Hi,
Planning a trip for the fall of this year. Last visit was 2015, and we stayed in building 9A and loved it. We were hoping to request the same this trip, but now reading about construction, wondering if thats a really bad idea. There will be 14 of us, and having the small quiet pool so close would be ideal for the littles to unwind before bed.

9A is immediately next to the tower construction. They tried to put us there last month and we called to change it as soon as we saw that.

We were there Dec. 17 - 21 so here is a quick report. I requested Cabanas and early arrival with early arrival taking precedence over room location since we drive down. We arrived around 1 and went to the front desk since I had not received a room ready text. I wasn't surprised, I think in over 30 years of going to WDW and staying on site I've had a room ready early maybe twice. CM said our room would be in Casitas 4 and would be an old room. O.k. so I didn't get Cabanas nor did I get early check in, oh well. We drove around and parked in the Building 4 lot and walked to the bus stop and were off to Epcot (we just hopped on the first park bus to arrive, which we normally do). Finally, around 5 or 5:30 got the room ready text, it was in Building 5, room 5307. O.k. so not in Building 4. We decided to make supper ADRs at Chef Paul's and the only thing available was at 8:45 so we just decided to hang around the park instead of going back to the room. Supper was not good by the way. It made for a long day since we started driving around 5:30 that morning and it was around 11 when we got our stuff out of the car and to the room. The room looked out over the lake, which was kind of nice. I never bother with the view at moderate resorts since it's not like you are going to keep your windows open and look any way. The room was pretty close to the stairs so that was a bonus as I prefer stairs to elevators, although we did use the elevator or arrival day and leaving day. So, room requests 0, room ready on time 0, location we were told we were going to be in 0, view good. This was not a renovated room and smelled like someone had had a very nice time with some pot when we opened the door but we were too tired to deal with moving so we just turned on the fan. My son (grown) is a huge sports fan and started to turn on the TV so he could get an ESPN fix and wouldn't you know it, no remote control to be found. I called down and a remote was delivered around midnight, he was fast asleep by then but I was awake. I have stayed at CSR twice before this, both times two nights during a split stay and enjoyed it both times, both times in the Cabanas and my son has stayed once, this was the first time we were staying for the entire time of the trip, 4 nights and it wasn't looking good so far. Next morning we were doing EMH at AK in hopes of getting on FOP and off fairly early so we just went to the bus stop without breakfast. The bus came in the time listed on the TV but as others have said, it's the first stop and by the time we got to El Centro it was beyond standing room only and they had to skip the stop. This was consistent throughout the trip, no matter what time of day we were on the bus. By the time we got back to the room that night, around 8:30 or 9, the pot smell has gone since we had left the fan on all day. Next morning, we got up and had breakfast at the QS, it was around 8:30 or 9 and pretty crowded still but we had no problems. We had thought we would just hop on the bus at El Centro but when we walked out the door it was real crowded, a bus had just arrived and it was already full so we just walked back to bus station 2. We were doing HS this day and I had actually made a FP for around 10:30 that morning, normally we would have had plenty of time to make it. When we got to the stop a HS bus was just leaving, 2nd missed bus that morning. The TV said 20 min. until the next one, o.k. no big deal. It turned out to be close to a hour before the next HS bus came, not sure what was up with that, we watched many buses come and go. The good thing was that when one came, two came because obviously they knew it was going to be crowded. That was really the only bus problem we had the entire trip. Each morning after the first, we ate breakfast at the QS with o.k. results. We went to the pool the first full day (AK day) for about 2 hours, we just sat in the hot tub most of the time while sipping refreshing adult beverages. As someone has pointed out the hot tub isn't really all that hot but it worked for us, it was 80 outside. Our third night there we were at Epcot and couldn't decide where we wanted to eat, we were tired of the booths and there wasn't anywhere in Epcot that was striking us (we had eaten at Tiffins the night before) so we just got on the bus back to the resort thinking we'd do QS. I got on MDE and found an ADR for the Mayan Grill or whatever it's called in about 30 min. so booked it. We got off at our stop and walked back to El Centro since the bus was just too crowded for me to want to stand any more. Got there about 5 min. before the ADR. We loved the meal there, we loved the service and we loved the atmosphere. We ate at Chef Paul's, Tiffins, Rose and Crown Pub and lunch at Spice Road Tables and this was our second best meal the entire trip, Tiffins the best. Construction wasn't a big deal to us, we did have construction equipment outside our building many days but there wasn't any noise to bother us. By and large other than the whole room issue the first day, we had another enjoyable trip at CSR. We normally do split stays moving over to an Epcot resort for the end of our trips but there was no rooms to be had when I booked (3 weeks before we went) so this was our first time staying in a moderate the entire trip. I'll admit I wasn't thrilled with having to take the bus everywhere but that was just because we are spoiled beyond words of being able to walk to HS and Epcot, even though we had a car we just don't like to drive to the parks.

