As the title says, planning an april weekend trip for 40th anniversary and wondering whether to book thru Disneyland site or Costco travel (since we are members). We've been 3 other times at Christmas but want this to be just the two of us. Any thoughts on where to stay other than property hotels.

If your dates are during DapperDays, I'd book through their event to get the best on site room rates.

On Harbor, we generally stay at the Tropicana.

If I was in your position, I would stay at the Grand Californian during Dapper Days and book concierge too. Congrats in advance for 40 years!!! Being able to walk to your room from DCA is such a plus.

Thanks for all the feedback folks. Decided to book Fairfield as we have stayed there before. All good to go just have to keep this under wrap for a couple more months as well as tie up some additional details..such as securing my wifes time off without her knowing as well as my own time off which won't be an issue.

Funny addition to this report. Last evening my wife mentioned our upcoming anniversary and said we should take a long weekend and go somewhere just the two of us. Boy is she gonna be surprised. She suggested a getaway to the mountains or similar.

Perfect! If she asks for a hint, tell her you took her advice about a getaway to the mountains. Just don't tell her the mountains are Space, Big Thunder, Splash and last but not least, Matterhorn.

Sad to report I have had to cancel our trip. I never got the chance to surprise my wife. Due to situations at her work and here on the home front we won't be going any time soon. I am quite sad as I was so looking forward to surprising her. Hoping we can regroup and do a trip in 2019.

I’m so sorry to hear you’ve had to cancel your surprise trip :(
I hope you can reschedule it for next year!
