Parking a travel trailer in a resort parking lot

We are headed to Disney for our February break. Unfortunately, we could only get a campsite for Monday - Saturday. I am thinking of booking either a cabin for Sat & Sunday or a room at one of the other on site resorts. The only problem is I am not sure what to do with our 37 foot travel trailer. Has anyone ever done this? If so, were you able to park the Rig in one of the resort parking lots?

Thanks,

In our stays at Coronado I saw a number of RVs in the past. Spoke with one guy they split their stay at Coronado and Fort Wilderness camping, he said you can't sleep in the RV but they did fix some of their meals.

Yes you can. Many (not all) of the resorts have larger out lots with enough room to park. We were down in September, right after Irma. The Fort was closed when we arrived and they put us up at Old Key West for a few days. If you haven't been there, it is beautiful, but the parking was difficult for just my truck. Never mind 42 ft of trailer behind it. Before we checked in, they told us to drop the trailer over at POFQ. We were one of a dozen trailers in the lots between PO-FQ and PO-R.

We have done this - with our truck and pop up, we just left it hooked up and used drive thru two parking spaces.

1) As long as you STAY at that hotel resort, most resorts have parking lots big enough to park your RV, when attached to your vehicle. **
. . . you cannot park the trailer at a resort at which you do not have a paid-night ressie
. . . WDW considers this as cheating the system
. . . you could be trying to get basically a free campsite or campsite-night
2) Why not just stay at another local campground for one-two nights?

** Based upon time-of-year, the resort might be too busy with other parked vehicles to have ample space for your RV and tow vehicle, or the parking lot guard may not allow you in. Even if there are enough "open" parking spaces, many people park strangely, and a pass-through space may not be available. In this case, your ONLY option is to find an off-site place to park the vehicle and/or RV - and, at typically ultra-high prices..

If you book a cabin at Fort Wilderness after camping there could you park in the grass area outside the parking lots? When we were there in November there must have been 20 different campers parked out there the whole time.

Do you have any recommendations?

1) Lake Louisa State Park (Clermont, about 30-minutes from WDW) very cheap, since they are a Florida State Park
. . . big lake
. . . pools
. . . beach
. . . some activities
2) Thousand Trails campground (Clermont about 2-minutes from WDW)
. . . fitness room
. . . activities (including nightly Texas Hold-Em)
. . . two pools - one is heated

NOTE: Thousand Trails is a subscription campground, but they do take non-member nightly stays for a fee.

We were at Boardwalk yesterday and there was a motorhome parked there. I'm guessing a DVC member in for the Moonlight Magic evening and staying at Boardwalk. I'd suggest talking to the front desk manager at wherever you decide to stay.

I'd rely on Rusty's advice as well.

We did exactly what you are proposing. We took our 36’ fifth wheel to camp at Ft. Wilderness after our daughter’s wedding, but wanted to stay at Port Orleans with the group for the 3 days over the wedding. I was told by Disney that I could park the fifth wheel in the parking lot by our room at Riverside. It worked great. I had to run the on-board generator for a few hours after the second day to recharge the battery, but it was nice having the camper to haul all of the wedding stuff down to Disney. As a bonus, we were able to save some of the wedding cake in our freezer so that they could have it for their first anniversary.

Hypothetically.
If you have a package reservation for everyone in your group at a resort and have your motorhome in the parking lot, paid to park etc. Can you sleep in it if staying with our daughter & grandchildren proves to be exhausting? Don’t want to cheat the system just curious if we need a break from the babies if this is possible.
