>> Refillable Mug FAQ <<

Does anyone know if the water dispenser that is with the fountain drinks required a chip?

I was thinking of bringing my old cup from January just to fill with water.

You can use any cup/container for water or ask for a water cup at the cashier. No need to haul your old Disney cup for water...unless you want to.

We were at Kidani last week and purchased mug. CM told us that we could bring mug with receipt dated less than 30 days and cup would be reactivated for free. Has anyone ever done this? We go back next week and our cup doesn't actually expire until 2 days into our trip.

Is there any chance that you can get an Annual Pass discount for the mugs? I'm trying to decide if we'll use them enough only being there for 5 days in January.

I had tried multiple times to get the mugs with the passholder discount and was told no at every resort. However, I know some have successfully done it.

Its been a while. Is coffee dispensed thru R.F.I.D.?

As of 12/19 when I was there, coffee and tea were non-RFID.

This is probably a dumb question but we are doing a split stay in February. The first 5 nights we will be at one of the All Star resorts for Cheer Comp and no dining plan. The second part of our trip (last 4 nights) we will be at CSR with the dining plan. I know we get mugs with the dining plan for the second half of the trip. Do you think if we bought mugs for the first half they would refund them since we have the DDP for the second part? Probably not but I figured I would see if anyone was able to do this. Thanks!

No. It isn't something that they do.

Does that mean that coffee and tea aren't an option with the refillable mugs? I'm a newbie here.

No, just that you don't need to have a mug with a chip to get coffee and tea - only the soda dispensers require a mug with an RFID chip.

Coffee and tea are options for use with your refillable mug, but unlike the soda dispensers, the coffee urns don’t have RFID chip readers.

Did I read somewhere that some resorts are using coke freestyle machines? ( is that what they're called ) Sorry but I'm not a fast reader so it will take me forever to go through all the previous pages :)

If so which resorts do have these machines?

So if you have your own mug, free coffee?
No, that would be stealing.

@Tash87 , yes, some do. All Star Sports didn't in September. Port Orleans French Quarter did, in November 2016. And the Floridian didn't in November 2016, but they were under refurb, so I don't know what they have now.

To clarify: Coffee and tea are not free. You may purchase those beverages by the cup, or fill your Disney refillable mug with them. You may not just fill any cup from the urn/dispenser.

The soda machines read the RFID chip in the refillable mugs and disposable cups and dispense drinks accordingly. There is no chip reader for coffee and tea, so they're on a sort of honor system. But definitely not free.

Port Orleans French Quarter & The Marketplace at Ale & Compass in YC have them. I know there are oothers but not sure which ones.

We just got back and had a split stay at AoA and Beach Club. AoA does not have Coke freestyle machines BUT Beach club did in their Marketplace. My boys were thrilled!! It makes it hard to share the machine and keep the line moving. But love the variety!!

I know the following have Coke Freestyle machines:
  • Gasparilla Island Grill (Grand Floridian)
  • Sassagoula Floatworks (Port Orleans French Quarters, previously mentioned)
  • The Marketplace at Ale & Compass (Yacht Club, previously mentioned)
  • Beach Club Marketplace (Beach Club)

I can also confirm the following DO NOT:
  • Contempo Cafe (Contemporary)
  • Captain Cooks (Polynesian)
  • Roaring Fork (Wilderness Lodge)
  • Boardwalk Bakery (Boardwalk)
  • Pepper Market (Coronado Springs)
  • Landscape of Flavors (Art of Animation, previously mentioned)
  • Everything Pop (Pop)
