Pop Century Room Renovations

We are packing a small collapsible backpack inside of our carry on backpacks, and we will each have a change of clothes and toiletries, in case our luggage doesn't get delivered in a timely fashion. Will check in at the resort, move park essentials into the collapsible backpack, and then drop the regular backpacks off with Bell Services while we head to the park (in case our room isn't ready at check in time).
Good plan. That's what I was thinking too. Have some extras in case the luggage takes too long. We'll each have our own carry on so it's really not much to add a few essentials to each person's bag.

We're flying in at 5:30pm and I was thinking of letting them handle our luggage. Now you have me second guessing that! Does it take a long time for them to get it to your room? We're planning to head to DS to activate our Canadian Resident tickets so we're planning to be gone most of the evening anyway but I don't want them delivering my luggage at midnight!
I hadn't considered that because I am arriving around 8:45PM luggage could be delayed - or seem like it since my normal routine is early AM flight hotel for drop of carry ons and then right to park - I never know how long luggage takes. May have to see when it gets closer how to handle it - whether i get luggage myself or not. I mean you walk right past where the bags come out anyway, so maybe if it's not too crazy I will just grab.

They state to expect your luggage in your room 3-4 hours after you arrive at your resort. So if you land at 8:45PM you'll probably arrive at Pop around 10. So your luggage could arrive between 1AM-2AM. We have made it a rule that if our plane lands later than 6PM to grab our luggage ourselves.

Then grabbing my own luggage is official - my whole point to coming in Wednesday PM was so I could sleep and wake up early already IN Disney the next day - not happening if luggage comes at 2AM - another DIS save!

If you've done online check in and get a text that your room is ready before you get, where do you get your parking pass? Do you still need to go to the check in desk and pick it up?

I don't think they issue parking passes anymore -- at least for the most part. We have done direct to room check-in the last two trips (2015 & 2016) and we never had a parking pass. Didn't see any on the cars parked near us, either. Just scanned our magic bands at the guard station when we arrived.

if ou drive to the parks, did they scan your bands for parking there too?

We are getting our own luggage because of flying in at 5:40 pm. Will that significantly add time to our trip?
Our last trip in October, we arrived around 5:00 pm and our bags beat us to the room. I've never had them come too late.

We don't drive to the parks, but like Dansdad said, they do scan your magic bands when you enter the parking lots at the parks (based on what friends have told me and what I've read on various message boards/websites).

We landed at 8:30 pm on Nov 26, 2017 at MCO (coming from BC, Canada - all flights arrive late in day). We finally got to our room about 10pm, exhausted, but with the alarm set as we were trying to be at Universal for rope drop. I was kind of listening for the luggage and finally, at about 12:30am, I called bell services and they said the luggage had arrived at Pop after midnight so it would delivered in the morning by 0830. Yikes - we hadn’t planned on this and we Only had our jeans that we had on - no capris or shorts. I finally persuaded them to deliver it ASAP. I think I feel asleep at 2am! Wished I had just collected it myself.

I'm confused why you wouldn't let them handle your luggage-you can arrive up until 10 and they take care of it. I pack jammies/essentials/clean shirt, underwear for the next day in case all hades breaks out.

We arrive 9:30 PM on Sunday are are planning on letting them handle our bags.
I don’t know if I want to wait until late to get our bags. We won’t have carry on bags so don’t have a lot of room to pack things. We might just try to shove things in our personal items. The next day isn’t a Park day for us so it should be fine.

Well, I thought since we landed at 8:30 or thereabouts that they would just bring it to our room by 11:30 or so. We packed pj’s, clean shirt and underwear, plus a bathing suit but never thought about shorts. Next time I will be better prepared. Unfortunately, I can’t even let them transport my luggage from the resort back to the airport as we fly international. We have flown in/out of Seattle when the roads in BC are decent but never in winter.

I’m with you on the roads. We had a flight delayed and then cancelled one year because of snow. It was hard getting to the airport and we ended up having to take another flight to different airports with multiple stops. (This was to Houston)

We're checking in tomorrow. MDE request 70s , 80s and TP fax for renovated 70s, 80s. Hope we get a new room (I love my husband, but don't love sleeping while touching a nuclear furnace. Hoping for a queen bed). I'll try to figure out the status of renovations & share here.
(also, the baggage info above was enlightening on why not to let DME take--we'll just have next day clothes in our carry on & not worry about when the big stuff arrives)

I just walked all around building 6 and I don’t see any construction going on. They’re currently working on 5. I don’t see any completed rooms in 5.
that’s great news! Thanks for the update! We arrive in 2 weeks and I’d looked to request a lake view room.

Do the rooms in building 6 appear to be occupied?
