Wedding Planner Change

I just received news today that my wedding planner took another role in the Disney company and now I have a new planner  I already had my planning session with my old planner in October. I'm sure they are sharing notes and the BEO, but I'm still nervous. Has anyone had this happen to them??? We are almost 90 days away from the wedding. Is there anything I should do to make the transition smoother or assume my old and new planner can handle it??

This whole process has really been more stressful than Disney makes it seem :sad2:

It is still stressful, I agree! I take it you had Amy then? I saw a post from a bride on Disbrides page on Facebook about it this morning. I would ask your question there as well. They have a lot of perspective and great information. They are also REALLY amazing at calming nerves, lol.

Just came to say we are the same spot. About to hit our 90 day mark and just got the email today too. I don't have any advice for you but at least you're not alone!

Yes I did have Amy and she was awesome! It's good to know I'm not alone!! I'm going to join the Disbrides page now. I just feel like I'm starting over in a way and I just hope the new planner knows all of the little details me and Amy talked about at the planning session

I would be sure that EVERYTHING you want is spelled out in the BEO so your new planner knows about it. If there are little preferences or customizations that you just confirmed over email, have her put them in your BEO. I'd maybe even schedule a phone call to give her a sense of which aspects are most important to you, so she knows that X bugs you or Y worries you and can be sure those are covered.

Yes this happened to my daughter. We had plenty of advance notice. We had a phone call with the planner and at that time she told us she would be going on maternity leave and would be back around or right after our planning session. She gave us the name of the planner taking over and all contact was done through the next three months and at the planning session. So the planner we had at our planning session was not the one we had at the beginning or for the event but she really shaped the day for us. They transitioned back over and really they do take good notes plus they go over everything with you a few times and of course each BEO reflects every item. It all worked out fine. I would say there were a couple of items that each didn’t have quite right but we were able to clarify them due to the continuous communication after each BEO. Nothing was missed and the items that were confused were very minor and easily straightened out well in advance of the wedding.

I have a phone call set up with the new planner this week. Now I just have to go back through all of my communication with my old planner and make sure it's in the BEO... ugh it kind of feels like I'm starting over. Thank you for the advice!

I didn't realize these planner changes were so common.. I know things happen but it puts you on edge trying to remember if you communicated the important things to multiple people. I know Amy took a lot of notes during our planning session so I'm hoping all of that gets communicated. I wish I took better notes during my planning session but hopefully it all works out. Good to hear that everything went well with your daughter's wedding!

Really it was almost seamless. You need to keep up with the BEOs anyway because even if you said something 10’times if it isn’t in the BEO it won’t happen. So regardless of the planner the BEO is the footprint for the event and super important. Both planners we had took amazingly accurate detailed notes. Things I mentioned casually were noted. Hopefully it will be all good. Liz