Thanks for sharing....sorry that this CSR stay wasn't entirely magical for you....but the info is helpful to me. My family will be there (for the first time) in April.

I dislike taking the bus to the parks from any resort. We always rent a car when we go to WDW and I prefer to drive to each park and park the car. Much less hassle to me. I know this does not work for everybody but it works for us.

I always stay in 9A but this year will be requesting a different building. 9A is right next to the construction site. Also, you can no longer walk out of 9A and take a left to El Centro. You have to walk around the small pond and then across the bridge and then across the other bridge. It was great when it was a short walk. You may want to look at staying in the ranchos near the quiet pool. That way you can also hopefully get a refurb. room too.

My family and I are thinking of staying at CSR in late October 2018-November 2018. What are the chances of receiving a renovated room? I don't really mind the construction as long as we have access to the pool!:beach:

Wasn't this resort under refurb to be able to fit 5 people in their rooms? If so, when can a family of 5 stay here in a standard room?

Hello All: I was wondering if you can still request a cot(if available) now that they are refurbishing the rooms. We are staying 12/18 and it has been a few years since we stayed there. The last time we stayed there we were able to request a cot. Thank you in advance for anyone that has the answer.

Question about CSR room space-

I want to be prepared for my sons to not want to sleep together. When I asked on the thread a while back, I was told that a twin air mattress would fit in the room. Is that the case without having to move furniture? Would camping mats (more narrow) be better???

Bumping this.... curious about the PP's cot question and whether or not I may want to have twin airbed or camping pad on hand. Thanks in advance!!!

That is why I am wondering to, in case I need to bring an air mattress. My 2 boys do not like to share a bed. I also was trying to look at the layout of the refurbished rooms and was wondering if there is even room somewhere in the room to put an air mattress down. Especially now with the new long stand that are in the rooms.

The only place I think an air mattress (twin) would work is by the door and moving that corner chair somewhere else.

Thanks for posting the picture. It does look like an air mattress will fit there. I was starting to get worried about the sleeping arrangements, if no more cots allowed in the room.

I just booked a reservation for mid April and would like to request a refurbished room but I’m a little worried about the the bus stops near those rooms. I’ve read that the buses can reach capacity before making all four internal stops. Does the bus reach capacity at the first stop regularly or am I pretty safe if I go to the second stop by the Ranchos? I am primarily concerned with the two days that we have 8am reservations at MK because if I miss the first bus due to it being full I probably will not make it on time. How early would you arrive at the bus stop for an 8am reservation and what time do the bus stops start to get busy with the rope drop crowd for other mornings? I am willing to leave extra early and to walk to the casitas bus stop but I’m wondering if that is truly necessary or overkill. Thanks for your help!

I don't know if this was covered yet. I was in WDW last week and my brother and sister in law stayed at Coronado amidst the construction. When they entered their room they were greeted with a free set of pins as an apology! They are pretty cool and thought some of you may enjoy seeing them:

We just stayed there for the first time. Here is my mini review...
We went Dec 30-Jan 4 and stayed with our DVC points at OKW and Poly. On Jan 3, after looking at the weather, we decided to add two more nights so we wouldn't be driving home Northeast through a storm. I tried DVC and nothing was available. I went to desk at Poly and he said he could get me All Star Sports. I had just had one night in Oct at Pop and did not want a value resort (Pop was disappointing). So on our way to our Calpe May dinner ADR, driving over in our car, I went on Disney site and found availability at Coronado.

