My last couple of touring plans requests lately have not been honored, even when I made the exact same request via DVC member services to ensure they really got the message. I think sometimes they really can't make it work. I feel your pain though, my latest room location request fail was at Saratoga and the far away rooms are FAR AWAY! Fortunately the one and only time we stayed at CSR we got our request honored but they seemed less busy then, and it was pre-construction.

Thank you for this

We had requested Cabanas (wanting a refurbed room), and got Ranchos (no refurbed rooms), we had requested a high floor and got ground floor, we had requested close to the main building and got literally the farthest building out. The only thing we kind of were was close to transportation, but almost every building there has transportation outside of it so it's kind of hard to be far away from it.
I know if it was me I wouldn't find it funny, but it's kind of comical that literally nothing you requested was given

Ahhh I love that they're the 3 caballeros!!

I'm fashionably late, but here now and all caught up. Thanks in advance for the 28 people who held my place on the report :P

I just love your gifs especially the mean girls reference :rotfl:
I really enjoy your vlogs and I also love Kirt Russell so thanks for filming that.
We did CP years ago and I had heard from these boards to line up early even with the dining package. I couldn’t believe how long the line got. Your post reminded me of why I don’t want to do it again unless it’s someone I’m crazy about ;)
We saw Gary Sinise and it was a mad rush of pushing and shoving it was ridiculous how people behave :sad2:
I love the side by side pics of Josh so cute
We have used Touring Plans before and it’s been mostly positive
We only stayed CSR once when they had Buisness Class because I knew we’d be guaranteed Cabanas 8B
It’s a beautiful resort and we loved the one restaurant there but it is huge resort

And I was able to complete my goal of getting this picture:

Aw! Awesome recreation pic!

Bummer!

Ok, I am finally finally finally replying!! I've had most of these quotes saved up and then get distracted!! I still need to catch up on vlogs. Thank goodness the holidays are over and January is a black hole of nothing so i have time for things I actually want to do, like read TRs!!

Turns out they couldn't get the luggage balanced right so they couldn't take off. We sat on the runway for about an hour before they fixed it

Oh.My.Lord. This is part of the reason our flight out of Orlando was delayed even more than it was! Like, WHYYYYYY is it so hard to put bags on a plane? I told Matt I would get off and help them load the freaking bags. We also extended our delay by an hour b/c of this.

This is so cute!! The refurb looks so much nicer than the older rooms. In October the preferred rooms weren't finished so we stayed in 60s for closeness, and that room was sad (maybe not as sad as our room at Movies though?? The carpet there was GROSS.)

She was on her phone and yelled: "I can't help you I'm in Florida!" in response to something someone was saying to her. So true lady, so true. :rotfl:

I relate to this! I got like three phone calls and a bunch of email from people back home wanting things from me and I'm like, um, sorry! Out of state, deal with it yourself!!!

I love seeing all the Pop pictures! I regret that mom and I didn't look around more and just left quickly. Matt and I took more time at Movies and looked around more and I'm so glad we did

Did I mention this trip report is going to have copious amounts of Christmas tree and decoration photos? Because it will! :thumbsup2

Yay!!

Still I can't help but think something seems off about Lilo :scratchin

Emo before Emo was cool. "Just leave me alone to die"

There were actually tons of them, we saw them everywhere during our trip.

We saw ZERO

:dogdance::dogdance:

This is one of the best cars I've ever seen!

and the line for the packages already stretched to Japan.

Same thing happened with us last year! We felt like we were so early, and I followed Dis advice, and I was still surprised.

"saving seats for 28 people"

Here is my Disney rant: I haaaaaate this. I hate people saving seats. If you want your whole gigantor party together, arrive the eff together. I double hate the people in lines who come up and want to get ahead of you to be with their family. NO. If you want to sit together, arrive together. It drives me crazy. I do like how at certain shows (FOTLK in particular) they have signs that say all party members must get in line together (although they still don't really enforce it  )

I'm not talking about people in a long line who have a kid that needs to use the restroom or whatever, but the people who send two or three people ahead and then five more want to push past you. I hate it. The only time it's acceptable to me is if it is a character meet at a party or something, and someone holds a spot for a group photo.

