***May 2018 Check-In Thread***

I just went to the Desert Inn & Suites site (even though I already booked our rooms I like to keep checking in case prices drop) and they have a Sunday Funday promo. if you arrive on a Sunday and stay for 2+ days you get a discount. Our deluxe room went from $119 a night to $106. That promo saved us $234! Glad I checked :) i know we technically arrive on a Saturday but we might just stay somewhere else for the one night and then transfer to DI&S - we've done that before and it was not a big deal.

When I originally scheduled I didnt even think about it. Havent decided if I will add a day.
The WDW Star Wars weekend we went to was huge, but that is because they did it for a couple of months so they were able to offer more stuff and treat it more like mini conventions. It does sound like DLR has some stuff planned for the evenings (or that is how it looks from the 2016 info), but nothing like WDW - with celebrity panels, specialty dining etc.

We added a day to our DVC stay....we check in on May 28 and check out on June 2. We're from Texas and the Texas Rangers play the Angels that friday night in Anaheim. My husband is pretty pumped to cross another major league stadium off his list.

You've given me another option for our off property days! There are some home games during our stay, and when there are no games they have tours of the stadium.

Flights are booked!! We found a great deal on miles out of our little regional airport here instead of having to drive to Austin, Dallas or Houston. Flying into San Diego and doing USS Midway (our son is very much into military transportation!), San Diego Zoo Safari Park, and Legoland. The driving up to Anaheim for 4 days/night at Disneyland staying at the Grand Californian. Flight leaves mid afternoon out of SNA on Saturday, giving us plenty of time to take it easy on our last morning.

I'm a type A planner, so to have the flights booked is one less thing to worry about. Now to find hotels on Memorial Day weekend in San Diego...should be cheap, right?? ;)

Isn't it great when you can cross something off the list?

WooHoo! I am in for May! Flying in from PDX on May 5th and in the parks 6th through 10th and home on the 11th. I am going with my Son, DIL and their 3 year old twins. We are staying at the DLH. Beyond excited!

Twins! That will be so much fun, that is a great age to take them to the parks. I still love all the photos from the parks when DD was that age, she is 15 now and cannot get here near a character unless I bribe her ;)

May 1-4!!

There are 10 of us flying into LAX from YVR the morning of the 1st. Staying at the Clarion (not first choice, but part of the package), transfer to Long Beach Pier and cruise back to Vancouver for 4 nights on the Coral Princess. It's our Christmas present from my parents. So it's the two of them, my two sisters and their other halves and my family of 4. For the most part we are all experienced Disney travellers. Mom has been 6 times, my dad 4, one sister 8, another 4, me 6, my husband twice, our kids twice and once. Sister's husband hasn't been since before DCA was even around. Other sister's boyfriend, never. And we're all Star Wars nerds and just realized we will be there May the 4th!! Woohoo!!!

That sounds like an awesome gift! Would love to do a park/cruise vacation, I think it would feel like just when you think the vacation is over you get on a ship :) Not to mention how nice it is that instead of flying you are sailing home.

We will be there May 19-26. My youngest daughter is graduating from high school the weekend before we leave and Disneyland is where she wants to go for her graduation trip. We haven't been to Disneyland since 2009 and they were just building World of Color, so we're excited to see everything. Also... first trip with no young kids!

Same exact date for us. Already booked

This info aboug Grad nights has me scard...
I want to see FANTASTIC, WOC and the NIGHT PARADE...
Do I need TO GET those desset parties to watch the shows?

I will be traveling with an almost 3 year old and a 8 month old lil girl my wife and another couple with no kids.
I hope the crowds are ok fo us to enjoy the parks.. we are targeting disnehland 3 days and CA 2 days... and one day universal

Grad Night ticket info! It looks like the kids get DCA for a party for $79, DCA all day (and party) for $99, and if they want a hopper with the DCA party it is $139. Not sure how many will pay that much for access to DL.

