atlanta 34 degrees with real feel of 30, the 10k on Friday is looking to be 33 degrees with real feel of 29. I keep hoping for a change. We have one whole bag packed with throw away clothes. Only good thing on the 10k race start and finish temps will be the same. For the marathon it will warm up considerably during the race.

Kris,

You runners like this stuff. :D Besides on a 10k you are barely warmed up. When I was cycling, I hated anything below 50. 45 degrees and riding at 20-25 mph is what caused the stress fractures in my knees.

Stay warm and I hope Ed packed some warm clothes to go with his swimming suit.

Woke up to 0 degrees F today.
Now kitchen drain to outside sewer pipe is frozen. So not knowing where the block is there are no showers, minimal flushing, no dishes. It’s a mess! We believe the blockage is somewhere outside. Either in our driveway or on the street. We see a neighbor has a plumber. Something is wrong there too to have a visit on NY Day.
This has never happened but it has been way below freezing for many days.

I know how you feel. We went through frozen pipes every winter in our old place. We had one wall where our shower pipes where that was easily removable so we could get heat back there, even though it was right next to the heater, that was the first pipe to freeze. Then it was the kitchen drain.

Even with leaving the cabinets open it would still freeze.

1) You complain about the low (lower) temps in Orlando.
2) We live here.
3) First time in 8-months I have worn long pants (with exception of church services or marriage ceremonies).
4) Now. WE have the right to complain.

1) Just so everyone knows, I DID contact the Florida Department of Tourism about the cold-cold-cold temperatures.
2) After being transferred to three people, the manager said he understood, and "would get back to me".
30 I will let you folks know the outcome of our next conversation.

TRS Congrats on getting through to someone at Dept. of Tourism but before you get your hopes up consider the following:
1) The required Environmental Impact Study that is required will likely take years to complete followed by the untold number of legal challenges
2) You are expecting a Governmental Agency with Civil Service Employees who are extremely adept at tying things up in RED TAPE and finding a reason to refer the problem to someone else. ( Know from first hand experience) to address this problem in a timely manner.

1) I did get a "call back" voicemail from FLDOTism (Florida Department of Tourism).
2) They apologized and said they didn't realize IT WAS ME who called and complained.
3) The representative said it was tough getting a hold of people on the weekend, but would try so they wouldn't lose their job over my call.
4) The rep said they would have things handled early Monday.
5) So, during the day, we should see at least 70ºF, as a favor and hoped I wasn't too inconvenienced.
6) Let's see if they deliver.

:cool1:

1) Temp at WDW reached 73ºf, today.
2) I guess the complaint-resolution actions for my comment worked out well.
3) For my next effort . . . World Peace.

:cool1:

I got rid of all my winter clothes when we moved to Florida so this cold spell in Tampa Bay has been rough! I don't like it at all, but hopefully we'll be through the worst after tonight. We actually got a freeze warning alert for tonight and I'm having to run the heat in the house.

We are home on our second weather day this week in SE Texas. It is currently 27F. I made homemade Mickey waffles (mine was a fruit and Nutella waffle), and we are dreaming of Disney.

Thinking of all the tenters at the Fort right now - keep warm.

Thanks. Tonight’s low is 31 with a wind chill down to 20. We have 2 electric heaters and extra blankets. I’m sure if worst came to worst, DD will jump in bed with us and bring all her blankets with her.