Oh my gosh, I feel my blood pressure rising just thinking about it, lol. This happened to me so often on the solo trip, people just disregarding me b/c I was by myself and as a result much less important than them and what they wanted to do. Ugh.

Yesssss!!!! this should be framed, lol

But I will say the construction noise was barely noticeable, and the constructions buttons were so cute! @xlsm if we stay there again during construction (which I think we will be) I'm getting some for you!

Ah!! I love it. I think I'm the only person who'd stay in construction on purpose just to get pins, LOL!! I'm obsessed.

That stinks that you didn't get any of your room requests! But the construction pins are so cute and I think the declining housekeeping for a gift card is such a great offer, I hope they intend to keep offering it!

ut here's some food socks! There's cupcake socks, sushi socks etc

zdKOR1il.jpg

Too bad once you take them out of those shapes they probably aren't even half as fun looking.
Yeah, cute in the package, but wouldn't be worth it afterwards!

We grabbed our luggage and went to try out declining the housekeeping for a gift card since we never really need it done. Declining housekeeping and getting the gift card was pretty easy.
We did that for our Pop Century stay, but since it was only 2 nights, I got $5. And I still haven't used it yet! Keep forgetting at Disneyland!

You see while my Touringplans fax worked great for Pop Century, it did the opposite at CSR. I wondered if it was because I booked through Orbitz or maybe the hotel really was that full, but every request I made I got the opposite of.

Oh no! That totally sucks and is so weird! I'll see how my request goes thru in March (booked thru Undercover Tourist).

All caught up! Loving it so far!
I was singing "That fish is poooison!" in my head bahaha! :D
I'm sorry you had to deal with the rudeness during CP. I can't believe how rude people can be, but I've seen Disney bring it out in them!
Can't wait to hear more!

(Our room was in the 80's building up one of the Rubik's cube staircases).
If I ever stay at Pop I want to stay in the '80's section because the '80's RULED!!!!

We headed over to BC next to check out the carousel.
One of my favorite holiday displays :santa:

CP was...an experience. :faint: I'm glad we did it once with a narrator we wanted to see, but I'd be fine not doing it again.
I did read through so I know your experience, and while we never had a bad experience like that I agree on being fine never doing it again. I just don't like to say that to people who've never done it and are excited about it lol! It's beautiful, and the 2nd time we did it we had Neil Patrick Harris who is totally amazing, but overall I rather spend my time doing something else.

Other than that the experience in line and getting in were crazy. We got there about an hour early, and the line for the packages already stretched to Japan
See now even with NPH as the narrator - and he's like one of the super popular narrators - with the dining package we only got on line about 20 minutes before they let us in and had good seats. And we were only a little bit down from the American Pavilion.

People I have told this to asked why I didn't tell a CM. To be honest, I really didn't think there was much they could do. And I totally understand why, confronting a person for not following the rules could lead to fights and complaints, which I'm sure they don't want. Easier to have 2 people find a new seat than to have 28 people yelling at you.
I don't care, first I would have been arguing with the person who was holding the seats for 28 freaking people!!!! And I definitely would have found a CM however I understand how you felt. That's crap. You either all go in or you sit wherever room is left when you come. One person in your group till out using the bathroom or getting a drink? Fine, save A seat. Not almost 30 :headache:

At least you didn't have a lady standing up AFTER the show started trying to flag down her 3 or 4 (not 28-30) family members for the area where she was sitting...yes AFTER the show was starting she was still on the phone, trying to call them, talking loudly, and the CM kept trying to tell her not to do that...she wasn't really listening. UGH!
OMG I would have yelled at her too, much to Steve's dismay lol

All I know is the guy he was rooting for won really fast, and said something funny afterwards and everyone loved what he said and just kept repeating it
 Steve watches boxing/fights, I can't stand it. And I laugh when people are all hyped up for a fight and then it's over in 3 minutes. People who are there watching it live pay lots of $$ for their seats for less than 5 minutes!

Finally we made it to the lobby where I ran into another Christmas tree! Did I mention this trip report is going to have copious amounts of Christmas tree and decoration photos? Because it will! :thumbsup2

I'm perfectly okay with this. Disney Christmas = best Christmas.

