Hakuna Matata, A Baked Potato! -Oct '17 TR *Completed, New PTR Link*

I just found your TR and read all about Day 1. It was great that you got to Disney so early and had a wonderful first day. I loved all the castle pictures of you and your parents. You can just see the happiness of the moment beaming from your faces. And I loved the big smiles from the 7Dwarfs Mine train ride!

I am clueless about the purple wall. Your TR is the first that I noticed any mention or pictures of it. Either that or I just did not pick up on it before in other TRs. It does make a nice photo backdrop. Is it near the castle?

Thanks for joining in! It was a great first day. Thanks for the compliments! We were all very happy to be there :)

Haha the purple wall is a trend on social media, it's a very photogenic spot! It is on your way into Tomorrowland- the wall that leads from Tomorrowland Terrace.

I agree-I think this meal was my favorite. The characters were all fun and loved the food. I was hesitant about booking it but did it for Rivers of Light and didn't regret it at all!

I mostly did it for RoL but was so glad it ended up being a good meal!

TH is a fave of mine as well. Love all your pictures with the characters. We have yet to try lunch or dinner there. Our breakfasts have all been good.

Thank you! I would definitely like to try breakfast there one day!

We love Tusker House! Your Goofy photo is funny, you look like you are hiding behind his whiskers.

Goofy was so fun! We had great character interaction overall.

:rotfl: Ahaha what a great shot...of strangers!

Your safari pictures are great! And I'm glad to hear you all had a great meal at Tusker House. Your character photos there are awesome, especially the ones of Goofy being such a nut!

Haha I thought it was funny too! :rotfl2:

Thanks! Tusker House ended up being such a good choice and we had great character interaction!

Fun character photos. Looks like Goofy was a hit and gave you guys a lot of good poses. I remember reading about Tusker House in your last report, and it sounds like it's been a safe choice both times for you. Good food and decent character interactions...It's good to have a reliable restaurant in the a park!

Thanks! Goofy definitely gave us great poses, which us photo nuts appreciated :) Two successful meals at Tusker House makes the restaurant a win in my book! Now I will just need to do breakfast there to complete the trifecta of meals!

Day 2, October 22, 2017 - Harambe Market & Tree of Life Trails!

From lunch we walked over to the Harambe Market. Not to eat but just to look around!

So many fun things to look at! But there was a certain wall that I just needed to take a picture by!

We also saw a cool performer while we were there!

After that, we headed on to the Tree of Life trails. It was a little hard to find the entrance to these! But once we did, it was sooo quiet and deserted. My mom had been wanting to do this and we really enjoyed getting to see the carvings up close!

Along the way we also spotted Flik out meeting with no one around! I have never met him (nor seen a Bugs Life for that matter) but he was very interactive! He was probably just happy to have visitors!

Up next...Asia & FotLK!

Nice pictures, the hyenas is so cool, I haven’t seen that one before. I love Harambe Market area and fun meet with Flick!

Okay, finally all caught up. You had a very full morning in AK. I loved looking at all your pictures. Glad you got some in front of the famous walls. We loved the Tree of Life trail and nice bonus of getting to meet flik :thumbsup2

Neat! I've never noticed this one before.

nor seen a Bugs Life for that matter

Cute pictures with Flik :) A Bug's Life is a pretty good little movie—you should watch it sometime you've got some downtime :)

Cute pics! I haven't seen that magic shot before!

I don't even think I knew these existed--where is the entrance???

Great pictures with Flik!! That movie is really cute, if you ever get a chance to watch it. It was actually on the other day and I was watching bits and pieces.

Anytime we have seen Flik he has had a little bit of a line but never a huge one. But we were always heading somewhere with purpose...

I live that one! I will need to try and remember to find that one!

I've never seen that wall before! Oh wow...see that what I love about AK, there's so many little details everywhere.
I'm on a mission to find that wall now. I want a picture of Evie in front of it! :rotfl2:

A Flik meet and greet? That's not a common character, although I vaguely remember reading about him coming to the parks. A Bugs Life is a pretty cute movie. Not knock your socks off amazing, but still a solid Disney film.

The characters at lunch look like a lot of fun! I was considering doing a meal there whenever we end up back in WDW for the RoL package since I don't want to tie up a FP for it or have to wait a long time to get in the theater. Tusker House seems like the best way to go!

I love all of the different things they have to discover in Harambe, and the performers are always really entertaining. They did such an amazing job with that part of AK! Same for the Tree carvings. We have found ourselves wandering there at times without meaning to, but haven't in awhile. It is always super quiet and peaceful because I don't think many people know you can actually get that close! One of AK's hidden gems, for sure.

Where exactly is that wall? I have found the Mickey painting before but never seen that one!

Thanks! I had seen the hyenas shot on facebook and was happy to be able to get it!

Isn't it pretty? It was right inside the seating area of Harambe Market.

Thanks! I will definitely need to watch it soon!

Thank you!

I believe there are 2 entrances on both sides of the tree. The one we entered was on the left side of the tree before you head into Africa, kind of tucked away!

