I guess they weren't profitable enough.

But, I am so surprised. We used almost all of them when the kids were little. They went to the one at AKL, Poly, BC, and even the smaller one that closed at GF and they always had a great time, and DH and I got to have a date night!

What are parents supposed to do now? Not everyone feels comfortable leaving a child in a hotel room with a Kids Nite Out nanny.

My kids are old enough now, but I feel sad for the parents that were looking forward to an adult evening.

We used it many years ago when our kids were little. They absolutely loved it... and so did we! Was so nice to have a date night while the kids had a blast. I’m sad to see it go.

That's too bad, we will be using it this March for the first time, and I was looking forward to being able to use it for a day every trip.

We usually bring others with us (spreading the Disney love). If they offer to keep the kids, then we leave for an hour or two. If they don't, then we don't have a date night. And that's okay too.

I am not a big fan of leaving my kids with people I don't know, personally. I never utilized the kids clubs because of this.

I am surprised too. Our grandkids have a reservation there in May so the parents can all go out and we'll just keep the baby...lightening the load for us a bit lol! I like that Lilo's Playhouse is open during the day for parents to attend with the kids and do crafts...will help them get familiar with the place. A shame to see it go. Is it possible that the Poly building is going to be torn down and replaced with another DVC?

I did not realize that Lilo’s was opening during the day. Do you happen to know the hours?

I just made a reservation for mid June for my niece so the adults can go out for the evening. Stopping in during the day would be a great intro for her.

I think the value is great - $55 for supervision, activities and dinner from 4:30 until midnight.

My three sons loved the place when it was the Neverland Club.

@Surgie2 - Are you sure that the “Lilo’s open during the day” thing is still going on? I thought that was a short-lived offering from earlier in 2017 that wasn’t still happening, but maybe I’m wrong?

This is why they are closing. Over the years we say usage greatly decline. Many years ago you had to book ahead and hope you were able to get in.

I freely admit that I am overly paranoid, DH even more so. You just never know how skilled a person is in an emergency situation, how well they handle children, how patient they are among other things.

I am surprised because we have also been on a number of Disney Cruises, and the Kids Clubs are packed to the gills. So if parents have concerns about leaving kids in the kids club, how come they are doing it in cruises but not at WDW? Staff is very similar, young friendly, lots of them,, they all do activities and they both have the goal of giving parents a night off. Seems strange to me that it would be popular in one context, but losing popularity on another.

No criticism was intended(I would not want someone judging my parenting and I don't walk in anyone else's shoes). You are obviously not alone, that is why they are closing. I think most people feel this way now.

Couldn't even begin to guess why the disparity. But it is a very big one.

I didn't take it as criticism. :thumbsup2

Over Xmas/NYE, my wife looked into it (over my staunch objections) and they were only open 4:30-midnight. My wife wanted a night alone, but I just couldn't bring myself to putting my kids in "daycare" (evening care) on a Disney vacation... though it's probably super fun. And I vetoed her. But she went and checked it out one night and she said there were 2 staff and 4 kids and that was at 8:30pm or so. If that's how it is during the most popular week of the year, I can see why it's closing.

You could very well be right that the daytime concept didn't live on. I had it in my notes to check out when we stay in May. Just for fun I might email DSS and see what they say.