I am big on the packages (F!, WoC etc) just because I hate to wait around for shows and parades, and I know DD and DH would never wait (or not be happy about it and let me know it ;)). F! has been gone for a long time and I have actually never seen it at DL, just at DHS. Not a must do for us to be honest.

WoC is a must-do for us, we did the dining package one time (Wine Country Trattoria) and it was great - but we had someone with us in a wheelchair so it is not the same experience everyone else has. We did not have to be there more than 10 minutes early and did not have to stand, we could sit on the ground and see just fine. Last May we did the dessert party and loved it. We had a great table, nice desserts, DD got a light-up WoC mug, and the only wait was waiting for our turn while the CMs took other guests to their tables. It is a splurge for us but one we will do again in May. Below is a pic from our table.

We also did the Blue Bayou package they had for when MSEP was showing (I know they are not showing MSEP now but the parades have the same routes and I think the parade packages are in the same viewing spots), this was something we did not really need but were traveling with older family members who could not stand for very long. The meal was great (as usual for BB) and the area was fine. But we ended up watching the parade twice more during our stay - once from the starting point on Main Street and once from the same spot we had with the dining package (but it was the later parade). For the parades we would not do the package again unless we were going during a super busy time. This photo is from the dining package which is facing the entrance to the railroad -

This is from the 2nd parade start -

Last year Disney had tickets for Grad Night party goers that included DL, this year they have to pay extra to go to DL. Not sure how many will actually pay extra so it (hopefully) affect DL attendance. It seems like Disney heard all the complaints!

DI&S dropped their prices slightly - they already have the Fun in the Sun promo (arrive on a Sunday and stay for 2+ days), but when I went to check again (yeah I check all the time) our stay dropped by $50. I rebooked :)

I added the SoCal tix discount info to the OP. From what others have said from last years promo, the last weekend will be packed with locals using their last days (the last day to use is the 24th). This promo does not seem to block any day of the week (I believe last year they blocked Saturdays), but they did block March 23rd to April 8th.

Double check your flights if flying Southwest! Prices went down by $32 on one leg of our trip and $5 on the other, we are down to $74 each way :)

I've booked my solo birthday San Diego (May 1-4), Disneyland Trip (May 4-9). I'm staying at the Residence Inn Maingate (using points) and car is rented. Looking forward to doing the Walk in Walts Footstep tour, the WOC dessert & the fantastic dinning package and doing other things I've never done at Disneyland.

When can we book reservations? Is it 60 days out? I think we're only going to book a character breakfast with Minnie & Friends at Plaza Inn. Plan is to have a light breakfast in the room (we have a full kitchen in our villa) and then book with Minnie as late as possible and make that "brunch".

We only have 4.5 months until we travel! Hahaha!!

I think you can book up to 90 days out for dinning and 60 days out for tours. Online or on the app you can see how far out they will let you book.

Just got our tickets from LMTClub! 5 day hoppers, DD and I will upgrade to APs, DH said he might not be able to go with us in Oct. He was so dead set against us going by ourselves a couple of years ago but DD and I did a long weekend in Feb 2016 and everyone survived (even him) so he seems ok with us going by ourselves this Oct.

I looked at the DLR dining and it is showing up to March, so 60 days. I think the brunch is a good idea, we are not usually very hungry when we are in the parks....but that could be from all the snacking we do ;) If we did brunch we would probably just do a light dinner. It has been snowing non stop all day, 4 months (I don't count the half :rolleyes1) is too far!

Hi! I will also be celebrating my birthday at DLR :yay: We are definitely doing the WoC party but still debating about the F! package - it is a long trip (for us) and I'm trying to not break the bank!

Just found this Bats Day post -

Too long to read? Basically this year (May 5-6) will be their last. They say that they do not make any money from it and the new tax laws will actually have them lose money. To top it all off the hotel they have held the event the past 8 years raised their rates and they are now priced out.

We are arriving on the 5th and was planning on a short day (it is a Grad Nite), that Black Market sounds interesting, might have to check it out