Next morning we packed up and loaded stuff in car around 10:45. We drove over, parked and went in to desk. It was very busy with it being race weekend. A CM with tablet walked up and took my info and walked me to the desk and told me and desk CM that my room was ready. Desk CM typed a bit and said he was wrong. She kept typing and said she would try to find me a room that is ready. I told her no worries, we didn't need that as we wanted to head to Epcot. I had tried all morning to get on app to make FP but the app was down and the desk CM also had trouble finding our MB. She offered us two paper FP for all the issues. That was wonderful because we had trouble getting FP the whole trip, the place was just so busy that nothing was ever available last minute. Even with the cold weather.

We went off to Epcot. Ate lunch at Spice Road. Drank some drinks around the world. Used one of the paper FP. Watched Canada film. I never got a room ready text but the app was back up so I kept looking at that for room number and at 3:30 I saw our room number on there. It was 73 and third floor in Ranchos section. We took bus back and got our car. Unloaded and went up to top floor to find a renovated room. In Oct when I added one night at Pop, I requested a renovated room and did not get it....also didn't get room ready text there until 4:30. I thought the late room was because they were meeting my request...but no. So anyway, was very excited to see the renovated room at CSR. It was lovely.

We had no bus issues except maybe waiting in the cold for 20 minutes. But we always got on a bus, no problem. Going into Epcot on the 4th took a long time in major traffic back up...due to race crowds. Took bus to HS on the 5th. My DDs took bus to AK on night of 4th to use other paper FP. They had no problems. We had dinner at Maya Grill on the 4th. It was very relaxed, great service and yummy food. Complete 180 on our experience at Kona while staying at Poly.

The room was also very quiet, unlike our room at Poly. The giant TV was nice as was having a Keurig. The pool was closed due to cold weather. We had lunch at the QS and it was not spectacular. Another negative is the Wifi was bad in our room and DH had to work all day on the 5th. He was very frustrated and we even called in for help but was told 'just too many people trying to use Wifi'. Because of this, DH said he hated the resort. DDs and I liked it. The biggest negative, for me, was the bed was very hard and the heat just wouldn't heat enough yet the covers made us sweat. So covers on and we were sweating, covers off and we were freezing. It was odd. The two pillows were too high but one pillow was too low. So I didn't sleep well those two nights. DH, who always sleeps through everything and can sleep anywhere, also had trouble sleeping. Though warm weather is typical and AC might be better there. I'd recommend bringing your own pillow.

Does anyone know what the timing has been for Easter day festivities at CSR? Are they all weekend too, or just Sunday?

Stayed at CSR 1/3-1/5 2 nights and it was lovely and rough all at once.
We had the following issues with room:
Broken outlet in desk (popped out of mounted cut out)
missing linens not on beds
broken bathroom door handle (could not close or lock door) Luckily it was just myself and my other half so we managed
I simply reported these issues when we arrived at the room, just to note we did not cause the damages.
Keurig was great, but on the second day house keeping had not refilled the coffee cups or other amenities, so we had to call to get some items replenished.

I did not get the building or area I requested, nor did I get the early check in I requested, but we did get a nice refurbished room on the first floor near the corner, close to the parking lot and bus stop #2. The heater didn't kick as much as I would have liked as it was 30 degrees out and we were freezing, but we survived. The construction was a NON issue, pool closed due to low temps, and fire side evening canceled for the same reason. The pouring rain on 1/3 was the worst, the resort handled it well but was NOT selling ponchos, I found this troublesome but got over it.

We drove so we did not use the resort transport, parking was easy and plentiful. Resort was quiet, clean, and had very helpful CMs.
I decorated our window and it could be seen from the parking lot and bus route so that tickled me.

We would stay again if the price was right, like it was this time, but it is not a first pick location for us.
