We will be staying on property for our first time! We picked DLH. What is the best way to get to the parks first thing in the morning? From looking at a map it looks like we would want to walk through DD. ENter both parks from front entrance? In what case would you want to use the monorail?

At rope drop, I would always walk through DTD to the park entrances (they are side by side at the opposite end of DTD from DLH).

Later in the day you can take the monorail if you're ok with entering in Tomorrowland. Not sure when you are going, but for the next month or two, Main Street is pretty torn up, so I'd be using the monorail as much as possible to avoid seeing it that way. If it's back to normal when you visit, I prefer that walk down Main Street.

Construction is going to be on-going for a while at Disney.
Beside the current Main Street refurbishment there will be major construction at the west end of DTD.
Right now it's slated for summer 2018. Here's more information.

To make your way to the parks each morning, it's best to walk through DTD to the front gates for both parks. Riding the Monorail into the parks first thing may get you into the parks mid way through the first hour. It's not as fast as one might think.

We will use the Monorail during the day when we are returning to the hotel. Saves a little walking. Later in the day using the Monorail to return to the park can take awhile. Since the Monorail boards/fills in Tomorrowland, there might not be space for guest to load at the DTD platform. We've had to wait for the Monorail to pass 4 times before there was room.

I like taking the monorail but it always seems to not be running when we stay at DLH :sad1:

Me too. I have stayed there a total of 7 nights now and it has not been operational one time during the day on our way back to the hotel for a break, or returning to DL after our break.