I think all the boats on this tree are so cool!

Alnd why is she wearing so much eyeliner?

Oh my gosh!! Lilo, cool it!

Yeah...this looks really strange.

EBLuVZkl.jpg

Is it just me or is the shape of his head kind of...off? It reminds me of Stewie's head from Family Guy.

Woah... *cue horror music*

When we did our first year of annual pass trips I thought that would be the only year...but I don't think that's going to be the case.

I'm having this same problem! I was sure we'd only ever do it once. Now we're renewing them this month for another year...and I'm like "It'll definitely only be for two years!" Hah...we'll see.

Immediately I spied the rose gold ears! There were actually tons of them, we saw them everywhere during our trip.

It seems that Disney finally wised up about the demand for rose gold ears because I saw them everywhere, too. Very unlike the way I was being harassed about my Etsy rose gold ears when we were there in August.

Josh commented "They should stop trying to make Dr Facilier happen". :rotfl:

He's such a mean girl.

Oh my gosh!

Josh...how do I begin to explain Josh?
Josh is flawless.
He has two Fendi purses and a silver Lexus.
I hear his hair's insured for $10,000.
I hear he does car commercials... in Japan.
His favorite movie is Varsity Blues.
One time he met John Stamos on a plane.
And he told him he was pretty.
One time he punched me in the face... it was awesome.

I'm a bit overly cautious about bedbugs

Oh my gosh, me too! My grandmother brought them home from a trip once and it was months and tons of money to get rid of them and we didn't dare go over to her house to visit for like a year. But seriously though...those things are the absolute spawn of Satan. I try not to obsess too much about them on vacation, but I always make sure to do a quick check of the room and the beds before we settle in too much.

And this lady who overheard said "it's a perfectly fine spot why don't you just sit there sweetie" like I was kid throwing a tantrum. When she said that I felt like maybe I was making too big a deal about where to sit? But I don't think not wanting to sit in back of a tree is that bad. I mean if it's a good seat why didn't they want to sit there?

Uggh! Yeah, if it's such a great spot, why was it still empty when all the front/center spots were gone!? Huh!?

I tapped on her shoulder and asked if she was "saving these seats for 28 people" I thought she'd think is funny because to me that sounded ridiculous. Then she goes "actually we are our family is sitting in this row!" I couldn't help myself I said "I don't think you can save seats like that", but she didn't say anything, and I wasn't just going to sit there and start a fight with them so we moved on.
I hate it. The only time it's acceptable to me is if it is a character meet at a party or something, and someone holds a spot for a group photo.

Oh my gosh I can't stand this!!! If it's like one small child with an adult supervising them who is having a meltdown and can't sit still waiting an hour for a show, that I can understand. I can see why people would save 1-2 extra seats for them for something like that. But when people save a row for their entire family!?? Oh my gawd! I can't!! So inconsiderate! Show up together, or don't show up at all and risk getting bad seats! Those of us who actually showed up early deserve to sit in those seats and wait. I can't believe that you did a dining pack and got there an hour early and still couldn't have a good selection of good seats. Wild.

It was a beautiful show, and he was a really great narrator, but it was so cold! I would've liked it more if I wasn't so cold, and it went a bit longer than I thought (closer to an hour than 40 mins).

Glad you enjoyed it! But after how freezing we were on our recent trip, I can imagine how much being so cold put a damper on things. :(

Because we had decided most our Christmas and birthday gifts were the trip.

We did this, too! Best Christmas present ever!

This is fantastic!! Definitely needs to be framed!

Aw man! They got it as wrong as possible! I've considered using the touring plans request before but never done it. Now I'm not sure if it would be worth it or not.

and the constructions buttons were so cute

I love these buttons! We didn't have much issue with construction there at all. I was really disappointed when we didn't get cute buttons like this at CBR this winter, even though the construction there seemed much more pervasive than at CSR.

We stayed in Casitas once and it was really close location. We're staying again on our next trip (so far) and had to book a water view because that was the only discounted one left for our dates so hopefully that gets us to Cabanas or Casitas. It is really beautiful! Did you eat at Maya Grill or Las Ventanas?

Maya Grill we had 2 dinners there and enjoyed both.