Great pictures with Flik!! That movie is really cute, if you ever get a chance to watch it. It was actually on the other day and I was watching bits and pieces.

Thank you! I actually saw that it was on but didn't get to watch. I definitely will one day!

I live that one! I will need to try and remember to find that one!

I didn't even realize that's where he met so it was funny to not only stumble upon him but to see him with literally no one around!

Yes it's hidden inside Harambe Market if you get to make your way over there on your trip!

Haha Evie definitely needs a pic there! It's hidden inside the market. And I agree, so many little details that make the park so wonderful!

It was such a random place for a character meet but it was fun to stumble upon it!

That is exactly why I booked at Tusker House! But it ended up being a really good choice for a meal so it worked out!

I think this is the first time I actually got to take my time and enjoy the little details of AK, it was so nice. The carvings trail was so peaceful!

I had seen that wall on Instagram I believe and was determined to find it! It's inside Harambe Market next to I believe the Sausages stand. I think it leads to a CM area so it's pretty hidden!

Day 2, October 22, 2017 - Expedition Everest & FotLK!

Then it was time to use our FPs for Expedition Everest!

However as we approached the ride we felt some drops coming down. I figured it would be safer to head into the gift shop for a few to avoid a potential shower that was coming. Well that turned out to be a great decision. Within seconds it started to DOWNPOUR and the shop started to fill up quickly. We saw so many people who were coming off the ride just completely soaked! I think we waited about 15 minutes before the rain finally subsided and we headed onto the ride!

My mom has a love/hate relationship with this ride. At first she hated it, then she tried it again and enjoyed it. She was really looking forward to trying it again.

We also got to see both our names on the interactive boards!

I think this time mom went back to not liking it so much! :rotfl2:I of course loved it! I am mad that I ended up covering my mom's face on the ride photo :( She's clenching that bar but she looks so happy! Looking back at the photo, my mom thinks she would still go on it again.

My dad doesn't like this ride so I ended up using his FP to ride again by myself.

While I was in line, the most incredible thing happened! Since we had used all 3 of our FPs I started playing around in the app to see if I could get a 4th FP for anything good. I refreshed for a little bit and FPs for Flight of Passage opened up!! They weren't for the most ideal time as it meant we would have to rush a little to get to the RoL theater for our showtime but I didn't care! When I got off EE I ran over to tell my parents and they were thrilled, especially dad!

From there we decided we would go see the 5pm Festival of the Lion King show. We had a little time to kill so we stopped to sit
for a little in the seating area for Tamu Tamu Refreshments. This was such a good find as it was shaded and completely empty! I got myself a mickey bar while mom and dad shared a beer.

Then we headed to the theater! We got some great seats!

We had a great view of Timon for most of the show and he was HYSTERICAL! This is also where the TR title comes from! My dad is not the most Disney savvy and at some point he started saying "A Baked Potato" instead of "Hakuna Matata" :rotfl:This definitely became something we repeated throughout the trip!

After that, we made a quick stop at Pizzafari for mom and dad to get something small to eat. It was just too humid for me and I wasn't really in the mood for anything. I think my dad got a pizza and my mom a soup- neither were too impressed but it got the job done.

Up next...back to Pandora!

Wow! Good instincts! Florida weather is soo unpredictable! But those flash rains don't tend to last long. :)

No way! How lucky is that!? I've heard of that happening to different people a few times now. It must have been a surprise!

Oh my goodness! I wondered where this could have come from... this is great!

Ha, your mom sounds like me, however, mine has gone to the hate side and I am to afraid to ride again. I have done it 3x and not sure I will ever go again.

How awesome to get a 4th FP for FoP!

I love Lion King, such a fun show.

Wow good idea, it would have no fun to get soaked.

That’s awesome luck!

After the mini shower we saw when waiting for the safari, I figured it was better to be safe than sorry! And just like that one, this one didn't last very long either which was good!

I had heard it happening too, but honestly never thought I'd be that lucky lol It was a great surprise!

My dad's quite the comedian! Glad it gave me something fun to name the TR, I always seem to struggle with that!

Ha, your mom sounds like me, however, mine has gone to the hate side and I am to afraid to ride again. I have done it 3x and not sure I will ever go again.

I love Lion King, such a fun show.

At least you have given it enough tries to form a strong opinion! ;)

I felt so lucky to get those 4th FPs!

Very fun show! I don't always get to it every trip but I enjoy it when I do!

Isn't that fun! I pointed it out to my family on iasw a couple weeks ago and they were shocked! :lmao:

What?! That's awesome!!! And I'm sure completely unexpected! :thumbsup2

It was so cool! My mom didn't get it at first until I explained it was because of our magic bands ;)

So awesome and unexpected! I was very grateful!

Wow good idea, it would have no fun to get soaked.

That’s awesome luck!

This is so cute, I love it.

Yeah we definitely made the right call to hide in the gift shop!

I couldn't believe how lucky I was, never thought that would happen.

Thanks! He's a silly one haha

Whaat!!! Amazing Disney Pixie Dust! Can't wait to hear how you all liked it!

I was so beyond grateful for the awesome luck!
