Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

So, do you hang that on your door at night?
Kind of don't get what it's for.
Is it for privacy?
Must be dumber than I thought...
It lets them know someone is in the room. Disney is taking away the DND signs and will enter each room every day. You will not notice any difference if you normally have housekeeping everyday. Those who request no housekeeping will have someone come in and check everyday.

Hi there. Please add us to the list!!! We are going to our beloved YC Aug 21-25, then going to the Poly Aug 26-29. I am actually nervous that I wont be
happy at the Poly. Ive always wanted to stay there, but we really love YC. And its our first split stay too.
We did our first split stay last November and it worked out great. We stayed three days at GF and three at BC. The best part of it was that we were able to avoid park buses for all parks except AK. :)If we ever do a split stay again, it would be WL and BC.

What I seem to notice here is that while fans of both YC and BC are represented, they represent very differently. When people talk about the BC (and there seem to be more of those), it's almost with a cult-like passion, lol. The YC, not so much. I have to say, the wife and I really enjoyed our recent stay at YC.
It is true that there is a lot of love for the BC on this thread. But if you had in the numbers of rooms at BCV into the room count, you have twice as many rooms to love as at the YC, ;)

A couple of things made the YC just a tiny bit less desirable than the BC. A main reason people preferred the BC over the YC was that the YC didn't have a counter service location until last year, when they opened the Marketplace at Ale and Compass. Prior to that, YC guests had to walk to the Beach Club Marketplace or Hurricane Hanna's to get a counter service restaurant. But we like the YC, too, and will book it if we can get a cheaper rate there than at the BC. In fact, I am anxious to stay in a refurbed room at the YC, but a great discount for the BC was available for our January trip and I couldn't pass it up. :)

May I ask, how did you know your room was ready? Did you check at the desk or did you receive a text message? Just curious. We will be arriving around the same time, 9:30 am, and am hopping the room will be ready after a long night of travel. We have it set up to text us when the room is ready. Thank you!
We received a room ready text around 9:30am for our stay at the BC last month. :)

Looking forward to staying at BC in May! It’ll be my fourth trip there. My kids were pretty young the last time we were there in 2011, and we were only there for two nights. We were in a BCV with an amazing corner balcony.

Our room category is standard. Looking at room views, it seems like we’ll have a nice view of a roof to enjoy, lol. Our last stay was at BW. Our standard view was practically a BW view. We’ve always been spoiled with upgrades or “non standard” standard views but I have a feeling our luck may run out there. On the plus side, it looks like we’ll be close to the lobby?

Hi, DH and I will be staying at YC for the first time 3-3 thru 3-7 for a short stay. DD and I usually stay at the BW, but I could not get an AP rate there, so decided to give YC a try with DH (who is not a big Disney guy). I appreciate all the good information provided and noticed the same thing that @OneinThree commented on. I actually think that DH will be glad that YC is a bit quieter, with fewer families. (DD is 23 and an only who is now in grad school at Ohio State.) I booked a "garden or woods" view -- mostly don't want a few of a roof top. I like higher floors, but if anyone has a suggestion for room location, I'd love to hear it.

Thanks again for this helpful thread. I really did read through the beginning with the backgrounder stuff and then the last couple of weeks worth of posts. Good stuff!

Another amazing stay at BC from 12/25-1/1. Glad I was able to get a day by the pool on 12/31... even if I didn't actually get INTO the pool during the trip.

Seriously - I recommend BC to anyone considering it. From the service to the amenities — to the short walk from EPCOT. It's the best resort on property!
We were at BCV from 12/29 - 1/1 and then AKL from 1/1 to 1/6. 12/31 was also our only pool day, as the rest of the time it was either raining or "near" freezing cold days. So glad we took advantage of the pool when we could.

Heading back to the Beach Club in June! We stayed there in December of 2016 and loved it. Last time we were there, we didn't spend much time at the resort and didn't use the pool, but this time we are planning to have a couple of off days just swimming.

I've been reading up on here and basically have all of my questions answered, but one...

Do they have music playing at Stormalong Bay while your swimming/laying out?

I need to alter my info on the Be Our Guest list. We switched to YC (from BC) to take advantage of the Sun & Fun promotion. Saving over $100 per night made it worth it!

We’re at BC now. We arrived Sunday. I didn’t receive a room ready text. I was assigned a room right away. We didn’t care for the room. It looked dated or maybe dusty & my DH wasn’t happy with the our lagoon water view that had a very large tree blocking. So I went down & asked for another, a couple of hours later it was ready & perfect. Weird thing, when I checked my email that night I saw I had gotten a room ready email with the room number (1st room) at 9:30am. But we had never received a text and it never showed on the app. We were checking both on the ride down.
Our current room is much better, but I have to say I can hear the people next to us with their small children very clearly. We usually stay at the BWI & have never heard the neighbors.
Also, a big change for us, we joined DVC. I’m still a little sick over the amount of money it costs, but I’ve been assured it pays off even if we don’t come to Disney. Hoping that’s right.
The parks have been crowded but the weather was nice yesterday. I think today & tomorrow it’s going to rain.
That’s it so far. We’re having a great time.

Thanks to eandesmom and heatherbelle for YC room photos.

Does anyone know how long they are expecting to run the "trial" period for dogs at the YC? I'm having my wedding at Disney at the end of April and we were planning on boarding our dogs at Best Friends, but I'm considering switching from BC to YC so our dogs can stay with us. TIA!

I believe that just like the "Room Occupied" door hanger signs, this change may soon be coming to the YC/BC, as it seems like the Deluxes are among the first scheduled to initiate changes.

Okay, so for us technically challenged individuals (I still use a flip-phone). will the Mouse give us a cell phone to use during our stay so we can download the app? Hey, don't laugh, that phone has been very good to me over the years and I have no intention of replacing it.

No laughter from me. Although I do use a smart phone (which is arguably way smarter than I am), I had a pay-as-you go Tracfone that was indestructible. Dropped into water, run over by my van and left outside for a couple of days- it kept on tickin'

Excellent question!

I would think that the MagicBand would be a much easier way to open a guest room door, than pulling out my phone/app. Maybe the app would show a history of who opened the door and when; that might be interesting. Obviously, Disney has access to that info.

Good point. Also what if your phone goes dead or gets lost or left in the room accidentally?
